Want to know what would happen when lightning strikes them? Realistically?
Steel wire will attract and ground lightning, but everything that touches that wire gets shocked also.

Jumping up (and making yourself the highest point) while attached to the ground using conductive material is pretty much the worst thing to do in a thunderstorm. She's making herself a lightning rod, almost guaranteeing a full hit.

Any statement concerning water or metal being more conductive is an impossible statement right now. We don't know the kind of metal or water (if it's pure then it's not conductive at all), and the conductivity of the wire largely depends on the thickness of the wire.

Also: the resistance of the wire causes it to heat up, wires this thin will melt and burn into her skin, causing horrible burns and concentrating the elightningstrike on her body.

So what would happen if lightning strikes in this situation?
Himori gets struck, the lightning rides down trough both her body and the wires, from the wires into the ground and Abilgail.
Everything in the scene is equally wet so water isn't really an issue here.
So Himori get the direct contact damage: Enormous quantities of energy pass through the body very quickly and this can result in internal burns and organ damage, explosions of flesh and bone, and a damaged nervous system. Depending on the flash strength and access to medical services, it may be instantaneously fatal or cause permanent injuries and impairments.
Abigail gets a slightly lighter hit but is also electrocuted (not sure if she's immune or not, if she's not she's not much better off than Himori)

Even after the energy reaches the earth it may still spring back up into someone's leg from the ground, this is called 'step potential'.
So anyone closely nearby can get a shock too.

Finally there's the sonic boom from the thunderclap, close by this can cause concussions and (temporary) deafness.
tl;dr:
My prognosis?
Himori: 30% chance of death, if she survives there's an 80% chance of permanent scarring or being paralyzed. Because of the wires these scars run along every point she was in contact with the wires. The thunder should also knock her unconscious, with a large chance of permanent hearing and/or brain damage.
Abigail: Let's say she's immune to the lightning, she'd still suffer 3rd degree burn wounds from the molten wire wrapped around her. Then there's the same concussion effect from the shock wave.
Everyone watching: temporary deafness, loss of appetite due to the scent of seared flesh.
Anyone rushing into the stadium directly after this still has a chance of getting a painful static shock from the ground.

akje, I found one fatal flaw in all this...the mention of loss of appetite due to the smell of seared flesh! This would not reign true with Wesley, whose eaten cake pops which observing autopsies before...seared flesh would not dampen his appetite in the slightest!
The real question we all want answered it: if either one of the girls had hard candy in their mouths at the tine, what would have happened to it once the thunder struck? Would it have melted into their inner cheek? Or, would they have spat it out while convulsing in electricity? These are the questions we need answered!

I too have some hard candy for them to put in their mouth.

I have no idea what would happen to the candy.
Not much probably, maybe heat up and melt a little, but most kinds of candy wouldn't have a higher boiling point than spit methinks. Never heard of spit heating up enough to damage.
I can't find what happens to candy if you electrocute it anywhere. weird that no one ever put any research into it.
Does anyone have a spare car battery and some lollipops at the ready?

The shock will make your muscles seize tightly, so their jaws will be clenched tightly (with enough force to risk damaging their teeth actually), if she was chewing before the strike the candy is shattered. But aside from that who knows?

Did find this though. Found it appropriate.

O.O I didn't know.... It is your choice which set of moves to get hit by :3
Abi sucker punched Himori, but Himori deflected the second blow to the face, she can't stop everything but she can try :3

Ok so she starts with an elbow... so imagine turning your body to the left and raising your right elbow.. your hand should be in a fist and pointed towards your other shoulder.
She then uses the same arm to push away your arms, which means they are in the way: they must have blocked the elbow and therefore she swipes away the guard now.
She then follows with an overhead punch, that's probably with her free arm, she must turn and move in for the punch, this is a big one. Slower but harder.
If that works you'll feel it, if you blocked it that means the kidney shot probably worked. If the kidney shot works you won't feel much pain but some sickening for a few seconds and you will bend over forward a little in reflex. If you do the overhead kick misses dramatically capoeira style.

After this you can either take a step back and retaliate at your own pace or take advantage of the raised kick and grab hold of it, push up and tumble her over. Then jump her and pitfight her into the ground. I'm sure we can find someone to provide Jello. Lookin at you Wes!

This is of course my interpretation, making a lot of assumptions, one of them is that Maria has had some boxing training and isn't just wailing on you. In that case she probably tried to do it all at once and simply jumped you clawing and flailing.

I dunno, i think the idea was that she wanted you to pick by which of the many attacks you were hit.
And not everyone is an expert writer. I know I'm not.
