"Violating your fishing license? $150."

"Failure to appear in court? $250."

"Some other bullshit?" $300."

"$200"

"$250"

"20 year old caught with a beer in his hand at a theme park? $480."

Examples of other judgements I saw.

My point is that I am upset with the particular high fee associated with my crime.

I went out for dinner last night and the waiter kept pouring me wine and I kept giving it to other people when he wasn't looking.

Legal age in the states is 22, yeah? That seems silly. It's 18 here.

I think that's two fines on top of each other.

One is under age drinking and the other may be having an open container in public.

Also you'd be breaking the park's rules as well, they may have added on for that as well.

21, actually.

Which, in New York State, is also the age you need to be in order to legally buy e-cigs.

Despite the fact that you can buy regular cigarettes at 18.

...Yeah, I don't get it either.

That is really silly. And now city governments are passing laws to ban smoking e-cigs in public places. I wonder if it's really the tobacco companies doing that, in order to discourage people from even bothering to switch over.

At least I can sort of understand the logic behind making e-cigs subject to the same limitations as real cigarettes.

It's making the e-cigs look like they're worse and putting stricter regulations on them that really gets me.

That's what I mean, if it's more of a hassle to use e-cigs (other than obvious health reasons) a lot of smokers might not bother. One of the advantages was that they could be smoked in bars and resteraunts because it's not real smoke, it's vapor. I can see how it could be a distraction and the possible misunderstandings but the excuse to ban it is second hand smoke and those do not produce it.

It is strange and suspicious that they're being so hard on e-cigs if there wasn't a ton of money behind it.

Nah, most of the big tobacco companies are getting into the e-cig thing too. It's actually pharmaceutical companies that are fighting against them, because they draw lots of sales away from their nicotine gum and patches and such that are meant to help people stop smoking.

So I was right there is a lot of money behind it, just not where I thought it was coming from. That makes sense, I forgot about those things.

Here's how you fix that:

Step 1: Don't get fucking caught

There's no step 2

It's always money. We just fuck the rules where I'm from. I was drinking in the country/biker bars my family went to since I was 15. License checks only became a thing once I moved away from home and started living in towns and stuff. I do think it is OK in some places (in Wisconsin) for those under 18 to be able to drink if they have parental guidance, but 18-21 the entire country just flips you off.
