Ok, I have never GM'd before so, I will need a good Co-GM to help me with this. But I have been reading the Dragon Age novels and it has made me come up with a neat concept. So here it is.

Orlais

"But my lord, making mages into tranquil IS flawed. Is there no way we can find an alternative? Maybe sever their magic abilities without them forfeiting all emotion." Asmar asked the lord seeker. "What is this? No, it is NOT flawed. It is the will of the Maker that peace be kept. We exist to protect mages, and sometimes that means protecting them from themselves. Would you rather us just invoke the Right of Annulment on all mages and be done with it then?" Tiberius stated more than said.
The high priestess sat in amusement as two polar-opinioned Templars debated. She couldn't openly say it, but her opinion leaned toward that of Asmar's. So much so, that it got her thinking.
"Pharamond, come here a moment." the priestess stated. "As you will my lady." he replied in an emotionless voice. Although she had known him for many years now, sometimes his cold tone just made her shiver. "I have a task for you, I want you to see if you can find any way to reverse the process of becoming a tranquil." "Yes my lady." and he took his leave. She knew this could cause controversy within the Templar and mage community so she had to make sure her signature would not be tied to the research.
The researched proved fruitful, but at a cost. Pharmond had to open the Veil. Upon opening it, the keep at which he was doing his research was invaded by demons. Only after Archmage Wynne entered the keep and saved him was he able to return. But he discovered upon entering the veil as tranquil and letting a spirit or demon bond with him, his power had been returned. His emotions being taken from him so long however resulted in him being very polar with emotions. Meaning when something was even just a little funny, he would die of laughter, if something was even a little sad he would uncontrollably sob, etc.
Eventually word leaked out to the Mage circles, and the first enchanters voted to separate and leave the towers. The Templars received word of the Chantry's involvement and absolved their ties to the chanty claiming to be the Warriors of Light.

This is where you come in, will you be a Tranquil that has recently been reversed? A Templar that will hunt and kill mages? Or a mage who is in search to help reverse all Tranquility. Right now the process is limited to Orlais, but word is quickly spreading and the lands lead more and more towards war. You can also roll a char sheet that is not necessarily Templar or mage but empathetic to either side. I will expand on this later just wanted to get the idea down before it slipped.

It seems interesting. I just need to brush up on my lore about mages.

I was wondering if its alright to make a mage that is a Qunari who was raised by humans. I am thinking of what I want for a character, so I want to ask before hand.
