This is an idea, partially inspired by the concept of Shadowrun, that I think has potential, and I want to try out. Picture your typical fantasy world. There are dwarves, elves of all kinds, orcs, humans, and every other fantasy race and magical being you can imagine. Now, imagine that same world thousands of years in the future, when they've mastered advanced technology and space travel.

The RP I'm thinking of would be a sort of Mass Effect/Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings/Baldur's Gate. If you're interested in helping me develop this further, please PM me and we can develop a plot and lore!

As I said, I think this idea has serious potential and I'd like to see it play out.

I'm Interested. Would certain races die out for their lack of intelligence? My main thought being if the Dwarves develop advanced fire arms and killed oh, I don't know, every single Orc alive. Or would certain races become subjugated into others? Or are we talking about some kind of leap that comes so quickly genocide is not a concern as everyone is on roughly even footing?

I was thinking more like every race adapted in their own way, and they probably became fairly segregated. Orcs live in the slums of giant cities, drow are commonly stereotyped as criminals and street thugs, etc.

I'll keep an eye on this.

Nice, great. As I was saying in a PM, I was thinking that in this fantasy world, a wizard opened a trans-dimensional portal to our world in the late 1800s. He learned our technology and helped enter the fantasy world into an industrial age. They then advanced as we did, discovering technology and later space technology. Far in the future, they have space age technology and are in the colonizing stages of planets outside their own system.

There would be a central plot... maybe something combining a fantasy story and a scifi story. Not sure yet.

Will keep an eye on this. Very interesting...
