Calling all Mystery-Men!!!

Do you like the DC Comics Universe? Would you like to get to know and love some of it's lesser known names from 70+ years ago? Would you like to take the characters, take and replace elements you like or don't like and reinvent those characters to your ideas?

Then have we got a role play for you! Welcome one and all to the hair raising, spine tingling, Nazi and racketeer bashing world of DC Comics...



In this role-playing universe, set during the years of 1938 to 1951, this adventure will take you back in time in DC Comics history. A simpler time when the world was at the mercy of an evil dictator and his goose stepping minions. When War Bonds were the hottest thing on earth and patriotism was at an all time high. A time when gaudy superheroes roamed the USA in search of adventure. We give you this universe...and allow you to play around with it's dynamics, it's characters and pretty much everything else. The reason being is that many of you may not be familiar with these characters and i want you to feel like you have full control over them, If there's anything about these characters you like or don't like and you want to change (costumes, personality, origin in need of a tweak or revamp, etc) feel free to do so. Also feel free to give these gaudy figures their own personality envisioned and created by YOU! There are only a small handful of rules to follow while doing so.

1:No God modding or a tacking another player without permission from that player.

2:While you can change and reinvent these characters, in order to make sure these character stay true to their original forms in some way, I'd like to ask you to keep the original real names and at least some of the original powers of the character you pick. if you think their origin needs a tweak or an overhaul feel free to do so.

3:Be civil and respectful to other players.

4:No back to back posting. If you do it by mistake, feel free to let me know and I'll let you off. After all, we're only human. :)

5:If you have problems in your life or with your pc that prevent you from posting, we won't hold it against you. Though ideally we'd like to keep the story flowing as smoothly as possible.

6:For now, this is an ''Original/Cannon'' rp. With Cannon characters but with original ideas added to them. If push comes to shove however, i WILL definitely consider letting a few OC's allowed on the site to boost things up.

7:Try to keep in mind that this is a rp set in the 40s, so try to remember that there's no internet or mobiles, k? ;P Plus attitudes about allot of things were different back then. Use google to find out more about the era. Every little bit of info helps.

8:Please show a visual representation of the character you're working with. If you want that character redesigned, you can draw a redesign yourself, look to the internet for an image or ask a pal you know who's skilled in making microheroes to help ya out. if you know how to make them yourself, more power to you.

The 1st ark of our roleplaying adventure in the year 1941 in July, a few months before America became involved in WWII. And it focusses on the formation of the world's 1st team of Mystery-Men. The Justice Society of America!Seeing as we're not sticking to main DC Cannon here, this is our chance to build to team from scratch and tell the story of how the gang got together. What threat will they face to bring them all together? We work off each others posts to find out. We can discus what the Team's HQ will be now of afterwards depending on what everyone wants to do. if people pitch multiple ideas i'll put it up to a vote.

I am not super familiar with DC comics, I'm more familiar with marvel, but I love all superheroes and this sounds awesome. If we can get enough people you can count me in.

Identity: Rex Mason AKA "Metamorpho"

Origin: Rex Mason started out as your typical hired thug. Born and raised in Brooklyn by a single mother he was always a wild child. Bitter and arrogant, Rex was never much for school, not stupid, just had a serious lack of motivation. As slackers do he began messing with the wrong type of folks and soon ran away from his dingy apartment and began his life as exactly what he wanted. A low-life nobody who's only talents included beating guys up in back alleys for small sums of cash. Every punch and broken nose was his anger towards his deadbeat dad. His entire life centered around the next big pay. The next big "job". Then one day, he gets a strange letter from a secret government agency. Being as he was, Rex only saw numbers and soon found himself in an abandoned warehouse talking to a bunch of corporate suit and ties. He then found himself becoming an impromptu treasure hunter, sent out to find a long forgotten temple in the Amazon rain forest, known only as myth and legend. After being drugged, flown out on a little cargo plane and bring tossed out into the wild, he was a little shaken. This wasn't hoodlum Brooklyn anymore. Still Rex went for the money. He wound his way through a deep forest and saw something shiny. He walked over and next thing you know he had fallen two stories into a dark cavern. When he came too he saw a strange glowing, a bright red orb. Despite all better judgement he went to go grab it. It fused into his flesh, seemingly altering it into destabilized matter. When the pain finally stopped Rex found himself seemingly stronger. And faster. As he went to go pick his way out of the cavern he placed his hand on the stone wall, and to his surprise, found his arm turning the same stony granite as the wall. Metamorpho is born.

Powers: able to take any form of matter he touches, (solid or liquid), and change his entire or part of his body into that material,

-When in a liquid state, he retains his physical shape in the confines of his body, but is just in a liquid state

-He cannot sustain major shape changes for more than a few minutes at a time as his power is still developing,

-can change parts of his limbs into basic shapes, (spikes, clubs, etc.) but only for short bursts before they revert back to the original shape,

-has somewhat heightened physicsl strength, stamina and reflexes

-still feels pain even when he shapeshifts, (ex. If gets stabbed in liquid form, wont die, but still feels pain which can destabilize his powers)

-basic regeneration abilities if he can find same substance, (ex. If he changes to steel and gets his hand cut off, he can reform it but he needs more steel)

-can still move joints if in a heavy form such as stone or metal, but his speed is hindered due to the density of the material

-If his normal body is hurt he can reform it if he can use human tissue, just the same as his other regen powers

-gains strength and speed based on material he absorbs, denser material is stronger but slower, less dense is faster but weaker, (ex. If he absorbs metal he could at least roll a car if not lift it up, also can jump a reasonable height, maybe 10 feet, but if in liquid he can barely move anything and has physical force equal to the liquid, also can barely jump, but is very fast due to lower density of matter)

Appearance: Brown crew cut hair,
Strong jaw, very good looking,
Due to powers eyes change color to material he absorbs but normally are blue,
In very good physical condition, already tall and very athletic after powers he now looks like a linebacker,
About 6"5' and 270 lbs. All muscle.
Couple of scars from bar fights on his nose and cheeks.
Tends to wear leather jackets, blue jeans, combat boots, think biker type stuff.

Character difference: I believe this character is different because he may have many issues regarding his life, he is still just as noble as any other superhero but is also less cliche. He is much more real than the perfect Superman-esque character. His powers strengthen and hinder him, as does his want to do the right thing. He is a character that is by no means perfect, but can become better. His shortcomings may manifest themselves time and time again and his pride may be misguided, but he is always ready to help someone in need or beat the crap out of any super-villain trying to take over the world.

My goals: I want to create a character that is still a super hero, but isn't that good old mom and pop cliche. I want to create a character that isn't black and white or good and evil, but who comes out in gray and misguided good. I want to create a more real representation of humanity alongside the silly perfection of early American comic book heroes. I want to bring my own interpretation of 'everyday hero' into this RP.

Sample: Rex grinned to himself, his pearly white smile revealed a couple cracks from some past bouts. He flexed his massive arms as two hooded punks charged at him.
He dis patched one with a well rounded crack to the temple and tossed the other into the cold brick wall of the dark alley.
He could hear shouting as more guys charged around the dimly lit street corner. He put one of his hands to the ground, feeling a surge as the icy asphalt flowed into his arm.
He charged at the three guys hoofing it towards him, screaming as he flew at them. His huge concrete fist whacked one to the side as he put his boot to another, watching the poor guy heave as he was tossed to the ground.
The third guy was not so dumb. He pulled back as he saw his two companions get incapacitated with ease. He wrestled with his coat, pulling something from an inner pocket.
Rex knew what was going on.
"Now hold it. Nobody needs to get hurt here. Just walk away creampuff, and I won't have to hurt you."
"Fat chance freak," The hooded assailant cried as he whipped the small silver revolver into a steady position level with his shoulder.
Rex hit the ground as fadt as he could, will the hard gritty asphalt into his body as he then rolled towards the metal trashbin that sat haphazardly knocked over to one side of the brick walkway.
He heard a pop and a crack as he felt a sharp impact in his left shoulder.
He swung his arm catching the can in his hands just as there was another pop, right into his right thigh. He staggered, gritting his teeth from the pain. He felt his power waver for just a split second, his thigh turning back again, revealing deformed pressed flesh.
He quickly pulled himself back into full granite as he flung the trashbin, hitting the gunman like a truck and knocking him into a heap.
Rex winced as he slowly reformed his cracked physique. He felt his wounds reform as his hands drew from the asphalt.
"God", he thought to himself. "There's got to be an easier way to get the bills paid."

I'm sorry, but i said i wasn't going to let ocs in unless it was necessary. I have a strange feeling this rp is just gonna turn into an unintentional marvel rp with some ocs. mainly because most people on this site seem to be unfamiliar with the characters of the golden age. Anyway. Sorry but no ocs please. i hope this doesn't alienate you but i wanted this to be about the golden age characters. I'll let metamorpho slide because i don't think i explained the rules of my role-play clearly enough and also because it seems like this reimagining of the character would fit in that era anyway. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings but I'm starting to wonder if i can admin this game without upsetting or discouraging someone. :(

It is your RP, you do what you see fit. My question is, why is Metamorpho not really what you were looking for, is it that he isn't from the right time period, or is he's not apart of the DC groups you wanted us to choose from?

Well the thing is, i don't really wanna offend anyone. You can keep Rex if you want to but to any future users, please try to pick characters from the golden age or characters that were reconned into that time period like the ones in the 3 links, k? :). Remember, they're all yours to remould into whatever you want.
