Naw dude, it saying religion is a nuisance kind of comes off as insulting. According to you, I am a type of person that annoys you simply because I believe in a religion. If this was a first impression, I'd already feel off because a major part of my life is considered an annoyance to you. It closes doors if we were supposed to be co-workers or something. Now I won't get into the whole "why people believe in religion and evidence isn't necessary" because it just ends up being an OT thread.

Never considered smoking before but even I find Sinatra so out of place. I imagine shit like modern rock or something playing the background.

I can listen to Pink Floyd and feel stoned, without even taking a hit.

I used to be religious myself, I know why people are religious. I've lived it for most of my life.
But being raised under such a thing cut me off and blinded me to so much of the world and the kind of people it has.
Plus I grew up to be a very "Give me reasons, not just faith" kind of person once I decided God wasn't real.
Something that causes a decent amount of conflict between me and my Mom.

And to clarify, it's not religious people that's my peeve. I still get along with people are religious fine.
It's the way religion works that bugs me, the idea of following something without proof.
And all the ways it's used to hurt people (Homophobia, Religious Crusaders, Rape Culture/Women as prizes, People who decide they're Atheist or learn their Gay being kicked out of home to fend for themselves, the claim that you need a religion to be a good person etc.).

Things that annoy me....
1. Bad spelling and grammar/text speech in inappropriate places. By this I mean in places like roleplays, serious conversations, or in the case of another forum
I'm active on, the FTB forums, when asking for tech support. It makes it hard for me to take you seriously.
2. Racism and discrimination. I'm fine with just jokes, but if it's serious, you are immediately marked down on my internal scale of intelligence.
3. People using my things without my permission. This applies even to my parents and siblings.
4. Narcissism
5. When people go on about how they are horrible people...it pisses me off to no end.
6. People looking over my shoulder when I'm doing something.
7. Special treatment
8. Justin Bieber(no seriously, that guy just grinds my gears.)
9. Trolls
10. Stupid people. And by this I mean people who try to act smart when they are the opposite. If you right out say you don't know what you are doing, then it's all good.

I think your upbringing had a lot to do with your opinion on religion. I never felt blinded to any aspect of the world. I was free to discover what I wanted and free to form whatever opinions I wanted. Now what is interesting is that I spent all my early schooling years at a religious schools but never found them to be demanding, I guess. Oh the schools would definitely push religion a lot, but I never felt obligated. I feel like I had a choice but I chose to believe in a faith, even if there was no concrete evidence.

I think it is the right thing to do, but I also think that everybody is allowed to believe or not believe in whatever they want. As long as they find satisfaction and have good intentions in the way they go about it. I just still hope they are a good person so if my religion is true, they can have a good afterlife, too.

Long and unkempt nails. Don't know why but I get shivers when someone doesn't tend their nails.

There's no concrete evidence of anything. Widely accepted scientific theories are being disproven all the time, which is part of why science is so rad! We can't even prove we're real!

Well that's good but I don't agree with "religion hurts people". Now again, I'm not going to go into in depth because this really isn't the time or place, but I'll offer my two cents.

The only problem with religion is that humans tend to make errors. Everyone has their own interpretation about everything. Now from my point of view, those homophobic people are wrong because my God teaches everyone to be accepting and loving of their fellow man and woman. But to them, they might think the gay couple down the block is wrong because there was a verse in the bible that said it was wrong even though they probably couldn't remember which bible verse it was. Or maybe they just want that gay couple to a good afterlife and try to explain to them why it is wrong.

Now we as human beings are naturally bad, but we aren't perfect. Mistakes are made and horrible things happen.

I never felt blinded either as long as I was religious.
But once I became an atheist and looked at everything without there being a God Element I was able to see far more of the world.

And most of the things I've found with religion wasn't from my own family but from other religious people.
My family was a whole "Ignore the entire Bible" kind, which I also had issues with.
Cause the Bible is their religion, what they are supposed to be following. It makes no sense to ignore the thing and still call yourself a follower of that religion.

Some disproven, others updated.
But always on the basis of proof and evidence given.
It's open minded in that if it's proven wrong it will adapt and change to account for that new information.
Science admits we don't know everything, and goes out to find the truth.

Religion, makes a claim and sit's with it, not ever proving it.
If arguments are given otherwise, it just gets written off as blasphemy and/or the devils work.

People who are determined to create the perception that they don't care about anything. It's especially annoying when it extends to absolutely everything in their lives.

Another even more annoying pet peeve is arbitrary authority figures. I have a strong degree of respect for the established order and people who upkeep society, but arbitrary shits all over all of that.

That doesn't prove anything beyond the existence of the self as a blank slate of consciousness. It does nothing to confirm individual identity or anything outside of the self.

Nex, I'm not being serious. There's nothing either you or I could say about "cogito ergo sum" that everyone else in the thread doesn't know.
