Castiel sat on the ground and allowed the first male to sit on her shoulder, while the female sat in her lap. It was such a wonderful feeling to see these two. And it was even better when Hiccup discovered a third hatchling. This one looked exactly like his mother, though seemed to have his father's temper. She giggled slightly when the hatchling tried to head butt Hiccup's leg, "That one's going to a handful, I can just see it already." Gently petting the two hatchlings she had with her, she watched Hiccup petted the baby and smiled softly at this. It was so good to see another person that was connected to dragons like she was. She couldn't help when watching him realize that she had....feelings for him. That was hard for her to admit even to herself. She wasn't used to people. But him, he was different. He was kind. Understanding. He was the only human she would ever feel that way for.

But surely he wouldn't feel the same. He had seemed as though he were a very important person in his village, which meant he probably had woman all waiting in line to be with him. She wouldn't stand a chance and she just needed to come to terms with that and just remind herself they could still be friends. Smiling at that thought, she watched as Aurora approached her and nuzzled the black male onto her head and let him slid to her back before she aced the grey female onto her head and the female sat there giving happy sounds as she pulled on her mothers ears. Aurora gave Castiel more happy clicks and Castiel scratched behind the dragoness' ear, "You're a mother now Aurora......its so hard to believe. All three of them are so unique and so cute."

Aurora layed down now and the two hatchlings slid off of her head and ran ver to their white brother, the tree of them tumbling around and play fighting with each other cute growls and yelps coming from them. Sitting down, Castiel watched them and leaned against Aurora, happy for her friend. She then looked at Hiccup and smiled more, laughing lightly as the white hatchling ran over, trying to head butt him again, this time jumping up to hit his chest, "I think that one likes you Hiccup."

Toothless didn't miss the way she looked at his rider with eyes so full of affection that he was certain that Hiccup had done something to tickle her fancy. Something about him stirred a longing in her and Toothless was encouraged by that, even if Aurora's rider seemed to discard the thought after a moment. It was that same small spark that had betrayed Hiccup in his own heart when that viking girl- Astrid -drew away from him. First a flame that had soon grew into a fire. Hiccup had blazed with joy in her company, lively and warm but Toothless was certain that love was a cooled coal now. He'd noticed the rift gradually growing between them as Hiccup got swallowed by his new responsibilities and Astrid became more engaged with that stranger. It undoubtedly started out friendly enough with no intention of betrayal but now... Had she gotten the guts to tell him it was over to his face? Well, Hiccup had always been a smart human (smarter than the rest) so he assumed he already knew.

Regardless- Toothless had a few stern words to say to that viking girl.

But this one... she shared interests with his rider. Those markings on pages that came together to form pictures and a love for dragon kind (how could they not love them though? They were great). She was undoubtedly intelligent too, though maybe not in the same way as Hiccup.. He hoped he wouldn't be blinded to the possibility. He certainly desired better in this life.

Toothless stood over the hatchlings ensuring their play time would not take a turn for the worse. It should be several cycles before they discovered their plasma but he scarcely remembered his own upbringing so he thought to be watchful. Their scales were still so soft and did not yet have the fire resistance of his own. Yes... careful. He looked over at the mention of the white hatchling looking to start a play session with Hiccup. It launched at him and when the small male connected with him it caused the fin to spring up out of Hiccup's back. The hatchling fell back in surprise, scrambling back a few paces before cautiously easing to the side to look at the fake fin.

A barking laugh from Toothless started the hatchling again and it scrunched down, looking at his father with a face that encouraged him to stop. The nightfury clicked in comfort instead as Hiccup began winding the fin back down. "Typical show of viking affection." Hiccup mentioned at the way the hatchling wanted to keep headbutting him and cast Castiel a smile. "Everyone of us, hard headed."

When he smiled at her, Castiel felt her heart flutter a bit and she smiled back at him, "I think you have to be hard headed to keep up with dragons like these." She joked with a small laugh, before getting hit on the back of the head by Aurora's tail wing and making her laugh more. The two baby dragons seemed happy at her laugh and licked. Castiel layed back, laughing and playing with the two for a few moments before the two went tumbling off and playing with each other once more. Sitting up, she smoothed down her hair as she crawled over to Hiccup and the little white dragon. The white dragon gave a small yip before jumping onto her lap and trying to butt his head against hers. Giggling she pulled back slightly before he could and leaned down, nuzzling her head against his, "You're a feisty little thing aren't you?"

The little dragons gave a happy sound and purred, before hopping off of her lap and changing over to his father, biting at Toothless's paws with playful growls. She sat down next to Hiccup and watched as his brother and sister joined in, all three going to 'attack' their father with fun filled yelps and growls, while their mother just stood by giving her mate a playfully yet mocking smile.

Leaning back, Castiel smiled watching the new happy family and could help but worry about what would happen when it was time for them to leave. Would the small family be separated? Would the family all go to Berk? Surely they wouldn't all go to her island since Toothless in a way needed Hiccup. All of those prospects though worried and saddened her at the same time. ither way, either a family woudl be sperated or someone would end up without their dragon. That is, unless Castiel herself moved to Berk. But....well that was a scary thought for her. To be in a village full of vikings after what happened back at her own village? She would be a nervous wreck for a good while before she finally got settled. And even then, there was still the matter of whether or not she would be welcomed. The people on Berk didn't exactly seem like the type to welcome outsiders.

She hook her head and decided she would just have to worry about that later. For now she was just going to enjoy the here and now. She watched the hatchlings continue to bite and nip at their father and smiled at Hiccup, "We still have to name them you know. Any ideas?"

Toothless watched the girl smooth out her hair, making herself ’presentable’ in the human sense of the word. He’d lived around their kind long enough to know appearances mattered when one was trying to impress the other- that was after an eye had already been caught, usually by one’s skills on the field. Toothless wasn’t sure if it was Astrid’s beauty or strength that originally caught Hiccup’s attention. Her violence, to Toothless, seemed like it should have been a turn off since it obviously physically hurt his rider when he was younger but he’d always been treated as the lesser individual by his peers so perhaps he just saw nothing wrong with it. A Viking show of affection… and to think she had just begun to get softer. But this girl seemed very nice. Toothless was curious to see how he would handle someone so unviking like.

A slight shift in expression as she approached and the baby clambered out of his lap to share some of that ’affection’ with Castiel. Toothless thought he might have saw something in his gaze, a sort warmth reserved for those closest to him. Hiccup set his hands against his knees as Castiel rubbed her face against the hatchling‘s. He’d never seen another human behave around a dragon in this manner. Aside from his mother who had twenty years to get close to them. The other Vikings warmed up slowly but he could feel the tension between their two races now and again- stronger after that alpha had so easily turned their allies against them. That would take time to mend. She was close to dragons though, she cared about them like equals. He could see that in her actions, in her gaze.

He felt Toothless’ gaze on him but paid it no mind. Soon after the hatchlings were jumping all over their father anyhow and he found himself grinning broadly. “Come on now, that’s no fair is it buddy? They’re gaining up on you.” He rose to his feet to help but Toothless lowered down and rolled them off, pinning them beneath one wing with a smug expression of an easy victory. Hiccup smirked in response and was about to say more when Castel spoke up. “Names? Uh…”

Toothless gave him a gummy smile and Hiccup scoffed a bit in amusement because it was him that named both the older dragons currently present. “Blizzard.” He said with a jerk of his thumb at the white one whose feisty attitude and coloration earned him that title. “Dusk.” He said of the gray one before glancing at the last “back in my village… the more frightening the name the better. To scare off the ‘gnomes’ and ‘trolls’, don’t know if that’s really a concern here though. They’re dragons.” He joked before finishing thinking. “How about charcoal?” Though black and little more when used to draw it could make something beautiful so though this last one was mostly black there was still more to it.

Castiel thought about the name for a moment as she watched the three little dragons try to get out form under their father's wing, making her laugh lightly and nod, "So, Blizzard, Dusk, and Charcoal. I like it. It fits them." She stated, and brushed her long hair from her face before she looked back to him, "They named people in your village to sound frightening? And yet...your name is Hiccup?" She had a look of slight amusement on her face before she shrugged, "Not that its bad or anything. Not at all." She said and smiled when she saw the three baby dragons finally get out from their father's wing and yawn, blinking in tired way. It was then that Aurora got up and walked over to the three, laying down and used her tail to scoop the three hatchlings to lay curled against her with her tail wrapped around herself.

Very soon the three were asleep and Aurora layed her wing lightly over there, purring softly. Castiel smiled softly, "The're so tired. They've had a big day." Getting up and walking over to the mouth of the cave she saw the sun going down and it was quickly growing dark. She slowly went over to sit beside Aurora, scratching behind her ear. She really didn't want to leave. Not yet. They had just gotten there. Just met the new additions to their life. Her dragon's hatchlings. Who knew how long it could be before the hatchlings could fly back or even what would happen or where they would go when flying back. It was all up in the air, but she had a feeling Aurora and Toothless were not going to be separated.

But, she could stay in the cave here with them for now, right? She was sure Hiccup would have to go back to his village sooner or later, but she didn't really have anywhere to be Besides, it would surely do the hatchlings good to spend time with a human before being able to fly back home. She continued to scratch Aurora behind the ear, letting her purr and lean against her hand, as she looked over to Hiccup, "I....think I'm going to stay here. I don't really want to leave them here with the hatchlings. Not that I don't trust them or anything, because I know they will take very good care of them. I just....feel better here. As extra protection for the babies?"

Hiccup was sure he would have heard that one before had he had more contact with people beyond Berk. His name wasn’t really of issue these days and far better than the ones gifted to some of the people he knew. He offered a lopsided smile at the comment and decided not to explain that he had been the hiccup in his village, in his family… It was water under the bridge. He turned towards the entrance of the cave, joining Castiel there as the dragons curled up- already thinking of the long flight home on a dragon not too accustomed to flying in darkness.

Toothless walked over as Castiel returned to her own dragon, bumping into his side so he instinctively put an arm around him to keep his balance. The nightfury rumbled in concern as he looked at the sky and Hiccup sighed “I know but I have to head back, its nearly winter and with the new hatchlings we have triple the mouths to feed.” He rubbed his fingers at his hair and smiled at the dragon. “You just focus on taking care of those babies bud and of course, your beautiful wife…” He added with a sly smile that ended with Toothless huffing in his face.

Hiccup backed up into the night. “A chiefs duties are never done. I’ll try to check up on your guys later in the week, maybe I can borrow Cloudjumper.” He turned to take a few steps but Toothless cut across him, barking in protest before pushing his head into him and backing him into the cave. Hiccup knew it was pointless to try and out maneuver Toothless so walked over to the others sitting down. “Or I’ll stay until morning.”

Castiel watched as Hiccup began to back out of the cave and frowned slightly, despite her surprise of hearing he was not just very important in his village, but he was chief of his village. It made her, in a way, feel kind of....unworthy? She was never much in her own village. The daughter of a baker and a solider. They were definitely on the lower end of the scale when it came to vikings, but at least they had still been vikings. They had been very displeased with her since she was a young child. She was not viking like at all. She had no chance of moving up in the world. No chance of making them proud. At least the other born to people like her parents could make something of themselves. They could fight. She couldn't and never would. She was the lowest of the low in her village.

What if she had been the daughter of a chief? Would things had turned out different for her? Maybe It made sense for things to turn out so well for him and Toothless if he had been future chief when the met the dragon. But maybe it was also a matter of the people in their villages. Her village was known for being some of the most brutal of their kind. But, either way, here she was; born of lowly standards, outcasted from her village(almost killed by her own people on top of that), physically weak, socially awkward, and probably having a lot of other things wrong with her. And here he was; not the strongest, but still strong and agile, handsome, chief of his village, loved by people and dragons, and, in her eyes, all together perfect.

She rubbed her arm and averted her gaze, doing her best to smile through her thoughts, "Morning should be good. I'm sure Toothless will enjoy your company for a few more hours anyway." She looked up at Aurora and sighed, leaning lightly against the dragoness, in attempt to sleep, yet, sleep wouldn't come. She just stared up at the ceiling of the cave in thought, silently frowning now as even her dragon drifted off into a sleep.

While certain his own dragon was not yet fully asleep, perhaps to make sure he didn’t slip out in the night- Hiccup wasn’t yet asleep either. He kept thinking of that hapless way Castiel had grasped her arm and averted her gaze with such a forced smile and couldn’t think what had caused it. Was his company really so awful that she was bothered by him staying? He couldn’t rest with that thought on mind so went to carefully resolve it.

Silently, which would be easier of the metal his leg didn’t graze the stones once or twice as he edged closer, he moved to sit next to her. Certain now that she was in fact still awake. “Castiel?” He asked in a whisper as to not wake the sleeping dragons “what’s wrong?”

As Castiel layed there she could have sworn she heard metal scrap against the stone floor of the cave, but she just thought for a moment there that it was Hiccup moving to get comfortable in his sleep. It was only when he was right beside her that she realized he was coming to speak to her. She sat up and looked at him, frowning slightly when he asked what was wrong. She looked down a moment sheepishly, "Well, I..." She paused when she heard the baby dragons stirring at her voice. Silently she stood and motioned for him to follow her outside so the two of them wouldn't wake the sleeping dragons.

Once outside she sat on the edge of one of the cliff sides and sighed, looking down, "It's dumb really.......I just....I guess I was just thinking about.....everything? You see.....growing up, as you can imagine, I wasn't a very popular person in my village. I wasn't viking enough for anyone. My parents were kind of on the low scale of the Vikings already by being a Baker and one of the Fighters for the village, but at least they were Viking-Like. But me, I was never Viking-Like at all. I couldn't even lift a shield or axe, much less use one. Every time my parents looked at me....it was like....they hated me. Like they wished I had never been born..."

She looked down now, her long hair hanging her her face, acting as a curtain between the two, "The first person, well not really a person, to rally accept me was Aurora. I always thought dragons were the only beings I could trust and that I would never find another human who was even some what like me. So, I guess, when I met you, I thought maybe I wasn't the only person who was different. That maybe I wasn't the only 'outcast' out there....but....we are pretty different aren't we? I mean....you're the chief of your village, popular with both humans and dragons, and.....perfect. And me, I'm just an outcast who has a gift for dragons. I guess its just......a feel of.....loneliness? That even the only other dragon rider I've met to be as close to dragons as I am is not as....looked down upon as I am? Not that I wish that on anyone because I don't, I would never wish those horrible feelings on anyone. I guess I just wanted to meet someone who....understood what its like....."

Sighing she shook her head at the own things she had just said, staying in the same position with her looking down and her hair in her face but curled her knees to her chest, "Like I said, its just dumb thoughts....its not anything you did and I'm sorry if you thought that."

There was words in there that he would have never used to describe himself, he was far from perfect- he’d made so many mistakes. An outsider might see him as more than he was but the accomplished individual he had become was in such strong contrast to who he use to be… He sat down beside her on the cliff edge and listened to her talk. He knew that some of this already but also knew that it was difficult for her to say because the issues with her village had never truly been resolved. If he interrupted now she would probably close up to sharing so he just listened.

As she finished he reached over and gave her hand a gentle squeeze, extending a show of comfort. “Earlier you mentioned that my name was odd for a Viking. Most of my life I was the hiccup, a mistake. My father wanted a strong son and surely felt the gods had skimmed on the meat in his sandwich. You know… if I was the sandwich.” He added with a small smile before puffing up his chest and speaking in a gruffer voice “every time you step outside disaster strikes.” He quoted of Stoick before hunching forward again, arms comfortably resting against his knees.

“I wasn’t wanted, I couldn’t even kill a dragon and that meant everything to Berk. Not because I didn’t want to because at the time I really did but because I lacked all the things necessary to do so… in their eyes.” His gaze shifted towards the sky “But then I shot down Toothless. I used what I learned from him to fool everyone in dragon training but I was no ‘dragon slayer‘, I tried to tell my dad I couldn‘t kill dragons but he didn‘t listen.” He stressed “he never… listened…” What bothered him was not the memory but a death still too fresh. He averted his gaze and went on slightly more muffled. “Things were so different back then than they are now. The dragons were our enemies… They raided us almost nightly… Maybe it's not the same but I can still say I know the feeling. I just took the steps to change things and uh... lost my leg in the process.” He added with a small snort of amusement. "Fair exchange I guess since I ruined Toothless' tailfin. Don't you think?"

When he took her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze Castiel slowly looked up at him and listened to what he had said. So, he hadn't always been like this. He used to be just like her. Outcasted in certain ways. Not liked by his people with his first friend being a dragon. She smiled slightly as he mimicked his father, thinking her parents probably thought the same thing back when she had lived with them. They had probably hoped for a strong and brave daughter that could surely marry a war hero and bring their family up in the village. Not the worthless girl who was nothing more than a pretty face.

She brushed her hair back from her eyes now and shrugged, "Parents never do listen. But....I guess I was just hoped....maybe one day they would see me as something more than a tool to bring pride to themselves." She sighed and shrugged, "Well, now that I'm away from there they can have another kid who can and I can be happy with my dragon So I guess there's nothing more for me to think about." She looked over at him and smiled at the mention of him loosing a leg and Toothless his tail fin, "It makes you two a team. And give you character. Makes you special. " She looked at the metal leg, "It's what makes you you."

Standing, she brushed herself off before looking at him, "Well, we better get some sleep. If I know baby dragons, then if I'm correct they'll be up at the crack of dawn." She joked slightly and when he stood as well she started walking back toward the entrance of the cave and paused, looking back at him, "And Hiccup? Thank you....not many people would care enough to actually make sure I was alright." She smiled at him and then turned, entering the cave to go lay back down next to her dragon, very soon after falling asleep.

The thing about his parents was he knew they both loved him- no matter how stern or hardheaded they could be and he worried that maybe Castiel didn’t even have that. Surely it hurt them to know she was gone? There was no way they would just replace her. He would like to assure her of as much but not all people were inherently good and he wouldn’t be fool enough to just assume again. Maybe they would see how great she was one day because she had done the impossible in their village but he couldn’t push her to return. She was happy here with Aurora.

He followed her lead in standing and idled as she headed back towards the cave- she was pretty great he just didn’t think she realized that yet. He returned the smile as she disappeared inside and then entered himself. Toothless curled his tail towards him as he lay down, brushing his nose with the prosthetic fin. His saddle was absent and all there was, was the rebuilt piece of work that allowed Toothless flight on his own. Hiccup pushed it away from himself as he settled down.

Toothless would have to return to Berk, he was the alpha and an alpha protected their own. He’d have to go back or all the dragons would move here and if all the dragons moved here… so would Berk.

Hiccup slept on these thoughts and woke early the next day, stretching out and sitting up slowly. He mused his messy hair and peered about the cave at its other occupants. The sun was close to rise- the sky outside tickled with pinks at the horizon. He needed to get going but he should wait he knew… to tell the others he was heading off.

When Castiel woke, she wasn't sure how this had happened but in the middle of the night the three baby dragons had ended up around her; one under her arm, one behind her knees and the other at her feet while Aurora's wing was gently layed over them. Maybe it was habit from all of those early morning flights with Aurora but she woke around the same time the hatchlings did and laughed slightly as they woke up along with her, instantly hopping up, licking Castiel's face before crawling out from under their mother's wing and going excitingly over to Hiccup. Crawling out from under the wing as well she smiled and stood up, "They seem ready for the day. Wish I was that energetic in the morning."

She patted the sleepy dragoness Aurora making a grumbling sound at the annoyance of being woken up, especially when her little hatchlings came over and decided to hop onto her back. She opened her eyes and gave a huff that caused the babies to roll off, only for them to give playful sounds and try to do the same thing again. This time Aurora gave in and stood up, getting happy sounds from her children as the mother and babies walked outside the cave to explore slightly. Aurora never let them get more than a few feet from the cave though, for fear of loosing her babies to a cliff or another creature that might be on the hunt. She kept a sharp eye out and let them stay out for a few moments before deciding it was time to bring them back in.

Aurora led them back in, though didn't come in herself. Castiel watched in confusion as Aurora flew off somewhere, and watching in the distance how Aurora went to the water a little ways away, swooping down and coming back to the cave with some fish in her mouth before swollowing it. The hatchlings got excited then and swarmed their mother, knowing what she was doing and soon she spit out the portion of the food meant for the babies. Castiel rubbed the back of her neck, "You know, I could probably go the rest of my life happy without seeing another dragon spit out fish." Aurora gave her a signature smack on the head with her tail and Castiel grinned at her, "What? I'm just teasing, girl. I've seen enough dragons feed their young on the island to know that's how they eat." She commented with a laugh as her dragon huffed, trying to smack her again but she ducked before she could.

She walked over to where Hiccup was and when she saw the look on his face, gave a slight smile, "You have to go, don't you?"

Hiccup had dealt with plenty of baby dragons but that didn‘t make these handful of them any easier, getting rushed and batting them lightly with his hand then scratching and rubbing their soft scales as they swarmed. “Oh boy, you guy sure are lively.” A sleepy Toothless swept them away with his tail. They didn’t seem severally bothered and rushed to hop all over their mother instead.

There was something nice about this- a complete family.

Toothless got to his feet, stretching out in a cat like manner before heading out as well to warm his scales with sunlight and briefly roll around in the grass as the hatchlings played. Aurora made a really good mother from what he could see. Too bad he couldn’t stick around and help out with this though he would NEVER tell anyone about how Toothless had barfed up a fish for him and expected him to eat it. He got shudders just watching Aurora do the same for the babies.

He glanced at Castiel with a weak smile “yeah. I really have to get back to Berk… but I’m sure our dragons and the hatchlings will be fine with you helping out with things.” He assured. “If I wasn’t chief… I would stay.” He straightened to his feet “but I am and I can’t.”

Castiel gave him a soft smile and nodded, "I understand. I think we'll be fine too." She said, looking back as the babies ate before she turned her gaze to him once more, "Besides, it shouldn't be long before the little ones can make the flight back." Maybe a week or two. Surely things would be fine with just her watching over them during that time. It would be great for her to have this experience, helping to raise the baby Fury/Arcus dragons, and while she wished Hiccup could be a part of this as well, she knew he did have his responsibilities there he had to take care of.

The life of a chief as he called it. Though, she silently wondered and worry if all these responsibilities were taking their toll on him. After all, it wasn't good for someone to stay so consumed in work all the time, was it? She could only hope things would ease up for him. She found it strange for her to be thinking of this since he barely had spent much time with him and didn't know much about his village itself. But she did think that way and wished the best for him in leading his people, as well as finding time to take care of himself.

She hesitated a moment as she stood there, wanting to tell him by maybe even give him a friendly hug goodbye, but thought better of that. For all she knew he already had someone waiting for him back at his village, and she knew if it was her she would not like to have someone she was with hugging another woman. And thought she didn't know for sure whether or not he did have someone, she played it on the safe side and gave him a slight smile before holding out her hand as if to give him a hand shake, "I guess.....I'll see you....soon?"

When she held out her hand after a moment of what seemed to be uncertainty- there was bother in her voice. He figured she was just worried about helping with the hatchlings alone in this cave but was certain she’d be fine. It was hard to believe she’d been alone on her island throughout the nesting season and was glad she decided to stay here now where she‘d have Aurora as company. The two seemed as close as him and Toothless. It was no good living the life of an outcast.

“Castiel,” Despite her offered hand he stepped forward and tugged her forward into a warm hug, wanting to offer her the comfort he wouldn’t be able to when he was gone. “Don’t think so little of yourself. What your doing here… it’s really great.” He pulled back “and we’re friends so I’ll definitely see you again.” He finished, turning and walking from the cave but before leaving he glanced back with a smile at her before raising a hand to catch Toothless’ attention. “Good luck with those babies bud.”

Toothless gurgled and clicked in response chasing Hiccup out as he mounted the other dragon. After a silent exchange between them Hiccup scratched the nightfury upon the head and took off into the sky.

Castiel was surprised when he pulled her into a warm hug but it was pleasantly so. She hugged him back with a smile on her face and when he pulled back she felt a blush on her cheeks. Brushing a strand f hair behind her ears, she nodded at what he said, and though the word friend kind of hurt considering she was definitely had feelings for him, it still made her somewhat happy to have someone consider her as even a friend and that feeling of being accepted in such a way overwhelmed those sad feeling with happy ones. She smiled brightly at him, "Thank you Hiccup. I'll see you when these two love birds, or well, love dragons and the babies decide they want to fly back to Berk."

Now, what happened when that time came was all up in the air at the moment. She wondered where she would go when that time came. Toothless of course would have to stay in Berk with Hiccup. But, wouldn't Aurora want to stay with Toothless? And the babies as well.Where would that leave her? Again those thoughts of worry entered her mind, but she pushed them down to smile and watch as Hiccup said goodbye to Toothless. It was really sweet ow those two got along so well. It was a lot like how she and Aurora were. It caused her smile to soften and as he flew off she waved goodbye to him, hoping she could see him again very soon.

When he disappeared from view she sighed and made her way into the cave once more, gently scratching Toothless under the chin, "Don't worry Toothless, well get to see him again soon enough."

Toothless was worried about his rider having too much on his plate and he wasn’t there for him- with everything going on. He knew Hiccup understood but he was still his best friend and he felt bad that it had to be like this. Still he rumbled with contentment at the scratches and bumped his head gently into Castiel before moving towards Aurora and the hatchlings.

A few hours after Hiccup’s departure there was a rumble in the distance and a great shuddering off the land. Toothless was instantly alert, lurching up to his feet and running to the mouth of the cave. He narrowed his eyes in the direction of the main water ways before turning his head and barking at Aurora to keep the hatchlings safe and inside. From around one of the cliffs a large head appeared- one massive horn taking the lead as a dragon nearly massive beyond comprehension… pushed through the water currents. Toothless immediately got down on his haunches baring his teeth and furling up his wings in warning. Get no closer was the obvious message he was trying to push upon the intruder.

Then there came another, appearing upon the bewilder beast’s head with a smile most foul. There was a crackle at the back of Toothless’ throat and his scales lit up with his inner fire, eyes blazing with anger this human should have inhaled the water of the sea and lived no more but here the disgusting man was- laughing. “If isn’t the night fury but where is the great dragon master?” He called out spreading his arms out wide. “You’re all alone you miserable beast.” Toothless inhaled, rising up on his hide legs and shooting what he considered a warning shot. Raining chunks of the cliff side down upon the huge dragon and causing it to momentarily duck its head. The man kept on laughing though. “Call out your mistress night fury or I will have your family forever intomed in ice.” Frost lifted from the bewilder beast’s mouth, a sure sign that this was a realistic threat.

Castiel had been resting, leaning back against the cave wall and watching the little hatchlings pay, when the ground began to tremble, leaving Toothless alert and running to the mouth of the cave to view what was going on before barking at Aurora, the dragoness instantly growling and sweeping her babies up in her tail, pulling them close and leaning over them in a protective manner as her mate crouched and growled in warning, shooting a few shots. At all this commotion Castiel had hopped to her feet and reached to her back, grabbing her bow and peeked out of the entrance to take a glance of the scene, her eyes going wide at what she saw.

She had never seen a dragon so big. What was that? She paused there for a moment, taking in its appearance. Whatever type of dragon it was, it looked like it had taken a beating before from ts missing horn on one side She looked over to Toothless and for some reason had a hunch the dragon who had done this to the larger dragon was Toothless. Toothless didn't seem happy about seeing this dragon at all, and even more so about the man that was riding this dragon. She didn't like the looks of this man either and the way he spoke to Toothless. And even more so when he threatened her dragon and the babies.

She went back over to Aurora and the babies, unsure of what she should do, but figured the best thing she could do was stay with the young ones and keep them safe. As she sat there now, Aurora took Castiel watching over the three babies as a chance to go help her mate and went to stand beside him, growling, her mouth lighting up with purple plasma as if ready to shoot it at the two to fight along with her mate.

The sight of two plasma filled dragons ready to open fire upon these intruders should have brought fear shuddering through the man in massive waves. Instead his laugh was booming, his smile absolutely feral. “This is my lucky day.” The massive bewilder beast turned its unwavering gaze onto Aurora, gaze intensifying as it forced its will over them. Toothless growled at the invisible pressure but didn’t falter until he noticed Aurora’s distress. And he jerked his head in bother- rumbling and then barking when she only became more disturbed.

He was the stronger dragon here. This bewilder beast should have no power here? Toothless did not understand but could not turn his back on this foul man to see what was wrong with his mate. He could not surrender his position one but bit without it being a show of weakness. He turned his head and bellowed at the massive dragon. “That’s right!” The man shouted back with a sneer on his face, “your mate is MINE!”

Toothless roared again but noticed a lack of movement at his side in a change in posture, the way her wings slumped and her head dipped submissively. He looked at her more fully, still watching the enemy from the corner of his eye though the fire coloring his scales softened a bit as he clicked at her. She didn’t even look at him though- just spread her wings and lifted off. Hovering in front of the massive dragon. “Tell her to call the babies.” He ordered, then with more force “tell her!”

No. He was the stronger dragon. Once more a roar bellowed out of Toothless’ throat and the plasma rose up but then Aurora made the call- a mother’s call. From the cave the hatchlings suddenly perked up and came sprinting, jumping away from Castiel as they ran. There small wings flapped frantically as they saw their mother in the sky. Toothless startled at the sight of them and made to snag one but a shot from his mate forced him to spring back, shouting again. This time for the hatchlings to not heed her, to come to him but they were calling for their mother- still so young to think she was everything. Rushing to her despite the emotionless eyes.
