I figured as much, with all the time spent on this, you'd have a wide array of options. As far as a specialization I'm not sure, leaning towards earth or force.

Why not both? Well, actually there'es pretty viable arguments either way. On one hand, you get to utilize two different forms of magic, allowing you to adapt when one type falters. On the other hand, focusing on only one will make you much more powerful in that school.

Also Mercury and I are currently putting skills together on the spreadhseet. If you want to look at what we have so far (which you will be able to see it being updated in real-time), it could possibly help you think about how you want to build your character.

Say, just a question, um, would it be okay if I had a non-human character in this? As in, not just flat-out play as some random animal, instead, he'd be someone who failed with a summoning spell, or had a complete failure while casting a FTH-based spell... I'm trying to decide what kind of creature that he'd end up as, though...
Oh, and, I suppose if I were to put him in a class, it would be the Red Mage... as in, completely balanced stats, capable (though not great) at whatever you ask him to do, however, he'd have very low FTH (possibly even 3 at level 1) why, though? He's an athiest, lol (a better description is that he lost his faith after failing so badly at that summon/spell, thinking that no sane deity would allow that to happen). Anywho, I'm just posting 'cause I'm interested, and this would be my first RP to use actual stats and calculations (I didn't even play any D&D type games, but I kinda know how they work).

Anywho, his stats should still be balanced for a level one character, and he'd still be capable of speaking (especially with decently high DEX and INT), and I was thinking that, due to his atheism, once Dark magic is discovered by the players, he MAY (I'm not the one in charge here) be the first character to use it... again, only if you don't mind.

First of all, welcome to The Dark Star, Lugia!

Allow me to address each of your concerns. Some of the more lore-based answers I give are more-so my judgement based on the world that MercuryHg34 (my co-GM) has explained to me as our Lore-GM, and anything I don't fully answer for you can be better explained by him. The more game-play focused questions will probably have more concise answers, as I'm the Mechanical-GM.

The short answer is "kinda." Mercury said earlier on that the only sentient race in this RP is humans. However, after reading your questions over my shoulder, he told me to tell you that you could play as possibly a humanoid, possibly a mutant that is still technically human, transformed in your backstory. Such deformities could lead to extraordinary abilities that appear on your character's Personal Skills.

We aren't playing with classes at all. You will be able to mold your character's abilities as you see fit with access to every skill and non-personal ability in the game. This lets some players emulate traditional classes for ease of play while other players get creative and build something no one's ever seen before!

Having low FTH is fine, but Atheism is something that would just be side-eyed very easily by other characters in the world. Evidence of the Guardian Deities existences is obviously prominent in this world, so outright denying their existence is, while entirely your own choice, not wise if you intend to have at least decent relations with NPC's and other PC's. Low FTH can also be interpreted as apathy or ignorance towards the tenants or concerns of the Guardian Deities.

Also, any questions or comments about Dark Magic OOC will not be addressed by GMs in any way. It is our intention that the players are... kept in the dark...

Hm... well, that kinda sucks. So, I can't have my character be some sort of dragonlike creature, then? If mutant, still has to look very human, I'm assuming. Well, I tried. Anywho, the atheism thing was just a sort of thought on how to maybe have that explained in a backstory, if it doesn't make any sense in that world, then that's fine (to be honest, apathy kinda works better anyways), and I didn't really want ALL of my stats the same.... anywho, this seems like a great, and very well thought-out and put-together RP, but, I'm really not very good at RPing human characters, as I end up losing interest in them quickly, unfortunately. (and yes, I've tried before, it didn't work)

Sorry to hear that. You're still free to join the game under the conditions set before you if you so choose. Mercury has shared with me that joining in-progress after the game starts can also be a thing. Which is something we'll probably sort out after we start.

Alright, then... so, how humanoid are we talking here? As in, something along the lines of star-trek aliens, or something more like as long as it has two arms, two legs, and a generally human shape, it's fine?

Think along the lines of Human (not just humanoid), but with having some physical mutation such as wings or an abnormally shaped arm, horns, etc.

In other news, skills are coming along well. Hopefully we'll be ready to start assigning skills to characters by tonight/early tomorrow.

Also, Konica I like your character a lot, looks fine so far.
