Those giant spinning pineapples?

What niche did they own in the ecosystem?

What role did shadowhands play in the local ecosystem? I don't think you're supposed to ask these kinds of questions.

They played the role of eating the mice, and other bothersome creatures from the dungeon.

Except that they didn't, because the dungeon was still overpopulated with baddies. So...

I'd love to see you attempt to justify the existence behind every creature in the Zelda universe, Nat.

Simple.

The Peahats (or flying pineapples, whatever) are plants with the ability to hop up and hover short distances by spinning like those little propeller seeds you see on maple trees. Following so far?

Now this obviously offers several evolutionary advantages. Chiefly, they are not reliant on the weather or even animals (any fruit/ vegetable bearing plant) to carry their seeds (see helicopter seeds) or spore to new locations, they can do that all themselves. Since plants have been shown to react to stimuli by releasing chemicals, which is an adaptation used by some plants to communicate with other ones to warn of danger among other things, these plants are evidently evolved enough to detect pheromones of animals. The sharp blades of the peahat which are used to keep it suspended for a short time are deadly sharp and can be used to kill animals, which will provide nutrients via decomposition for the newly planted seeds to germinate and sprout, thus completing the cycle and growing more peahats.

Given this is a universe where an entire race of plant people gained sentience and are capable of verbal communication and building a civilization, as well as grasping the intricacies of a country-spanning economic system that encourages trading and bartering among other races, the fact there's murderous plants the likely try to kill you so they can gestate more seeds isn't exactly a stretch of the imagination.

Give me a list of creatures, and I will find some reason.

Cut the hands some slack, they giant hands, they are lazy, and mostly masturbate.

Why do you think they just kick link back to the beginning of the dungeon rather then kill him.

They going " Yeah man, come back later when I am done cleaning" And then you as link go back and murder it before it's done cleaning for you. And yes it talks like it from Jamaica.

Here I thought there only role, was to scare away the skelekids.

Why else do they only come out at night when the pineapples blade thing is sleeping.

Too bad it's wrong. They spit out mini babys of themselves rather then plant them on dead corpses.
