The gravel under Snow's boots crunched in the silent night, his eyes set only in one direction. Ice blue eyes held no kindness as he passed each stranger, each face showing their longing for him in their own ways. He only smirked to himself as a group of women tried showing off rather flamboyantly, and he shook his head, his white hair only shaking slightly. He was a bigger man, bulky, muscular and tall. His hair was white, ironically, with streaks of black jetting his hair. Plain white got so boring after all. Might as well flare it up after a while.
"Snow." A tiny female voice tinkled in the night, the slim form of his younger sister emerging from his right. Winter was a small thing, at the age of seventeen, she was way more mature than others. Her hair was jet black, streaked with white; the exact opposite of his. Her hair fell down past her waist originally, but she had it pulled together in a braid. Winter was beautiful in her own way, but she as the exact opposite of her brother. Where she was quiet, withdrawn, in a shell ever since their parents had died, Snow was cocky, conceited in his own way, not to mention he relished the chance to show off.
"Snow!" Her voice broke through his thoughts one more and Snow looked down at his sister thoughtfully as he pulled off his slouch hat, pulling his bangs back away from his face with a hair tie he had.
"Yeah, yeah." He waved her off as continued on, but Winter deliver a swift kick to his knees, dragging out a vulgar curse from her brother's lips. "Winter! The hell?!"
"I came back early for a reason. Someone left a book for us by Momma's and Papa's tomb." Winter's slim gloved fingers held out a dusty book with burnt yellow pages, something that their family could only read. But nobody was supposed to know about their magic. "Someone knows. That means we're being followed."
"Like you said the other day," Snow murmured, tugging his hat back on, a finger twirling around with a small braid in the back of his hair. "We can handle them if they come at us. Well. I can." A grin formed on a scruffy face.
"Shut up. You know you're going to need my help." Winter smiled playfully, and pushed her fist into her brother's shoulder. "But I want to practice tonight. I like playing with fire and ice at the same time." There was some kind of strange content tone in her voice, and excitement to her eyes. She had a knack with the elements, and enjoyed the sight of burning water and steam.
Snow only rolled his eyes at her, sighing. "Why would you want to practice with someone followings us around? It spells trouble."
"Says Mr. Reckless. Every time I want to practice, you shoot me down. Especially when you want me to defend myself." Snow bristled at that and glared down into eyes that matched his, holding an equal degree of hostility. He clenched his fists before he turned away, growling.
"Fine. Fine. I don't care. Get yourself in trouble. I want no part in it."
"Scared you won't find Suzanne? Only I know where she is, big brother. And you know that." A grin overtook the girl's face as she trotted up to him. "That and I'm your little sister. You're stuck with me."
"Fan-friggin'-tastic.." The man grumbled as he started to walk again, his good mood ruined, the tinkle of his sister's laugh echoing behind him as her boots crunched beside him.
