OK so, this is just a general, somewhat bare-bones idea for a roleplay. I got this idea based off this quote I heard:
"When the old you is dead and gone, you're gonna have to own up to whatever is left." That quote was from Deadman Wonderland, and in Deadman Wonderland, they have blood-based powers, and if they use it to much... Well, they die of blood loss.
That really got me thinking. What if, there was a world with superpowers, but all the powers had costs? Very deadly costs. Say you have telepathy. But the more and more you use it, the more you read minds, telepathically talk, the more it drives you insane, breaks you, makes you immoral, evil, whatever it is you don't want to be in the world.
Anybody interested?

What about telekinesis that functions by creating almost a sort of high-powered atomic wind? Too powerful and not only will it shred whatever is trying to be manipulated, but it'll also tear at the caster like they were being hit with a sandblaster. Higher control would let them reduce the damage they take and exert more force on something before they started to tear at it, but they would always have to be careful with it no matter how much control they have.

That would be pretty cool, and would fit into the theme of like "superpowers with a cost".

So what kinda setting / world would this be? Once I know that, I can start putting together a solid character idea.

I think around modern times, potentially with slightly more advanced tech. So probably in around 2020, most likely in a city like New York.
