"With all the new technology people are saying that newspapers are a thing of the past. If newspapers go out business who can say if photographers wont be next. Studies show that less and less people are showing an interest in the field of photography." Zack explained. "If the younger generation loses interest in photography the field could die out."

Harley visibly relaxed. She scoffed and waved her hand before popping another piece of fruit from her drink into her mouth. "Newspapers won't die. Sure we might go mainstream and stick to the internet, but we will never die." She sighed and ran a hand through her fly away bangs. "And neither will photography. News or not, photography is a form of art. People crave the beauty of art to escape their dull realities. Even if the rare few have the passion for it, it will never truly die." Quinn thought of all her photos, the ones she took with passion. Most of them had been blown up to large scale and hung on canvases about her apartment. She would never tire of looking at them. "The search for beauty in a bleak world will never die," she affirmed again.

"The arts lose funding every year. Few and few schools offer art classes. Most elementaries can only once a week. Some have gone as far as charging student for supplies. You can see why some people might be considered about the arts dying out." Zack told her. He loved her passion. Few people on his world felt this strongly. Emotions were nearly exstinct on his world. That was one of the reasons they had began seeking mates from other worlds. With no emotions there was no creativity. Without creativity there world couldn't grow.

Harley picked a grape from her drink and threw it playfully at the stranger's chest. "Duh dude! We are in the middle of an economic slump and surrounded by morons. Schools are more interested in the pigheaded profession of sports. It doesn't mean artists are dead though. We're still out there. We still fight to be seen, to be heard, and to be understood. It isn't the artist fault that the world has its head shoved up it's own tailpipe." Quinn rolled her eyes at the very notion. Flipping her braid off her shoulder, she reached into her drink and popped an orange slice into her mouth. She still didn't believe this guy was who he claimed, but she couldn't drop a debate on art when it dangled itself in her face like this.

"I agree with you. I believe the artist are out there struggling to keep the creativity and beauty in the world. I am hoping that my book will give hope the young generation. Maybe it will provide funding for struggling artist. The better my book highlights what artist bring to this world. I want to do everything I can to preserve the joy that the arts give the world." Zack told her.

Harley knew she was glowing but couldn't help it. Her family never understood her like this stranger did. He got the passion and the struggle and the misunderstanding and the joy. Then a thought struck her and she smiled. "You know, you still haven't told me who you are." She smiled at him before picking up her drink and playfully chewing on the straw. Sure she knew she was playing with fire, but what harm? He was a stranger who would leave and never see her again. There was no shame in a little light flirting with someone who actually understood her. Was there?

"How rude of me. My name is Zack Green. I am new to this area." Zack explained. He chuckled at the how true the statement was. He wondered what she would think if he told her just how true that statement was. Not only he wasn't not from the area be wasn't from this planet. If anyone could accept someone from another world it was someone who loved the arts. He hope to be able to tell her the truth some day.

Harley set down her glass and promptly stuck out her right hand. The face of her watch caught the sunlight through the window and danced around the room. "Harley Quinnet. Photo journalist for the New York Sun. Don't feel bad about being new. I've only lived in the area a few weeks myself." She hoped she sounded reassuring and pleasent. She never could quite tell though. The fact that she didn't dress like normal Manhattan girls didn't help much either, but she liked who she was. It didn't matter if people accepted her or not. Some people thought her style was odd, but she enjoyed the out of ordinary way she looked. The world may be boring, but Quinn tried her best not to be.

Zack smiled at her. He liked that she was different from the rest if the humans he had meet so far. "It is nice met you. Would you be willing to introduce other artist that want to encourage the young artist out there." He wanted to encourage the chances of them meeting again. The more they met the better his chances of winning her over.

Harley chewed absentmindedly on the corner of her lower lip. She was deep in thought and didn't notice the small gesture. After a moment she sighed and shook her head. "Unfortunately, I haven't lived here long enough to know any other artists. The only people I know are those I meet during job runs for the paper. And I barely know them as it is." She shrugged lightly before inelegantly digging into her cup with her fingers and pulling out another apple chunk. She put her elbow on the table and rested her chin in her palm, chewing thoughtfully.

"Oh well I guess I will have to struggle on my own." Zack told her. If she couldn't introduce him to others how could he get her to spend time with him? Who would have thought that getting to know one mate would be so difficult. He sighed know that he was going to have to find another way to get her to notice him. "Well thank you for your time. I would like to interview you for my book. A bio or something if that would be alright with you."

Harley nearly choked on the sip of tea she had just taken. After coughing and spluttering for a moment, she looked at the man across from her incredulously. "You want to interview me? Why? I'm no one special. I'm not even a real artist, just a photo journalist for a newspaper." she stated flatly. He had to be joking. There were hundreds of real artists all over the city. Why would anyone care about the thoughts of a measly little photographer like her? It didn't make any sense at all.

"I disagree. I think you are special and I think your an artist. Your name is well know in the news. Having your name linked to my book could help it sell." Zack explained. He smiled pleased that he had made her curious enough to continue their conversation. Hopefully he convince her to do the interview. It would be a good way to find put more about her.

Harley shook her head and stared into her now empty cup of tea. "I'm no one special. And my name is never more than a footnote in the news. I'm a nobody in art and in the papers. You'd have better luck going to one of the galleries around town and finding a real artist. That is the kind of interview you need." She sighed sadly and looked out the window. She was lost deep in her own thoughts. It didn't matter how this one stranger saw her. To the rest of the world, she was invisible. She had never sold a single photo, so how could anyone think she was any good?

"I'm just starting my writing career." zack explained. Figuring that was a good reason for him not to go to the galleries. "the galleries won't talk to me let alone introduce me to successful artist. Surely the words of a struggling artist are just as important as one that is successful?"
