The world, and the history, was generated in Dwarf Fortress! I love this game, and I've always wanted to try adapting a roleplay from one of the sprawling histories it can generate. I'm hoping this will be episodic in form, i.e. the group of heroes will take on a major task and complete it, and then perhaps start a new quest entirely if the party at the time wants to. So, without further ado, here's the story we'll be working with:

"The Age of Myth was a time when living gods and mighty beasts still held sway."
In a time before time, only the mighty dragon Nganiz and the fearsome titan Laketusnung existed. Their clash brought forth creation. Each breath of Nganiz' searing flames evoked light, forming the sun in the sky. Laketusnung's powerful rage flowed forth as a mighty torrent, creating the roaring oceans. It was then, in the final days of their battle, that Laketusnung struck forward, gripping the mighty dragon by his throat.
With one fell swoop, the dragon was defeated, left destroyed by Laketusnung, the mighty titan. The dragon's body erupted into a shower of sparks, throwing themselves amongst the sky, dotting the night as the stars.
With his conflict resolved, Laketusnung fell into a deep sleep, his body corroding to become the soil, creating the lands and the mountains and the caves. From deep within these caves two hundred years later, life would emerge. Man, the Dwarves, and the Elves took their hold over the world, claiming it as theirs- And thus, the Age of Legends began.

It has been one thousand years since the many Folk inhabited Laketus. The Grand Confederation of Darmadanth, a conglomerate of all races, holds power in the center of the world. To the north, however, darkness brews as a monstrous tower of jet black obsidian has been cloven from the ground by a powerful Necromancer who seeks to overtake all.
In the port town of Oltaras on the eastern coast of Laketus, the human King Athes has posted adverts across the town on bright parchment requesting the employ of any able-bodied adventurers who seek fame and fortune, for toppling the tower would surely bring any adventurer both in immeasurable amounts...
It is here that our story begins, in the year 500, where a group of unlikely heroes would band together and make to the north towards Ivnstaer, the Black Tower.

Keep in mind that I have to approve your character. Magic is allowed, but we're not summoning up giant flaming whirlwinds and making dragons fly out of our butts.
ALSO! If you want to play the Necromancer (main villain), you're more than welcome to; After approval I'll PM whoever decides to with a couple plot details I'd like them to keep in mind as we go.
Final note, the circled region on the attached map is where we'll be starting. Once we have a few characters, we'll get started!
