"If you wouldn't mind, Your Spookiness," Alastor said as he shot them a dirty look, "I would like to get our job done safe and sound. I am sure these fine gents would like the same for themselves. Let's just both be on our way."

"Penalty of multiple major crimes has a penalty of no less than thirty years in prison or can carry the death penalty for serious violations," the tiny man squeaks out from atop his wagon. Immediately after spouting this, he crawls into the covered area of his cart to hide. The highwaymen surrounding the wagon begin laughing, and closing in on your group. However, the sound of galloping horses thunders down the road. "They're ahead! Don't let them get away!" The voices sound humanoid, and they cause brigands to grimace and retreat with the loot they collected from the previous travelers.

OOC: Aw, we could have taken them.

"And that sounds like the proper law enforcement." Gratianus gave a wry smirk, which vanished quickly as he turned to the wounded woman. "Hopefully, they'll be able to get you to safety." He shouted back to the wagon "You can come out now. Bandits are running."

[OOC: we could have, I was just staying in character

The alchemist rolls his eyes and sits up in the wagon. "We aren't being paid to be good Samaritans," Alastor chides, "we're being paid for safe transit. Picking fights is the opposite of safe."

The ninja snorts, eyeing the half-orc. "If I did only what I was paid to do, I'd have left this line of work long ago."

As you wait on the road, the sound of the approaching riders fades before they reach you, eventually becoming little more than an echo that is drowned out by the wind in the trees. "Can we get out of here? asks the bloody woman. "I'm beginning to dislike these woods."

[OOC] Sorry, been getting super distracted, trying to get back on board with this.

Desgoffe is broken out of his daze and gives the bloody woman a displeased expression. "Wait just a moment," Desgoffe says to the woman. "What do you mean by, 'Can we get out of here?'"

"Could I ride with you?" she asks. "I can't get back on my own."

[OOC] Will be sending in my character sheet tomorrow, finished it and have to scan it.

Desgoff shrugs and says, "Fine by me, as long as you don't weigh us down."

"I have no problems with it." Arzhel moves over to make room for the woman to lie down.

The rest of the day's travels are uneventful. Smirk finds a secluded cliffside for you to camp next to. "Should we rest for the night though?" he asks. "We've got this weak woman and violent brigands in the surrounding area. What do you think guards?"

"If we do stop for the night," Alastor ponders aloud, "we would need guards awake. Perhaps tending a fire, if we lack those with the gift of night sight." He would certainly prefer to get a good night's rest... but would stand guard if he had to. He certainly wouldn't volunteer, though.

Gratianus shrugged. "Nerva and I can take a shift; we don't need a fire to see by night."

"I'll take a shift also, I'm not one for sleeping during the night anyway," Desgoffe says. "Plus, these dwarven eyes are well suited for the dark."

OOC: What will your watch order be?

So as the sun sets, the caravan stops amid the sheltered rocks. Smirk helps the five of you gather wood together and lights it with some flint he kept in the wagon. Being a skilled cook, the woman, who introduces herself as Seelah, sits by the fire and uses the bit of food on her to make a stew for the party. "It's the least I can do in payment," she says. Finally, the darkness of night creeps in and most of you turn in. All except for the first watchman who observes the rather open roadways.

OOC: I can be the first watchman.

Desgoffe tends to the fire and occasionally walks around the surrounding camp, using his keen sense of sight to observe the area blanketed by darkness. He listens carefully for any odd sounds beyond the normal rumbling of the local animals. He finds himself to be hardly tired and occasionally fiddles with a stick.

Make a Perception check Desgoffe. Everyone else can as well with a -10 penalty for being asleep.
