Name: Million C. Bonefinger (Sometimes referred to as simply "Spirit")

"...Yes, I can help with that..."
Age: 23

Gender: Male

Race: "Selian" A scarce race who appear mostly human, live around the same time on average, and have often been mistaken for ghosts in the past. They used to live farther north in the high and cold mountains, but a few have managed to find themselves dwelling near Kado.

Appearance: "Spirit" Is a tall man standing at 7'6. He is thin and his limbs are long, making him look even taller still. He has a slightly tanned tone brought about days in the sun and long wavy locks of dark brown. His shoulders are broad and his hands are grand, making him seem large. His chin is dotted with black hair, framing his thick lips and underlining his straight flat nose, spreading over he cheeks to boot. His eyes are deep green, catching darkness more than light. He carries an air of stoicism about him and his eyes usually show deep thought to build upon that aura. His ears are a bit large looking and often stick out a bit even from under his long hair. He wears a green tunic with brown lining and matching brown trousers. Several belts of leather drape him, one around his waist, one from right shoulder to left hip and one coiled a few times over his right arm. He has thick work gloves faded of use and sometimes brings a black cowl to cover it all. The belts around his torso have a multitude of pockets on their shown side and the cloak is of a thick material. The only part of his appearance that gives away his non human heritage is his right arm. It looks charred black, and is rough and jagged. He walks with a sort of slow and looming gate, though he only chooses to do this as it is easy and calm, he can move quite quick if needed.

Occupation: Million owns a small plot of land used for gardening medicinal herbs, and is often asked to teach young gatherers of what and what not is safe game.

Skills: An astute gardener, handles children well, good gatherer. Surprisingly capable fighter, knows decent survival skills. Wonderful medic.

Powers: "Spirit", like most of his race, has the ability to enter an odd state. Becoming a figure of smokey blue they are able to ride the wind and travel around objects and through small spaces, becoming solid when they start running low on magical energy. This ability is the reason they have been mistaken for ghosts, and how "Spirit' came to be called, "Spirit." While in this state they are still hurt-able, they are still physical beings, just now made of up of small particles.

Inventory: Many dried herbs held in his belt pockets. Farming scythe (held to back using belt). Brown leather bag. Empty book. Quill and bottled ink (He has been running low for a long time now, proper ink is hard to come by)

History: Million's parents found Kado village when they were in their later years. They had retreated from their old home of the cold north in hopes of finding safe respite. They stumbled upon the village when they allied themselves with a drove of elves. Hunting in the forest lead them to the haven and they settled as the others did as well. Unlike humans their race is able to reproduce at any age, and finally having what they thought was a safe place, they gave birth to their second child. They passed away not long after, the mother of sickness, and soon after the father of hunger (he had grown senile in his old age, and was lost when he stumbled away from the village). This left the boy alone, as his would be sister had died back in their homeland.

Being taken in soon by a distant family of elves (ones who had traveled with his parents). He began learning of his current professions, and studied with their like aged children. He lived with them until he was nearly 16, he then took to his own home in the village, and since then has continued his studies of nature. Becoming the town herbalist when the previous one had passed away of age.

Point of Interest:
Glowbleak cave:
A low and black cave of stone and moss, forming a gaping maw with trees jutting from it's top, and roots jutting from its ceiling. It has a series of slants, some steep and some shallow. If traversed deep enough it leads to a wealth of luminescent fungi and grasses, as well as pools of spring water. It has quite a few rare specimen in it and is often considered dangerous as many have been known to be poisonous. It's entrance is located southwest of the town nearly half an hour walk away. It is damp and it's walls are often jagged. A somewhat restricted area few ever bother to deal with. It is marked with six tall and mossy stone near it's entrance, creating sorts of columns that shape a path to it. It has an odd sickly sweet smell and it's opening is likened to a terrible set of earthy jaws. There are few low hanging passages in it that thus far lead to nowhere of interest. It is not known just how deep it actually is, or how far it's tunnels actually reach.

Actually, Guy. I was going to ask if you wanted to have your character in Ru-Ru's class or something. As his powers are sort of similar to what yours is learning, it would kind of make sense.

Yea, people pretty much know each other. The population of 500 includes the children and the elderly. And even if a character is intentionally isolated, there are so few of those people that they would be known for being isolated, like the "weirdo brewers" we have in the works.

Hope she is up to snuff...her history may be considered lacking but there isn't much meant to be there.

Name: Hace (Hah-Chey) P. Dolcie (Doll-Chee-ay)

"Oh, so sorry..."

Age: 15

Gender: Female.

Race: Half fairy, half elf.

Appearance: Hace is a petite creature, her figure is slender and she is short in stature, coming to 5'2 on her tip-toes. She is pale skinned and often burns due to the sun, She has a round face with large pinkish eyes, topped by long lashes. A small round nose and dimples give character to her features. Her face is framed by her spilled silver hair, a white and rounded bob of straight threads. She has the long pointed ears of an elf, with small rounded outcroppings beside their lobes to match her fairy side. Her legs make up for a good potion of her height and her torso would be considered "small", she is physically weak and seems to radiate "fragile". Her chest is lacking and she couldn't be describes as "curvy". She is usually dressed in warm and thick linen of soft colours. Her favorite brown boots are almost always on her feet and a worn red shoal is usually resting on her shoulders. It is somewhat tattered and obviously kept for sentiment more than function. She treads with some sense of nervousness, always being cautious of not stepping any boundaries she not. She has small and thin wings from her mother, insect like things that are thin and reflect rainbows when catching light. A noticable membrane spreading about it like roots and making neat rounded patterns. They are often flat against her back.

Occupation: Hace is finishing her schooling and is preparing to take up either hunting or deciphering the old books. She is only considering hunting as it was what her father does. She has always found the study of the towns past a noble and worthy cause.

Skills: Hace is an excellent reader, when she is comfortable enough and gathered enough courage, she tells a wonderful story. She is decent at mathematics and magic. Her knowledge of the town morals is commendable.

Powers: Hace uses her heritage to advantage, and harnesses the flimsy bug like wings she has for limited flight. She must magically fortify her wings, as she is not a full fairy and thus they are quite small and weak. Other than this she can cast quite a few basic spells, such as "glow", though it is nothing substantial.

Inventory: A large book bag, a glass bottle (used for collecting interesting things) and a silver coin. It was passed down to her from her ancestors.

History: Hace and her father are a relatively new addition to the town, coming nearly a decade ago. They had traveled from the east after their town had fallen apart due to internal conflict. They found a house and her father easily fit into town as a new hunter. Hace has spent most of her life in the town and considers it home. Her mother had passed away giving birth to her, her father is the elven side of her heritage. Little is said about what caused their original town to break apart, but a low food supply and poorly kept patrol seems to be to blame. Her father was unrelated to the problem.

Point of Interest:
Deathfield:
An oddly named field of flowers not far behind the school. It is surrounded by foliage and isn't all too easily accessible. It holds flowers known as "death bells" that only bud at night. They collect sun in the day, and bloom once darkness falls, letting of light particles and showing a fantastic glow. The field is often empty and mostly children venture to it. It is a somewhat uncomfortable place due to it's unkempt grasses. It has a small divot in it that has been cause of a few scraped knees. Teachers often warn to be careful when treading the field and it has been argued in the past whether children should be allowed there at all.

Powers: Alexander has uncanny powers of healing with adverse affects on the undead that don't appear to be arcane in nature. They can cure most nonlethal diseases and can heal anything short of a missing limb with enough time. Using the same type of energy, Alexander can create barriers that can block most attacks, but are fragile in that they break upon impact. In addition to this, Alexander can cast magic which causes those effect to gain minor boosts in strength and speed as well as confidence and bravery, however, these powers do not work unless the individual was healed using Alexander's power. Alexander can also utilize a weak form of this magic to illuminate otherwise dark places.

Inventory: Alexander wields an apparently magic sword named "Temperance". Upon contact with any blood with high enough traces of magic, usually wizards or magical beasts, the blade glows white for fifteen minutes. While glowing, if the sword cuts into something, it will force itself to cleave through with great fervency, capable of slashing through solid steel. However, if the blade cuts into something on accident, Alexander has little control of the blade; in this case, if the blade cuts into for instance, the dirt, it will try to cut all the way through the ground until the time is up effectively anchoring Alexander to the ground, Alexander only capable of trying to pull it out or hoping to pierce through something else to turn the blade's attention to that. Alexander's own blood does not fulfill the minimum need to activate the blade's magic. Alexander also carries a parrying dagger that, while is hard and kept sharp, is completely non-magical in nature. He also wears a suit of armor, which he both cherishes and polishes regularly. It is also non-magical. Should he ever remove his suit of armor, one might notice a rather expensive looking wedding ring on either finger, made of solid gold with diamonds lining its circumference.

History: Alexander was born in a far off city. A once sprawling metropolis, it was the only place Alexander ever knew. It was there where he grew up, learned everything he knew, worked, met his first love, and had children. The city had its own defense system outside threats, training its citizens, and having it so that the men must serve a year defending the city in order to gain full citizenship. One day, Alexander's city was razed not from the outside, but taken down from the inside by foreigners who wanted to implement their own style of thinking.

Being one of few safe havens from the wrathful gods, the city would often get refugees whose homes have been taken from them. These refugees took advantage of their position, not having to fight for the city and thrived within the metropolis, eventually outnumbering the city's natives. The immigrants killed Alexander's family in a twisted sense of 'honor'. Alexander was a trained soldier as required by the city, but his own honor system did not allow him to kill the foreigners. Alexander instead escaped and was soon greeted with monsters that tried to eat him.

Struggling to survive, Alexander questioned the meaning of his life and the benignity of the gods. Cornered, he gave up. But then, a voice cried out from inside of him. His inner light shined bright, giving Alexander the strength to fight in the form of a magic sword in place of his old sword as well as bizarre powers to utilize. He fought through literal oceans of monsters before eventually being drawn to the village of Kado.

There, he was found by the Guardians with blood all over his sword and armor. At first, Alexander fought alongside the Guardians. However, as he continued through the village, he grew older and more contempt. He grew old and jaded. Eventually, Alexander decided he'd rather let the younger people fight on his behalf as he drunk alcohol from the traders who went to the village every now and then.

Alexander supported himself by hunting for food. If he needed money, he'd offer to write others poetry or sometimes short stories. If he was granted something valuable enough that didn't have sentimental value, Alexander would attempt to trade up, bartering his way to higher valued belongings which he would later trade for more alcohol. Alexander once took shelter inside the guardian head quarters, however, as he attempted to separate himself from them, Alexander decidedly slept on a hammock strung over a large, tall tree near the village, the branches far apart enough to have a hammock tied between them, a rope ladder allowing Alexander to climb to the hammock, which he would roll up when he went to bed to deter invaders from disturbing him.

Point of Interest: Alexander built a shrine carved into a tree trunk, incenses burning from it with flowers laying aside it. The parts of the shrine sticking out of the trunk are themselves made out of wood and painted red. The inside is also painted. On the shrine is a cross as well as the picture of an apparently young woman presumed to be Alexander's wife. a metal cup filled with ashes is placed in front of the picture, several sticks of incenses sticking out. Every night, regardless of how drunk he is, Alexander will go to the shrine and write a letter, burning it before the shrine and watching as the ash rises to the heavens. He does this regardless if it rains or snows. A flat, rudimentary roof is built over the shrine to keep rain away.

  • History: The citizens of Kado had no idea what to make of Joe when he and his wife, Liliana, first arrived. One day he walked through the town and out the other side without a single word. A few days later they found him again, digging a hole. Though they asked him questions, neither him nor his wife spoke a word, so everyone just let them be. Finally he spoke a week later when he came to town hauling some ore he dug up, looking to trade it for some food. Everyone asked him how he found it, and all he said was "I dug."

    After a while he built a forge and made some tools to make the digging easier. Some of Kado's residents took to digging with Joe, eager to unearth whatever they could to provide for the village. Soon his little hole developed into the Full Moon Quarry. It wasn't long before he spent less time digging and more time repairing the few tools used to dig, as all they could find were small veins here and there. This is what the villagers came to him for now, along with his keen tracking abilities.

    Considered by many to be a Guardian, Joesph is indifferent to the title, and took no vow. But like a Guardian he inserts himself into any conflict he sees, silently seeking an end to the dispute. As he rarely enters the town, most of the time he quells any trouble at the Quarry. But on occasion he has come to town solely for the purpose of helping the other Guardians out.

    Liliana shares her husbands joy in silence, but the similarities end there as he is much more social, if you can call it that. Often she makes trips to the village to help out and shop for both her and him. She doesn’t have a steady job, instead she keeps their humble home clean and cooks meals for the two of them. However she is a gifted basket maker, and from time to time she gets asked to make one. She is also famous for being the only one capable of getting Joesph to crack a smile.

    Point of Interest: Full Moon Quarry
    The Quarry started out as a few holes that Joesph dug himself. Over the years with the help of the village it became a full blown quarry. Though it is not rich in anything particular, it contained more then anyone had found before hand. If nothing else a few artifacts have been found in the quarry, and are being kept at the Library for study. The quarry's name came from an annual event that some of the villagers started up. Once a month a group of them would gather under the full moon and hold a fight club of sorts, testing their skill in the quarry like it was some kind of arena.

    Next to the Quarry is Joesph and Liliana's home, a few simple tied together canopies and their forge. Joesph doesn't let anyone touch the forge beside himself and his wife when she needs to use it as a fire pit. Everyone has offered time and time again to help them build a proper home, but the two of them quietly refuse every time.

    @Descartes: I'll need you to alter a few things to make this character mesh with the setting a bit better. As I told Jerkchicken, civil disputes don't make sense in this setting since everybody has much larger problems to worry about than differing ideologies. Even in a sprawling metropolis, people would still be struggling just to keep the place standing against the wrath of the gods. Now, if you wanted to connect it to the gods, making the foreigners people who want to try submitting to appease their wrath, then this might work better. Or, perhaps they are outright under the influence of the gods and are carrying out their destructive work. The divine light wiping out the monsters wouldn't happen in this world. I have plans for the gods, so right now there can be no divine intervention. How does he maintain his drunken behavior, or even his existence in the village for that matter? The village has a bartering economy. He offers no goods or services, yet he is somehow obtaining what I called a scarce luxury. Trader visits would be very rare, and they wouldn't be lugging around mass quantities of alcohol on the rare occasions that they do visit. Perhaps he could use his healing skills to be a doctor. And, there's two more minor things. I'm going to ask you to nerf your sword a bit. Either limit the substances it can cut through, or reduce the time it glows for to something around a 5-minute range. 30 minutes is a long time for unlimited cutting power. Lastly, just put a bit more description into the shrine.

    I am annoyed by your rather vague and very background god thing that really shits over my creativity and attempts to make a personal story and connection for my character and his history. Especially with your claims that the rp will be focused on the village meaning that this rather important event has no real bearing outside of the justification on the formation of the community.

    You want character focused drama and interaction centered on a small scale (Read: the village)? That's cool and perfectly acceptable but shove your god war thing into margins as some distant past event and let us construct more personal back stories that lets us actually become invested in meaningful way than this generic refugee thing. Can't let go of this god war thing going? Fine too but be honest about it and open up the world beyond the village and not have it hanging over teasing us with a look but don't touch attitude.

    Alright, I justified the existence of the city by giving it a defense system against the gods. I also made it so that the immigrants arrived thanks to the gods. As for the divine light, I didn't explicitly state it as being divine. I modified it slightly to sound more like simply the event where Alexander discovers his powers.

    I didn't want to have Alexander be a doctor because I think that would devalue his power to a mere commodity. In this case, I played up his writing ability so that he wrote for a living, trading stories and poetry in exchange for food and other luxuries. I also gave Alexander a place to stay. If the two drunken masters get accepted, I'll say Alexander gets his beer from them. This way, we can establish a connection between three characters.

    Oh, and more detail was added to the shrine.
