It has been three months since the Equalist attack on Republic City and it's subsequent take over by Amon's forces and then their failure after the unmasking of their leader and his lies. The Equalists for all intents and purposes are fractured and or gone vanishing back into everyday life. Avatar Korra is hailed as a hero as is the majority of the Republic City Defense Force and the United Alliance's armies. With Republic City recovering from the destruction and still suffering from crime which has risen since the reinstatement of the police and the riots by still loyal Equalists. However some miles away from Republic City lies the trading route city similar to Republic City but without a reputable water source it heavily depends on it's airfields which allow the airships to bring in supplies by transport. There is a small river running through the city but the water is not sufficient for anyone but fisherman who barely make a meager earnings. This city is named Wu Xing (Earth in more native tongues) is home to not only a metal bender academy but is also a gambling capital and has well known Pro-Bending Tournaments hosted almost all year every month. However with that being said there are four gangs that have been unleashed upon the city making live miserable for the locals and travelers alike though they would protest that they do all that much to harm the city. The first of which being the Red Cat Gators, The Brown Mole Bears, The Blue Flames, and The Lightning Prodigals all of which are sly and very business savvy. However there's been rumors going about lately, unsettling ones at that, that say another gang is forming under the head of a mysterious man.

Alright FAQ Time:
1. Air Bending will be allowed but pro-benders don't have an air slot so that being said air bending will not be allowed with a pro bending background. Also you must not be very well known. The most likely scenario being that you came from a rather unknown area and are rather new to bending or have kept it rather secret.
Once you start bending in the city you may very well be noticed but the canon cast will be kept out by: "Being busy with Equalists rebels" unless requested to make an appearance in which case they may come in late roleplay to see you.

2. Blood Bending, 'Duel' Bending, Lava Bending, and any advanced form of bending is off the table unless it's metal bending/Sand Bending which has become common.

3. I'm aiming for a group that is from their teens to early mid twenties. Adult characters are HEAVILY discouraged due to the nature of the roleplay.

4. The canon cast will not be involved in this roleplay. The whole purpose of this being semi-canon is to get rid of any questions about the avatar and or who the avatar is at the moment. Canon cast shall not be allowed at all.

5. This will be a little darker in the sense of a Dark Knight (Batman) sense where there will be violence and possibly death but not on a scale I hope to keep this true to the series and prevent character deaths if possible.

6. Non benders are allowed as long as they're not equalists themselves. They may have been trained by them but no actually involved themselves due to plot reasons. You also may be a chi-blocker or whatever be it and no be at all affiliated with the equalists past or present.

I'll hand over my interest. Just a quick question, how far off is the Harmonic Convergence, or rather does book two not happen in this semi-cannon?

Seems interesting. Though a city called earth in what used to be earth kingdom land is a little odd.

It's meant to be an acronym for it being strong. Anyone else? I want one or two more people.

Also while it may seem a bit slow at first it really get's interesting mid to late game.

Well there can be more than one fire bender. Unless someone else is interested my guy is going to be a earth bending member of a pro-bending crew with two members in it who will be NPC's unless asked otherwise.

I could be apart of the team if you want. Also what post expectations are you going to hold? Note: I make female characters more often then male. I just find it funner.

I would prefer not but if you really want to I'll work you into it. Post expectation are the typical paragraph per post.

Also while out of character for me the inner grammar nazi must inform you that it is I just find it more fun.

I know funner isn't a word actually. It's just I don't get why it isn't when so many annoying slang words have been made into words alongside literally able to mean figuratively.
Edit: Also I don't need to be in the team whatsoever. I was just curious.

Alright my recommendation for a water bending user is this: Water Benders are for either swift attack, support (Freezing enemies and the like), or healers. I recommend going with one of those.

Alright bro but you'd need to explain how you got your metal bending skills be you the kid of a metal bender or a cadet in the academy or whatever be it. I'll get up a OOC tomorrow. So that leaves our base crew as this

Two Earth Benders - One metal - One purist
Two Water Benders
Two Fire Benders

For anyone who wants to know why I am saying we have double the numbers in this IC it's counting my guy's NPC pro-bending partners.

My guy's the versatile all rounder earth bender not really specializing in anything but he has a lot of tricks. Meaning he's no Toph but he's still a force to be reckoned with.
My Fire Bender NPC is a power fighter fire bender who goes out with full force
My Water Bender is a Support Style Water Bender.

The last two won't get involved as much if I can help it but we'll see what happens. I have the middle and end game planned but the early game is still in the works.

My thoughts exactly. Primarily he/she is going to be a supporter, but also a mix of the three. Think of it as bard-esque. I'm feeling street rat trickster of sorts, so they would have a wide variety of skills needed to survive the mean streets alone. Definitely no where near the combat skill of a pro-bender.

Well you'd have to take out the healer part because they're rather rare as far as I'm aware. However a mix of support and some minor attack (you'd be missing out on Ice attacks since you have no official education in water bending.

Here's the wiki link for all the info
http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Waterbending

If I may offer a different suggestion for your character that would explain why he can water bend at a decent level and not have ice powers.
Have him come from one of the swamp water bending tribes and he came to the city to make a new life for himself be it he failed or not. Just try to give him or her a good spirit because I plan on having our characters meet via a robbery.

Edit: Don't forget while there are a few rivers and lakes through the city they are small so having small water pouches and the like is a must in this situation.

When I said healer, I meant in a simple first aid sense of numbing the pain rather then curing it. Basically using the water as an icy-hot patch. Don't worry, I can play it without abusing it.

If swamp is more appropriate for the setting I can work with that. However I think my character is going to need a little ice know how, since there isn't much else they can do in the way of anything due to the lack of mediocre bodies of water. Giving me only a water skin worth of water to work with is a little unfair when you put me up against a fire or earthbender. Their back story would involve training of course, prior to leaving the swamp, even the residents of Foggy Swamp displayed some understanding of ice.

Real quick what do you mean by good spirit? Do you mean good nature or strong willed?

No you literally can't use water to heal people unless you are born naturally with that skill. Or at least that's how I interpret the Unique part of that first sentence. It says so directly in the wiki.
Waterbenders can sometimes use a unique sub-skill: the ability to heal injuries by redirecting energy paths, or chi, throughout the body, using water as a catalyst. Waterbenders can use their abilities to heal by surrounding a sick or injured person with water, which glows during the process.[4] When infused with spiritual knowledge, a variation of this technique can be used to calm angry spirits, as demonstrated by Unalaq.[49] The use of healing was generally taught to female waterbenders of the Northern Water Tribe, who were not allowed to study combative forms of waterbending prior to the end of the Hundred Year War.[16] Katara is known to be the best healer in the world. With the help of Spirit Oasis water, she was able to heal Aang and resurrect him.

Ice is for advanced users of water bending. Katarra only learned it I believe after going to the northern water tribe. True the said can be said of lightning but Ice bending seems like some that would only be useful in the combat area rather than the industrial industry unless it's for cooling areas. Even then that would be just cooling the water in the air not forming ice. Swamp Tribe members have only shown this once or twice in the series from what I read if you insist on being able to use ice I will only allow it if it's very minor and difficult to use. On the other hand plant bending is opened up by having experience in a swamp assuming you can find wet enough objects to use.

Well the swamp tribes would be more likely to become vagrants than northern or southern water tribe members in my own opinion. I didn't say you could not have multiple skins and it's not like it's supposed to be fair.. This city's name is literally earth it's very name should suggest water benders would be at a major disadvantage here. The sewer system may be able to give some water but it will be hard to retrieve and or piping inside buildings could be a possible source of water but again it'd be pretty hard to retrieve without major skill in water bending.

Vance, I'd like to change my vote and become a non-bender. I have a character in mind that I'd like to use from it, although he will have connections to minor characters from the original series (the musical nomads that traveled through the earth kingdom.)
