The city of Naveria considered one of the more prosperous cities in the area and a must stop for any tourist passing through, it's considered one of the oldest cities in the world though that's only in the top ten. Naveria prospertity over time has led to additions being added to the city causing it to have four 'sections' in a sense.
The first section is the newest part of the city finished only months ago, it's considered New Naveria, a place filled with all kinds of stores, restaurants, hotels etc. essentially if anyone needs anything New Naveria is the place to get it. There's a fountain in the center of Naveria with benches surrounding it that people hang out at either before or after shopping, most large name stores reside in New Naveria so it can be a tad expensive for some, it resides in the northern part of the city.
On the eastern half of the city is what is considered the residential district, a small suburb full of houses and where a majority of the schools reside. The residential district was one of the newer areas of Naveria before New Naveria come along and it shows when anyone walks through it.
In the southern part of the city is the oldest part of the city thus it's designated name Old Naveria, to any that know the history of Naveria this was the first part of the city every built, old factories, small simple shops and a few run down houses remain in this part of the city, Old Naveria is filled with the history of Naveria for anyone with the curiosity. Most people on a limited budget reside in Old Naveria since it's affordable, with New Naveria opening up the older part of the city has lost a few residents but it is one of the most interesting parts of the city still.
Finally there's the western half of the city which is the only area where any kind of real greenery resides, parks and Naveria's lake occupy the west side, a small forest is also in the area but with a highway behind it what little nature remains is cut off.
These are the four main areas of Naveria and though there isn't a technical center to the city, the library is the closest place to one as it lingers the closest to what could be considered the middle point between everything, few people visit it nowadays with bookstores in New Naveria but it still remains a comfortable place for those who take the time to journey there, within this city lies the lives of millions of people enjoying a simple life, some who want very little and others with large aspirations, each one occupying their time to the best of their ability.

Aria set her bags down and took a seat next to them on a bench near the fountain, she had come to New Naveria to buy a few things she couldn't find in Old Naveria, and sitting here now she remembered how much she hated this place. The entire area was covered with people, and stores surrounded her on all sides, she glanced over at a tv store showing a few news reports before her attention moved up to a large skyscraper between a shoe and clothing store with a huge tv screen on it. The screen could be seen from anywhere in New Naveria so they took that opportunity to play advertisements, some for the stores currently around her.
Aria rubbed the side of her head as she looked at the bags seated next to her, she wanted to head back to her apartment in Old Naveria but she had walked here and wasn't in the mood to head back quite yet, she had considered taking the bus but didn't realize there wasn't money in her wallet until she got to the store.
It was a nice day today but it being summer brought a bit of irritation to her day, kids were running around the area and a majority of them weren't exactly quiet, adding that to the conversations going on around her Aria was reminded why she avoided the newer side of the city.

If it was one thing he hated, it was sunny days after a night of booze. With a groan Carson got out of bed and closed the blinds, it wouldn't put him back to sleep but it would ease his headache. Stumbling over to the bathroom, Carson took a long look in the mirror. His hair was raggedy, bags under his eyes, several days of scruff.... How could you let yourself get this bad Carson? he said to himself. Taking a big sigh Carson stripped down and stepped into the shower, letting the lukewarm water run down his body as he leaned against the wall. After awhile he got to scrubbing all the stink and dirt away, feeling somewhat cleansed by the act. Finished with his shower, Carson took out a razor and a hair clipper he didn't know he had, and begun the task of grooming himself.

After about thirty minutes of grooming, Carson began looking a little like his old self. Satisfied with his looks, Carson put some toothpaste on the toothbrush and began to brush his teeth, getting the smell of alcohol and vomit out of his mouth. Afterwards, Carson felt like a million bucks. Maybe John had decided that Carson had beat himself enough, or maybe Carson was tired of looking at the same ragged face every morning. Either way it was time for a change, digging in his fridge for anything edible and finding nothing Carson decided that he could use a walk. It had been forever since he had been at that diner at New Naveria. Putting on a t-shirt, some cargo pants, his old military boots, and those ray bans from boot camp Carson went out the door and made his way to New Naveria.

A loud deep buzzing sound filled the streets of Old Naveria as Spencer's ancient and run down moto trundled down the streets puffing fumes and the smell of diesel oil out over the run down areas he passed. It was the morning as his little bike was among the first vehicles out on the road bar some commuters. He didn't start work until the afternoon and with no school or college the day was his, he might have tried to do something about the shop, come up with some way to convert it or find someone to buy it, not that many would be interested in an old runs down shop in the old part of the city, might have done something useful if he weren't in his current state. A rut would be the term most would use, for the past few weeks he'd stuck to the same pattern of get up, get dressed, go and get some breakfast, wander the streets aimlessly, get lunch, go and work and then sleep. Today he was determined to change it, today he had got up, got dressed, had breakfast but now he was heading somewhere with purpose, a coffee shop in the new part of the city. Spencer's bike pulled up alongside the shop, he climbed off and set his helmet down on the back before heading inside.

A window seat, a well worn Stephen King novel and a cup of tea, relaxation, he was out of his rut and Spencer felt somewhat happy. Glancing out the window the man spied a woman about the same age as himself, alone and sitting by the fountain in the park. He sipped his tea a little and set the book down, keeping his thumb in between the pages to keep his place. For a little while he just sat staring at her with a slight smile on his, she'd caught his eye for some reason and for the briefest of moments he considered going outside and talking to her but then he swiftly shook his head and realised she'd just shoot him down and call him a freak. He sighed and took another sip, still looking out at her.

The small laptop began to whirr softly as Andrew just pressed the power button. He comtinued to brush his teeth as his computer started up. Having no appointments scheduled and no classes, Andrew had decided to stay in his Old Naveria apartment. It was worn, but homely, and beared marks of a time of smoke and steel, back when Naveria was founded. It was cheap too, and in one of the better parts of the quadrant. He spat out the excess foam and washed his face, and walked back to the table where his laptop sat waiting, ready to be used. He grabbed it and sat on the couch, the keyboard clicking as he ran through his daily technological mantra. By the time he finished, it was almost lunch. He got up from the couch and checked the refrigerator and cabinet, both of which had nothing. He sighed. I guess I will have to go outside today, he thought to himself. Andrew slipped his shoes on and grabbed his keys and wallet, and walked out into the street, making sure to close the door behind him, setting off at a moderate pace.

Aria stood up from her seat deciding to go ahead and start heading home, as annoying as the walk was going to be lingering in New Naveria wasn’t much better. The sooner she got home the sooner she could relax as well, payday was today and by some miracle she had the day off tomorrow so she was going to enjoy tonight, ordering out wasn’t a bad idea actually.
A chill ran up Aria’s spine as she started to leave and she stopped and looked around, she wasn’t sure where that came from but she didn’t want to linger to find out, it already felt like she was being watched.
However as she started to walk away she froze as the entire area went silent, not the conversations but the blaring advertisements going on all around them, the TV’s, radios, everything electronic just shut off and people noticed. Aria looked at the television store and noticed that the screens had gone completely red, turning her attention to the large TV on the skyscraper she noticed it had gone red as well.
After a moment of silence the black silhouette of a man walked onto the screen, looking over to the television store he showed up on all of them too.
“Hello everyone!”
Aria’s attention shot back towards the large TV as the silhouette spoke holding up a hand, his voice didn’t seem like it was just coming from the TV, she could hear it from all around her. The man’s voice was being broadcast throughout the city, through what she wasn’t sure but it was extremely loud and hard to miss the light tone of voice his person had, she could almost hear his happiness through voice alone.

“It’s so nice to meet you,” the man continued giving a two finger salute. “I’ve wanted to speak to you all for what seems like ages, my name is….uh….oh man I forgot my evil alias hold on a second.”
The man knelt down and started digging through stuff off the screen, Aria could hear the clatter and clank of things as he tossed them aside, confusion was the closest thing Aria could identify in the mixture of emotions flowing through her as she watched the screen.
The man stood up holding what seemed to be a notebook and flipping through it.
“Damn it’s not in here either, ah I can’t remember it,” he said shrugging and tossing the notebook over his shoulder. “It was a really good one too; just call me Mr. Descent then that works.”
Aria felt an immense hatred for this man already but she continued to watch unable to deny that her chest felt heavy, something about this whole thing wasn’t good and what few police were around were dumbstruck as they watched the screen some trying to talk on their radios with little luck.
Aria couldn’t see Mr. Descent face but for some reason she could see a toothy grin showing his pearly whites formed on his shadowed face as he spoke.
“I’m sure you all realize I’ve taken over your electronics, I’ve hijacked your airwaves and taken over your TV’s, radios, internet all of it! So if you were watching a romantic comedy or having some ‘personal time’ I’m afraid you’ll have to look at my handsome mug for a second. I’m sure if you check your phones, tablets and all that I’m on there too.”
Aria looked over at a woman who pulled out her phone, just as he said Mr. Descent’s face was on her screen behind the same red background, she could even hear him through the phone.
The woman tried to dial a number but the phone didn’t seem to be responding.
“Anyway I’ve gone through so much trouble to take over your media and your government is trying really hard to get it back so let me go ahead and give you the message I had for you.”
Mr. Descent cleared his throat for a moment before wagging a finger at the screen.
“All of you are boring.”
Aria eyes narrowed at the screen as he delivered his message, she could hear murmurs from the crowd and the people inside their stores and probably their homes looked at each other in slight confusion.
“I mean it all of you are boring, I’ve watched you guys daily and it’s hurts to see, your lives are so mundane, repetitious, unappealing. I mean come on you guys can’t be happy with all of this, The lower class scraping by from paycheck to paycheck, watching their rich boss drive up in one of his three mustangs while they have a raggedy old car they still have payments on, the middle class just trying to stay afloat and not sink into poverty, never truly able to reach the height of the rich, and the high class having to deal with all the lower class angry cause they don’t got the stacks, you earned your money why can’t you enjoy it without being hated? This is a generalization of course but our society is divided into classes and everyone has just…accepted it! Isn’t that just awful! Look let me just ask you a question, and take a moment to think about it when I ask, I’ll even wait.”

Mr. Descent stopped for a moment taking a few deep breaths and Aria was a little worried at what he was going to say next with everything he was going on about.
“Haven’t you ever considered your life more important thing someone else’s? It’s a simple question nothing to extreme, haven’t you ever thought ‘I deserve that’ or ‘I hope that person has a bad day’ or on some occasions ‘I hope they die’. We’ve all thought that at least once someone cut you in line, their kid keeps crying next to you, hundreds of things could have happened, really just take a second to consider it, I’ll wait.”
Aria stared at the screen dumbfounded at Mr. Descents words, going off the voices around her other people were just as confused. She didn’t want too but if she thought about it he wasn’t completely wrong the thought has crossed her mind, but it wasn’t something she would openly admit and generally it was in passing most of the time, the lives of others didn’t concern hers she had enough in her own.
She could see others were actually thinking about the answer to Mr. Descent’s question, but no one openly said anything, though she wasn’t sure if he could even hear them.
“I can hear you by the way, side note,” Mr. Descent said pulling out a small book and opening it. “So you can shout your answer if you want, go ahead I’ll wait a sec for you.”

Spencer continued to stare at the woman for a while before she began to look around, he quickly hid his face behind his book and was sure he'd been spotted...But she wasn't looking at him. He followed her gaze up to the television and frowned, a little confused. Was it some sort of new viral add? After a little while he realised it was a video to coincide with the message being played on the cafe's radio, quite an impressive marketing stunt he thought to himself, chuckling a little at the part about an "evil alias" a new spy comedy? Then he started listening.

This was a hacker, one of the best he'd ever heard but a very stereotypical one. Some rich kid with too much time and too much of his parents's money and not enough love or attention, locked away in a basement somewhere trying to get people to notice him with some lame and pointless idea. Or was he an anarchist? 'Burn the city, collapse the government, give movies and music for free.' Either way Spencer didn't much care for this Mr Decent.

He simply shook his head as he listened to the ramblings, the world was unfair and that was the way of things, no way to change it. And sure there were people he didn't get along with, maybe a few times he'd thought about someone dropping dead after they annoyed him but he didn't mean it...He couldn't believe that he did actually agreed with some of it though, he was bored and sick of doing the same thing everyday, with a shrug he decided to speak, he took his old mobile phone out and spoke into it. "So what are you going to do about it?" He asked simply, assuming that the man would hear him.

Moments after Andrew crossed into new Navieria, the television screens before him ceased their chatter of news and miscellaneous information. He stopped walking and looked all around him. Every single TV now had a red background, with the black silhouette of a man in the foreground. Andrew checked his phone and noticed it had the same thing as all the other screens around him. The man started to speak, his voice ringing throughout the city from every possible speaker. Andrew listened with held breath as the man introduced himself, explained what he was doing, and as the man explained what was wrong with the world. Andrew's impression of Mr. Descent was partly of awe at his hacking skills, and distaste, as he seemed like a very misguided person. It was true that there are many things that can and need to be fixed, Andrew thought. But it would take much more work than any possible solution could ever warrant. So things just stayed that was.

However, Mr. Descent had a point.
“Haven’t you ever considered your life more important thing someone else’s? It’s a simple question nothing to extreme, haven’t you ever thought ‘I deserve that’ or ‘I hope that person has a bad day’ or on some occasions ‘I hope they die’. We’ve all thought that at least once someone cut you in line, their kid keeps crying next to you, hundreds of things could have happened, really just take a second to consider it, I’ll wait.” The man on the screen pulled out a notebook.
“I can hear you by the way, side note,” he said, opening the book. “So you can shout your answer if you want, go ahead I’ll wait a sec for you.”

Andrew did think about it. It was true, he usually put himself before others when it came to some things. He pulled out his phone.

"Of course. While I'm not an expert or even good at social sciences, thinking about yourself before others may have been inherited from a time where most of us didn't have the luxury of generosity, and it still carries over into today's world."

The murmuring between the people in the plaza continued, even inside the stores and shops people questioned the words Mr. Descent said, and after a few minutes of muttering everyone's attention returned to the screen as they heard a loud obviously fake yawn escape from the mouth of Mr. Descent. He shut his book and looked back at the screen, Aria could feel a chill run up her spine as that toothy grin formed back on the screen. It seemed the time for contemplation was up and unfortunately it seemed that he had more to say. In one grand movement Mr. Descent spread his arms open and a loud laugh came from him echoing throughout the entire city before he spoke once more keeping his arms out.
"I think that's more than enough time," Mr. Descent said before lowering his arms. "
He leaned towards the screen a little and held up one finger as the continued talking, Aria was wondering if he wasn't laying this on a little thick as she watched.
"Now I'm sure we can all agree that we've all felt this way at one time or another, and I'm happy to hear a response from some of you. Perhaps the way we are is inherited from our ancestors, maybe this is how the world is, and also why should we care about it? Thankfully a question was posed in my direction, among others of course but I'm afraid my three sizes are secret," Mr. Descent said this bringing both hands to his face and shaking his head bashfully.
Aria stared at the screen an immense feeling of disgust welling up inside of her as she watched him clear his throat and continue.
"What am I going to do about it?" Mr. Descent said. "A fantastic question and one I'm glad was asked because I have an answer! I'm going to sever what makes us all different, put simply I'm going to make each and everyone one of us equal. Won't matter how much money you have, what your past was, or even your future ambitions. None of that will matter I will make each of us even. Now if you all would be so kind as to look at the sky."

Aria arched a brow at Mr. Descent's words but when he snapped his fingers the blue sky immediately turned red and something seemed to form in it, the sudden change caused her to look up and her eyes widened as a large red pentagram formed in the sky overshadowing the entire city.
"What the hell is..." Aria said unable to finish her thought as she stared at the sight.
The pentagram glowed a bright crimson and two star shaped symbols floated in the center of it, one circling clockwise the other rotating counter-clock wise. There were four red circles in the four corners one of the stars made, a bright glow filled the pentagram and though it couldn't be seen from so far away there were multiple little circles around the rim of the circles where the lines were.
"Don't blink now," Mr. Descent said grinning at everyone.
The pentagram's glow flared and a red light slammed into the entire city covering everyone in it, inside or outside the red light hit every person in the city the hot energy slamming into people's bodies threatening to consume them. Aria fell to her knees as a pain filled her entire being, the screams of the people around her echoing in her ears, people in the stores screamed and fell through their doors gripping their arms. A waiter in the coffee shop dropped a platter and fell to his knees screaming in pain as he held his wrist and the same was for everyone in the shop. People driving their cars crashed into buildings and each other as they were hit with the light, even people in their homes fell to the ground gripping their wrists.
Aria held her arm as a burning sensation filled it, as if it was aflame and threatening to engulf the rest of her. She grit her teeth as she was filled with the feeling of someone carving something into her wrist with a hot knife slowly. A mark started to form on her wrist and slightly up her arm as the burning sensation of being cut continued to barrage her forcing her attention on it. The same thing was happening to everyone else, the same mark was being put on their rights arms in the same spot and it seemed it was just as painful for most.
Finally the light subsided and the pentagram vanished completely the sky returning to it's normal blue, Aria fell to her knees as the pain subsided her breath heavy as she released her arm. For some reason it felt like something was moving inside her body, like a stream was flowing through her, it kind of felt like the sun's warmth but internally and constantly in motion.
She looked at her arm to see a mark running from her wrist to a little below her forearm. The mark was the crossing of two lines three times while moving downwards before pointing at the end like an arrow, near the top the lines were adjacent but there were lines curving off the top barely touching the lines, they looked kind of like wings, since their were four lines it looked like four wings two on each side. At the top of the marking was a symbol she didn't recognize, it looked like an eye but there was an oval going through it, she wasn't sure what exactly it was.

"Hahahahahahaah! That was so good you guys should have heard yourselves! Hahahahaha! Ah your screams were fantastic...that had to be pretty damn painful."
Aria was pulled from the tingling pain in her arm as Mr. Descent continued talking, for a moment she forget he was there. When she raised her head she noticed everyone around her had the same marks and they were holding their arms, some people were passed out on the ground, more than likely from the pain.
"Ah anyway I'm sure you're probably wondering what that was, well before I explain all that and what that thing on you is, I want you to try something. You should feel a warmth spreading through your body right now, like a really comforting heat or something focus that warmth into your hand, don't worry it'll come naturally too you trust me on this."
Mr. Descent the palm of his hand to the screen and pointed to it before motioning his entire hand, lowering it afterwards.
"You should summon...well let's call it magic since most of you should recognize that word from your books and movies. I know it's hard to believe but seeing is believing give it a shot, oh be careful though, just cause you can summon it doesn't mean you can control it."
Aria looked at the palm of her hand, her head was still spinning on everything that was going on but she found herself listening to Mr. Descent's advice and sure enough when she focused that warmth a purple glow surrounded her hand, she flinched and immediately shook her hand dismissing it.
She stared at her hand in shock and taking a deep breath she focused the warmth again only to have it happen again.
Aria looked around at the other people and they were doing the exact same thing, just as he said summoning it was easy enough and Mr. Descent was patiently waiting for everyone to get used to the idea that they had magic, much less that it existed.
"You'll want to hear what I have to say next but go ahead and get a feel for it, if I didn't have your attention I have it now right. Not that you can ignore me I'm on every channel, really though you;ll really like this next part, I mean I've already brought some spice to your boring lives right?"

Carson was enjoying his day as he walked down the sidewalk to his favorite diner. The sun was out, the sky was blue, and everything was quiet. That is until everything went batshit insane. In a moment the sky turned red as a... fucking pentagram glowed in the sky over New Navaria? Then the energy came, it knocked Carson on his ass and his arm burned like hell. But it wasn't the worst feeling he had felt. As he held his arm, Carson marveled at the symbol that was being carved into his skin. His wonder blocking out much of the pain. After it was done, Carson just stared at his hand dumbstruck.

After a moment of awe, the pain came back full force and he had to suppress it with a hiss of pain. Standing up, Carson decided that maybe today wasn't the day to turn your life around. Taking several steps back, he began to head home as he studied his new found scar/tattoo. It still hurt like hell but that was at the back of his mind as a warmth spread through his body and a nasty looking energy arked out of his palm. Jumping a bit, Carson said "Jesus Christ!" as he lost his footing yet a gain as he stepped on a soup can and fell on his ass. Carson stared dumbfounded at what had just happened.

Focusing on the warmth yet again, Carson mouthed a Holy shit as the energy sparked out of his palm yet again. It was an excited ball of red light with bright red electricity racing around it, occasionally throwing out a spark or two. Standing up, Carson made his way back to his apartment while watching the energy sit in his hand. Passing a radio, Carson idly heard something about "-Spice to your boring lives right?" before he continued on, not interested in whatever commercial that was on.

Spencer's eyes widened a little as his question was repeated by Mr Decent, he really could hear them and respond to them, this was not an ordinary hacker, this wasn't even a master hacker...This was something completely new, and it was scary. Spencer's fear turned into sheer terror as the world became covered in a hellish red, his mind raced to come up with an explanation, it was like those big stage lights right? Or a group of stunt planes? He knew neither of these were correct and after a short while a sharp pain shot through his body and he was hit by the realisation that this was witchcraft or some sort of satanic power, evil in it's purist form. As he fell onto the floor from his chair he couldn't help but think back to the few times he had attended church in his life, at school and with his uncle and once on his own before his uncle passed away. He'd found parts of it comforting, but never had he thought that demons and magic were real and yet here he was, lying on the floor beneath a red pentagram in the sky with an unexplainable pain burning away his insides.

A gasp escaped Spencer's mouth as the pain subsided, he shook his head slowly clearing his mind of old memories and deciding to focus on his current situation. He staggered to his feet and looked around, he wasn't paying attention to the voice anymore though he could feel a strange presence within him. Suddenly his ears picked up one word. 'Magic.' He watched as the magical aura surrounded his hand, swallowing nervously he focused the energy almost instinctively into a ball then looked to the café's radio. Decent still had the nerve to keep talking after everything he'd already done, feeling a surge of anger he thrust his hand forward and launched the magic at the radio, it was blown to pieces and he stepped back with a gasp not believing what he had done. A woman screamed at the display and Spencer turned to run out of the door, tripping over his feet and landing face first onto the pavement as he did so. "What the hell is going on?!" He shouted to nobody in particular as he scrambled to his feet and looked to one of the large TV screens in the city.

Moments after Andrew had spoken his answer aloud, Mr. Descent began to speak again. By now, Andrew had pretty much gotten tired of his ramblings or whatever they were supposed to be. Andrew resumed his trip to the grocery store, but before he had taken ten paces, he heard and felt Mr. Descent snapping his fingers. A feeling of dread washed over Andrew as he stared at the crimson sky and the pentagram that had manifested on it. No normal hacker can do that, Andrew thouhght. He barely had time to react as a red light slammed into him, along withheat and pain Andrew had never felt before.

His memories had become hazy after that, but just as he regained his senses, he heard screeching tires and metal rushing towards him. He turned to the source and saw a wrecked car nearly flying towards him. Frozen with fear, he threw his hands in front of him and squeezed his eyes shut. Andrew heard a rustling sound a cacophonous impact of metal on something. He opened his eyes and a glowing blue barrier had appeared in front of him and stopped the car completely. The barrier dissipated and he felt power surround him. Tentatively, he held his palm in front of him to release it, and a shockwave detonated, sending the car and its deceased occupant flying away.

Aria stared up at the screen as Mr. Descent continued laughing to himself holding his sides as he did so, however his laughter eventually subsided and he bent down and picked up what looked like a mic before tapping it with his finger. When he did so the speakers surrounding the entire city seemed to blare even louder than before, Aria flinched as a loud screech came from them. It seemed Mr. Descent really wanted to make sure his message got across, whatever it was. Seeing as the guy just gave them magic using some kind of...black magic she wasn't looking forward to what else he had to say. At first Aria was annoyed but she could feel fear start to creep into her, this wasn't normal, none of it was and she didn't know what to do about it, but the thing on her wrist worried her mostly because she didn't understand what exactly it was.
"Ahem!" Mr. Descent said his voice even louder than before. "Now people tend to fear what they don't understand so let me go ahead and explain what that thing on you does."
Mr. Descent grinned before snapping his fingers, as he did all the screens focused on a young man standing in the crowd, Aria could actually see him where she was standing. It was a young man with short black hair, wearing a blue button up shirt and black shirts, he didn't look that much older than Aria.
"Please turn your attention to the nearest tv screen if you would," Mr. Descent said. "They'll be on, I'm not letting you turn them off after all. Now let me make this very clear that thing on your wrist right now is a curse."
Aria's eyes widened at Mr. Descent's words and she immediately looked back at it, Mr. Descent continued wanting to finish what he was saying.
"If you don't know what that is know that it's generally a bad and harmful thing, there's no way to remove it as by now it's more than likely bonded with your DNA or whatever, I don't know the whole process in short it's part of you now. I hear a few gasps and murmurs out there, you didn't really think you'd get magic for free did you? I'm not that nice of a guy. Now watch this young man because that curse has a timer, and when it counts down...."

Mr. Descent trailed off and snapped his fingers, the moment he did the curse on the boy's hand immediately shrank starting from the bottom and moving up to the eye until it was completely gone. The moment the curse was gone red fire engulfed the boy's entire body and he screamed as his skin and inner organs were burned by the flames which seemed to only grow larger with each passing second, blood poured out of the boy's mouth and eyes and he fell to his knees screaming in agony reaching out for someone to help him before he fell face first to the ground going completely still. The flames flared once more before subsiding, leaving nothing but a charred corpse.
Aria brought her hand to her mouth at the scent much less the sight of the boy, she felt her legs go weak and it took all her willpower not fall to her knees, others were not as composed and some were screaming and scratching at the seal on their wrist frantically.
"Hey! Hey!" Mr. Descent said drawing the attention of the people as he appeared back on the screens. "Calm down! That only happens when the seal vanishes, it burns you from the insides out like that, I mean yeah it's really painful but there's still time on it. You have fifty minutes before that happens....well forty-eight since all that maybe forty-seven. Now before you start screaming again know that there is a way to stop the curse, I wouldn't go cursing you and not give you a way out that's just being a douche. The curse will go into stasis when you are asleep but it won't reset to full, now to restore the time limit all you have do is...."
Mr. Descent's toothy grinned showed on the screen before he spoke giving a small shrug of his shoulders.
"Kill someone."
The words echoed throughout the city for a moment, and people Aria included stared at the screen in complete disbelief, and though Aria desperately wanted this to be a part of this sick man's sense of humor he seemed serious about it.
"Someone else with the seal to be more precise, and you have to do it with your magic or hands, if you use a plain weapon or a gun the seal won't register the kill and then you went and killed for nothing and that'd be a tragedy. Some of you guys can imbue stuff right, make sure to enchant the item before smashing someone's head open with it. Oh wait a minute I forget killing is wrong isn't it? That's okay though let's see how long you consider another person's life over yours. I won't judge you for murder but if you wanna be a goody two shoes then go ahead and be a good Samaritan and die for your neighbor, I mean their life is more important than your own right?! So what does it matter who dies! Ahahahahahahahahaha!"
Aria's fist clenched causing her magic to show itself as hate almost overtook all of her emotions, if not for the smell of the now deceased boy she would have forgotten where she was by now by the amount of disgust she had against this man.
"Oh and just to make it interesting I'm going to lower your time limit...aaaaand you know have five minutes to live. I'll be watching have fun everyone!"
With that Mr. Descent's broadcast ended and the televisions returned to normal, however all of them were off the air which was understandable considering the circumstances. Aria looked at her wrist only to see the eye staring back at her, true to his words everyone in this city now had five minutes to live.

Aria's eyes scanned the people around her, everyone was looking at one another the words of Mr. Descent playing in their heads as they eyed each other. The hesitation was clear in a majority of their eyes and they only stared at each other in silence, Aria swallowed as she continued to look at the people around her. The only way to live was to kill someone else, and time was slowly ticking down the city almost completely silent as people contemplated murder among one another. The police couldn't help them they had seals like anyone else, what goodwill existed was almost nonexistent as they watched each other
It was time to make a decision, she either acted first or they did, even knowing this Aria couldn't help but watch she may not like these people but to kill someone wasn't right, but she didn't want to die either.

A middle aged man in a suit eyed Spencer on his right side, his hand was clenched with a black glow coming from it, his eyes were locked on him and he seemed to be hesitating at whatever he intended on doing which should be clear seeing as his eyes went to the seal on his wrist and back to Spencer, a wedding ring rested on the suited man's hand and there was a good chance his mind was going to his family as he stared at Spencer but he didn't move, he just stared the energy surrounding his hand flaring every few seconds.

A young woman followed Carson fire circling around her right arm, she wasn't sure if he had seen her but she kept a steady pace her eyes narrowed at him. Her hand twitched every few moments as she glared at him, she could see herself setting him aflame, watching his body fall to the ground but she found herself hesitating at the thought of it. She closed her hand into a fist continuing to watch him in silence, though it was unsure how long she intended on watching.
"...I can't die," the woman muttered.

A young boy walked off the side walk and stood in front of Andrew, he flexed his hands chains coming out of his skin as he eyed the man in front of him his eyebrows narrowing into a glare. His eyes went to Andrew's hand, his seal was the same as his on the five minute mark, that was enough confirmation for the boy that it was okay to kill this person, however he didn't attack he just stared at him in silence. Much as he wanted to survive the boy had never taken a life before and his fear was obvious in his expression but he grit his teeth and put on a brave face as he stared at Andrew.

After what had just happened, Andrew took the time to listen to Mr. Descent. When the seal was mentioned, Andrew stared down at his arm. The swirling tattoo had an ominous aura to it, as with everything about its maker. He directed his attention to the screen where a young man in nice clothes was displayed. He simply watched as fire consumed the boy after a similar seal on his arm ran out. He continued to listen, just about numb with fear, as Mr. Descent explained how it worked, and as he gave everyone five minutes to live.

After Mr. Descent had laughed and left, Andrew looked around at the streets. The televisions remained dark, but people were still up and about. From one of the alleys came a young boy, chains dangling from somewhere inside his arm. The boy stared at Andrew with an intensity. While Andrew didn't want to die with fire, he didn't want to kill either. He didn't have much time to consider alternative options as the boy rushed at him with a desperate cry. Andrew shielded his front with arms crossed, and blue particles manifested between the two combatants, stopping the young boy short. Andrew could feel power flowing into him as the boy struggled against the barrier. After a few seconds, the boy stopped, out of breath, hands on his knees. He stared up at Andrew with a pleading look on his face. Andrew faltered, hesitant to kill, but he had to do it. He mouthed an apology and a prayer as he held his right palm in front of him, drawing on the kinetic energy stored. A shockwave, made out of similar particles, blasted Andrew off his feet and sent the boy crashing against a nearby building. The seal on Andrew's arm reset.

Spencer felt physically sick after watching the display, could Mr Decent really do that to all of them? He looked to his arm and the curse mark for a little while wondering how much chaos would erupt and how many people would kill another person in the next 50 minutes. Suddenly the time was dropped to 5 minutes and his mouth dried up, he licked his lips as he considered he might have been bluffing, no way he'd be able to kill them all at once...Bur he knew it was wishful thinking and he slowly turned his neck to meet the gaze of the business man.

"No." Spencer said quickly. "No no no, sir think about this for just a second." He raised his hands above his head. "I am thinking..." The man said, his facing growing cold, stepping closer and looking at his hand . "Thinking about my wife, my daughter, my house, my car." He looked up from his hand and Spencer swallowed nervously, backing up slowly. "My life. The one I've built through years of hard work." The man suddenly raised his hand. "But you, you're just some punk kid, no life, no girlfriend I'm betting." Spencer could tell what was going to happen soon, he could tell that they weren't both going to make it out alive. "I'm sorry." The man said, tearing up slightly as his magical energy began to build. "Me too." Spencer said sadly, with his hands still in the air he clenched his fist tightly, the shadow on the ground wrapped tightly around the business man's legs and and pulled him to the ground. Spencer knew what had to be done, in this moment, right now, it was kill or be killed. The man on the ground was slowly enveloped by shadows, they wrapped around his neck and and pulled hard against the ground, the younger men's eyes were shut tight the whole time and after what felt like an eternity of the the man gasping and spasming he was dead.

Carson's head was pounding, "What the hell is happening?" he thought to himself. Just then he heard the sound of flames coming to life, like when you turn on a blowtorch. Turning his head he idly heard "I can't die." from the girl, but that didn't register as much as the fire spiraling out of her arm. Putting his hands in front of him, Carson said "Holy shit! Are you ok? Do you need to go to the hospital?" It was amazing to Carson that she was coherent or showing any pain, maybe she was in shock? At his words the girls face curled in confusion, but otherwise she just pointed her hand at him and unleashed a great ball of flame.

Using his reflexes Carson leapt out of the way but the resulting explosion flung him a little further than he wanted, landing face first into the pavement. Carson tasted blood shortly after and began to blindly search for something to protect himself, with the clack of high heeled shoes getting closer. The woman stepped up to Carson and said, "If its any consolation, I'm sorry." As flames collected in her hand once more Carson found something, a hunk of concrete broken off the sidewalk. Panicking, Carson absentmindedly filled the hunk of concrete with the energy from earlier and swung. Hitting the woman right on the temple and causing her head to explode.

Shock filled Carson as he saw the body slump over, not because of the blood but because how could someone do that? Whatever this weird ass tattoo was it was bad. Shakily, Carson got up and limped back to his apartment before any other crazies showed up. He needed a drink.

ID-"Everyone"

All it took was one moment.
Aria wasn't sure who fired the first shot, who took the first life since this accursed thing was placed on them, but that didn't matter now. The moment that first life was taken everything exploded in one moment and the city of Naveria was covered in a glow as magic erupted from everyone person in the square. Throughout the city of Naveria violence and murder seemed to be happening at every corner, people flew out of buildings, shops and anything unfortunate enough to be inside exploded, cars were hurled off the road and slammed into people, half the church wall was blown up as bodies flew out of it, people flew through the air and through walls as they were hit with one thing or another. What peacefulness the city had was no more as bodies fell left and right throughout Naveria.
Aria ducked as a ball of energy flew over her head destroying a lamp post behind her, she turned around to run only to be tackled by a man who held her down and raised his hand up, the palm of his hand opened up and a blade came out of the center of it, Aria didn't take the time to question what kind of messed up magic that was before slamming her fist into the side of his face knocking him off her.
She stood up as he scrambled to his feet and ran at her again, it seemed he wasn't hesitating which meant she couldn't afford to either. Aria ducked a slash at her face and slammed her fist into the man's stomach, grabbing his head she slammed it into her knee before kicking him in the chest knocking him to the ground. She ran over and slammed her knee into his chest before making a claw with her hand and putting it over his face the glow appearing again. She had to kill him, she wasn't going to die...she couldn't die...and he had attacked her with the intent to kill, he'd do it again if she let him.
"Wait I'm sorry please don't-"
A loud explosion came from her hand destroying the man's skull, red splattered on Aria's face and covered her hand as she slowly removed it from his face. Moving her eyes over to her hand she stared at the blood on it, a foreign feeling pounded at her chest for a moment, she didn't want to think about what she just did, with the passing moments everything inside of her seemed...numb for a moment...except for the feeling of the seal on her hand restoring itself.
She didn't have time to sit as a small ball of energy slammed into her chest sending her sliding back, she grit her teeth only to see multiples of the ball falling towards her, she crossed her arms over her face gritting her teeth waiting for the impact. However she felt a warmth surround her body before it vanished in a flash of white.

"No...."
The voice was weak and devoid of energy as a young boy wearing glasses walked out of the alley, his eyes went down to the body of the boy Andrew had killed, his hands were shaking as he stared at the now deceased young man, the seal on his hand was low on time as well, half an eye to be precise but that didn't seem to matter to him, as his gaze went over to Andrew.
"Murderer..." the young boy said his eyes moving over to Andrew. "You...killed him...you killed my brother! I'll kill you!"
Energy exploded out of the boy's body throwing everything around into the air causing it to crash down around them, a white glow emitted from the boy as magic crackled around his entire body, tears running down his face as he glared at Andrew. The magic seemed to be lashing out slamming into anything around him, it seemed the boy was manipulating the wind itself as he raised his hand and pointing his palm towards Andrew fired a large ball of wind towards him about the size of a hummer, white energy lashing about along the center
"Just die! Die you bastard!"
However before the attack could hit Andrew his body vanished in a glow of white without a sound.

A woman stepped out of the crowed who were still fighting among one another, her eyes stared down at the middle aged man's body, her eyes were wide and her whole body shook as she stared at the body. Her gaze slowly moved over to Spencer and reaching up she moved a strand of her light brown hair behind her ear, a wedding ring similar to the man's was resting on her hand. The woman didn't speak as she lowered her hand, the seal on her wrists was reset already and there was a little red on her white dress which showed she had already taken a life.
The woman's eyes narrowed as glass shattered from the windows of the shops around them before circling around her body, forming a small tornado around her body, some of the glass cut those unfortunate enough to be standing near her.
"......you took him from me...." the woman raised her hand the glass forming together before turning into a clear sword. "....I survived...just so I could...."
The woman held back her tears as more glass circled around her other arm before she ran at Spencer bringing her other hand to the makeshift sword, however before she could get close Spencer vanished in a flash of white causing her to stop and quickly look around for him.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?!"
A man stepped in front of Carson and cracked his neck, he had slicked back blond hair and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, hate and disdain were written over the man's face as he narrowed his eyes at Carson, he flexed his hand and a burst of magic exploded from his body, a small crater appeared beside him as his magic flared.
"You think you can kill my girl and just walk away like that," the man said. "I'm about to go Mag on your ass kid."
A car groaned before hovering off the ground next to man currently staring Carson down, he grabbed his cigarette before flinging the car at him with ferocious force, however before the car got within ten feet Carson's body disappeared in a twinkle of white the car landing where he was standing.
"The hell..." the man said taking a few steps forward.

Aria slowly lowered her arms and stood up as she realized that everything around her had gotten quiet, taking a look around she noticed that she was surrounded by an endless white landscape that seemed to stretch on miles. She started to wonder where she was at but froze seeing three men nearby, and as far as she could tell they were the only people around. She noticed the seals on their wrists, all of them were full...which meant they had killed someone. She couldn't judge them on that since she had done the same but she was pretty sure if they did it once they wouldn't be against doing it again.
"Stay away," Aria said to the three purple energy surrounded her fists.
"Wait stop Aria! Spencer, Carson and Andrew are in the same situation as you don't attack!"
Aria immediately froze as a voice echoed in her skull, she gripped her head and quickly looked around for the source confusion overwhelming her suspicion of the three for a moment.
"Do not be afraid, all of you should be able to hear me, I'm speaking through your curses, my name is Rai and I'm here to help you."
Aria felt a sting on her wrist and looked at it, her seal was glowing blue instead of red now. Her eyes moved to the other three and sure enough their seals were glowing blue just like hers. She still kept her distance but all the confusion at the circumstances froze her in place as she wasn't sure what to do right now.
"I don't have much time, Mr. Descent will find me if I speak too long here. I summoned you to another plane with my magic. For some reason I can access your seals. I know all of this is strange and you probably have a dozen questions, I want to help you but...but I need your help. I can extend the time on your seals and I can help you in removing them...but I need you to help me first...will you help me?"
It took Aria a second but she regained what composure she could, whatever was going on she seemed safer then a moment ago.
"....why don't you just extend the time now as a sign of good faith," Aria said flexing her hand. "Or just remove them that'd be better."
"The seals might detonate if I tamper with them too much, I'm sorry but all I can do is extend them right now. I can't do so unless you agree to help me."
Aria noticed that he could hear her, she wasn't sure how but if this was his world then it made sense...kind of.
"So you're forcing the issue," Aria said having calmed down a little.
"....I"m sorry...but I can't ask anyone else, please tell me your answers. Andrew, Spencer, Carson, Aria...help me and I will do the same for you."
Aria looked back at the three, she crossed her arms deciding to wait to hear their responses first.

Andrew breathed slowly. The first life on Earth he had taken was that of a child. It seemed very surreal, as if this was a bad dream and he could just wake up and go to the grocery store like he intended, and keep on having a normal life. He heard a shuffling in the alley near him.
"No..." a small voice said, weak and almost lifeless.the source being a young boy of similar age with a pair of cracked glasses on his face. The seal on his arm was low, so he was desperate. The boy stumbled over to the crumpled body of the one Andrew had just killed. Andrew just stood there. He had no idea how to handle the situation. Before he could walk away, the boy spoke again, turning to Andrew.
"Murderer..." he muttered, voice laced with hatred. Andrew's skin tingled, and a shiver went down his spine in anticipation.
"You...killed him..." he said, his voice louder this time. "You killed my brother! I'll kill you!" A burst of energy from the boy's body threw Andrew off balance and falling on his side. A vortex of white energy had surrounded the boy's body. With palm extended, a ball of wind and energies formed, and with great ferocity, the boy threw it towards him. Anticipating the attack, Andrew crossed his arms and constructed a kinetic barrier. But then there was nothing. The landscape had vanished into a white... endlessness. There were three other people, each of them with full seals. Andrew prepared to make a barrier, but a voice told him to stop. He listened as the voice, Rai, explained their problem and how these people, apparently named Carson, Aria, and Spencer, were in the same situation. When the deal was proposed, Andrew firmly nodded. He'd be happy to help if he could prevent himself from killing more people.

Aria watched the three and she noticed one of the guys nod his head, her eyes narrowed at him a little but she remained silent as a relieved sigh came from Rai. They couldn't see his face but it was easy to hear in his voice that he was relieved to hear someone was willing to help, Aria crossed her arms closing her eyes for a moment as she contemplated Rai's offer a bit further, though she already knew what answer she wanted to give as little other choice was presented to her.
"You have my help too," Aria said opening her eyes. "Not that I really have much choice."
"Thank you very much Aria, Andrew," Rai said. "Please check your seals."
Aria looked at her wrist and she couldn't find anything to different from it except the open eye at the top was now closed, she flexed her hand a few times and ran a finger down the curse, she could still feel what was apparently magic running through her which meant it wasn't gone but if Rai wasn't lying their time was longer.
"The seal will count down as it always does but when it reaches the eye it will slowly open, once it's fully open you have an hour left to live, when it fully vanishes the seal will activate, I adjusted the seal to represent the time a little easier for you in that regard."

Aria nodded and lowered her hand before she noticed the white world crackle around them for a moment, she looked over at the men before Rai's voiced filled the area again
"Sorry it's almost time I pull you from this reality Mr. Descent will find me soon like this. Spencer and Carson your seal's will remain the same until I receive an answer, the link is open between everyone so if you need to speak to me you need only call out to me with your mind. Similar to how I'm doing this now."
"Okay so.... speak like this then and you'll hear me."
"Yes if you wish to speak directly to me, I can hear you at all times but to communicate directly to me without Mr. Descent knowing you'll need to speak that way, the same goes for you Andrew. Your curses are linked together so if one speaks, you'll all hear the same message and my response. Think of it like a conference call on a telephone if that helps. [
"Fair enough then, anything else you want to share?"
"You'll have to kill to survive," Rai said a bit of dejection in his voice. "I hate to say so but there is no other way to reset the curse. Keep in mind that if one of you takes a life, it counts for all those linked so Andrew if you kill someone Aria's seal will reset along with yours so long as you aren't too far away from each other, your current distance is fine. I believe thirty feet is the limit, I will expand on it when the opportunity presents itself. There isn't much time before I pull you from this reality but I understand you may be confused, if you'd like to ask a question I can answer a few before you go."
