The New 52 Ultra-Verse: Legacy of the Supers

Hey everybody! Okay, so I've been hankering to try out a Group Superhero RP. There are obviously many different ways we can handle this: Freeform (like the comics, with people controlling heroes and villains), Team-based (something like Teen Titans or Young Justice), or a combination of the two (There are teams, but you can also Freeform).

As well, there are many possibilities for comic universes and characters. We can go in the world of Marvel, DC, Darkhorse, and many others who I am not as familiar with (the first three stick out the most for me). With all these various worlds and characters, places and scenarios to go through, deciding on a major plot can be difficult.. So, that's why I'm offering multiple ideas for us to decide on! ^^

It should be noted that almost all of these RP's will be placed in a universe where all the well-known Comic Universes are combined (Ex. This means we can have Batman and Iron Man starting a money fight while Hellboy watches and laughs at the billionaires).

IDEA #1: A Group Superhero RP about a new team. After a massive break-out from the Treskelion Prison and Arkham Asylum, 6000 of the worlds most dangerous villains have escaped and are wreaking havoc upon the world. Can a new group of heroes, made of the sons and daughters of famous heroes, manage to stop the chaos and madness, as well as unravel what really cased the break-outs?

IDEA #2: A Freeform-Group idea. Same premise as the first, with the mass prison break-outs, but dealing more with our own stories and story-arc's. For example: The Avengers may team up with the Justice League to take on the Mandarin, while Batman(or Woman) is busy with the Joker in his(or her) own.

IDEA #3: A Freeform Superhero RP. This idea can be set in a universe of our own making (with original heroes/villains), a Re-invented Universe (Marvel/DC reboots like the New 52 DC comics), or an Alt. Universe (with Legacy characters. We can go two routes with this one: play the children who have taken on the mantle of their parent(s), or Legacy characters like Peter Parker as Spider-Man, or Hal Jordan as Green Lantern).

IDEA #4: A Fandom RP. This mostly consists of Teen Titans, Justice League, Young Justice, or Avengers RP's. This would be the most basic idea and again, world relate back to the first idea. Probably not the same sort of break-out deal, but defiantly dealing with the assembling of a new team to try and become the next great world defenders.

That's a brief overview of the ideas I had for this, but as said this is highly open for discussion! Let me know what you guys think and what you're willing to do. I'd like to try something that combines all the comic worlds so we have a larger variety of things we can try with this, or just create a whole new original universe.

Anyways, post below if you're interested. I'll wait for around 4 people, not including myself, to show interest, at which point we'll really begin discussing.

To be honest, I like the sound of all of those ideas really. #2 and #3 seem like they'd be the best to me, but any of them would work out pretty well.

...There is one thing I would like to ask, though, and I'll understand if the answer is no, but... In the event that we go with a crossover, do we have to stick to American comics for our characters? For some reason I kind of want to stick a Kamen Rider into a superhero crossover, see, but again I'll understand if you just want to stick to Marvel/DC/etc. ^^;

Hmmm, well I wouldn't be against the idea using Manga as a sort of crossover bridge he, sure that could work for me. After all, the Marvel comics has a Manga-verse, and multiple characters are based in Japan, so I don't see a reason why we can't have Japanese Manga people inside. I'd probably just limit the numbers though, because this is primarily a superhero comcs RP, but I'll allow people to play them if they so choose.

I'd love to play some Wildstorm characters, at least Wildstorm before the DC buyout. Jack Hawksmoor, Spartan, The Midnighter etc..

Ah, you seem to have misunderstood me. ^^; Whilst anime/manga stuff would be neat, Kamen Rider is predominently a live action superhero franchise. It's had a few manga adaptations over the decades, but again, it's mostly a live action thing. For example, here's a bunch of more recent Riders.

That's fine, no worries. Okay, so we've got a Wildstorm and a Kamen Rider character, what plots do you think would work best?

This looks like fun, count me in! Idea #2 or 3 sound the best to me but I'm easy. Also, is it cool if I hold off on choosing a character for now although I am a bit of a Batman mark :P

Sure, works for me. I'll also just say for the future that if we go with existing heroes, Dibs on Spider-Man.

This could be very interesting. I think I'd go with some kind of [colour] lantern, probably blue.

Alright then, seems like we have a significant amount of people interested.

Anyways, lets talk more details. So if we did idea #3, then what would you like to try? A New Universe with Legacy Characters, a Rebooted Mega-Verse (almost the same as the first, but we'll be playing the first versions of these characters), or a Pure Legacy-verse (where we play as the preexusting characters like Bruce Wayne as Batman)

Idea #2 sounds good to me. It allows those whom want to be a part of a team be a team while those who don't can remain solo.

Yeah alright, so it seems like #2 and #3 have the most votes. I think we should put it to a vote. I'll cast my vote with #2.

Or maybe we could combine them if people can't decide.

I like the part in your 3rd idea about the re-inventing of characters like DC's New 52 & Marvel's Ultimate Universe too. :p

Basically this.

...Only hopefully far less shoddy than the New 52. XD

I have to admit, the New 52 is pretty bad this far, but its improving. I still can't believe they made Dick Grayson Nightwing so fast :/

He's always been the best Robin in y opinion. Nightwing was a dumb idea, but I just prefer him as Robin.

So far, that looks like 3 votes for idea #3, while there's 2 votes for #2.
