I should point out to the people whose characters recognize Maryev for his race might not be able to pinpoint it exactly because he's in full armour and his face is concealed within a helm, so he should just look like an abnormally large man to most people.

Certainly not saying there aren't people who wouldn't immediately have him pegged as one based on physique alone, but they'd probably have had seen one before/ been well educated about the various races to identify traits.

Anyways! Minor detail, just thought I'd clarify just in case you guys were like "I SEE YOU JAKE SULLY!" because of an impression his face isn't concealed. He learned that lesson hard his first couple of weeks in exile; people tend not to like monsters all that much. :D

The main concern would be for Hellix, 'cause I don't know if a city guard would immediately identify him. He might have suspicions, but mobilizing the guard for someone being a dick to children seems... excessive, unless Kakariko Village just became a part of North Korea.

On the subject of the city guard...
Helix, whilst there's no rule against making NPCs (that's A-Okay, folks!), there're certain rules that need to be kept in mind.

Firstly, if you're going to make an NPC that's bestest buds with another NPC (a la Gilford and Sir Orca), or establish a relationship like that with anybody, you need to run it by the other person, first. I think Baklava has already explained this, hasn't she? You can't establish a history between two people without the one party knowing about it, that's going to make for some very confusing conversations.

Secondly, Captain of the Town Guard is a pretty important and influential position, perhaps so important that it might one day matter to the plot. If you're going to establish a high ranking NPC, it's very important you come to either me or Baklava first so we can okay it.
Whilst we encourage immersing yourselves with NPCs if you'd like, you can't just go and make your NPC Captain of the Guard, you know? That's a very presumptuous move.

Also, just a lore-minder: Queen Laruto does not live in the Water Temple, nor did Princess Ruto or King Zora before her. The Water Temple is, well, a temple, not a palace.
The Zora monarchs still live with their colony as they did in OoT.

Sir James Gilford is more or less a fanatic rather than a rank and file soldier, although he is head of the lesser equipped and even less motivated Hylain Town Watch. Due to his attitude, the stress he puts on himself that makes him unlikable, his men would only be of concern if Maryov were to strike him down.

Plus, it hasn't been that long since a 'particular Chilfos' has gone missing and that caused quite a commotion, so he might be a bit uppity if he suspects a brawl or clashing of swords.

Edit: If that still troubles you, I can work on another post that takes advantage of his posse of drunk goons that are always telling him to chill.

I don't think the concern's with his personality. It's making and controlling and NPC with a majorly important position that has real potential for control over aspects of the game, and also one that the GMs might have had something planned for. Like, the character has the ability to send his men after various characters, for instance, which is power playing, especially in light of the fact a character like Maryev would not back down from a fight at his own peril because that's his nature.

I'm pretty sure when they say you're allowed to make NPCs, it just means characters for yours to interact with so your player character can interact with the world in small ways for the sake of writing instead of characters that can fundamentally alter the game experience for other players in a tangible way.

Seems like I'm destined to advertise a roleplay once per roleplay. Might as well get it out of the way now.

I co-GM an RP called Dungeon Keepers in which you play an evil overlord or something similar and build up your empire to conquer the world. That is, of course, a very basic synopsis, but if you're interesting in being the bad guy, please check it out. We just suffered the simultaneous loss of four players at once, so anyone's welcome. Though we have gone through nine pages so far, nothing to significant has happened that can't be explained in a short paragraph, and new players are given leeway to catch up.

We would prefer you edit the mention of Gilford out all together, if possible. It's not really necessary for him to be around, considering Sir Halbert is in charge of overseeing the festivities and is more likely to be the one in command of the guards there.
Why would he be telling Kaiver to return to his post, anyway? Surely Kaiver's post is in Castle Town.

Heilix, we can PM about it if you're really adamant about Gilford. I would be far more open to him being a Second Lieutenant, perhaps? We just need to come to an agreement/understanding about who he is, how many men he commands, why he's working in Kakariko when he's stationed in Castle Town, etc. Creating highly influential NPCs is something I really need to know about before you post it.

Also-- I agree with Derv. I think jumping the gun on his Darknut would not only make little sense/be quite an overreaction, but it wouldn't mesh very well with what's going on story-wise right now. You have to build off what he's already posted. If it was really that obvious he was a Darknut, I would have pointed out that his character wouldn't have been able to so easily walk right into town or else had the guards react appropriately (like how Izzaz rode a Wolfos into town and Halbert later reprimanded Kaiver for letting it happen).
