"Hm...." The crinkling of plastic bags can be heard as the sin worked deftly to untie the knot. The knot unraveled easily with a few tugs and pulls, and the sin slipped it off, revealing a clear, plastic container that held a grand, elegantly decorated cheesecake. Swirls of red-violet raspberry jam decorated the surface, blending in beautifully with the light cream filling. The edges were lined with puffs of whipped cream, piped neatly to look like little white roses. The entire cake was dusted with tiny shavings of white chocolate, which the sin thought it could've done without, appearance-wise, but since everything was eventually going to end up in his stomach, he supposed that it didn't matter. The cake definitely wasn't bought for aesthetic purposes anyways.

He skipped the whole cutting and plating process, simply opting to just dig a fork into the cake and eat away. From his position on the plush, red, velvety couch, he could feel the building tension in the atmosphere and hear the slowly brewing competition. Apparently, someone had steered the once casual conversation down the "I'm-better-than-you-guys" path (probably Pride), and now everyone was scrambling to prove that they were better, without actually stating it, of course. Gluttony listened quietly as he ate, judging each of their statements within the safe confines of his own mind. Mentally, he tried to prove himself as well.

"I know you all might be a bit envious," flashing a playful glance at Envy "but shouldn't it be obvious that I'm the best sin? I mean, just look at the humans, all of them are consumed by lust. Though the ones lusting for sex seem to be concentrated in the male population...everyone wants in on their guilty pleasures." He smirked looking at the rest of the sins who seem to be boiling with vexation. "It's a bit hard to accept I know but can't you all just deal with it?" Of course, he was kidding, as he always enjoyed getting reactions out of his friends. Lust turned around on his heels and proceeded to walk away before he noticed Gluttony lounging on his red couch (as usual).

"Oh don't be such a fatass." Lust teased, "You should learn to share you know." He reached his arm out and grabbed the plastic container which contained the half eaten cheesecake as well as Gluttony's used fork. He broke a small piece off the cake and inserted it into his mouth when his expression changed almost immediately into a look of pure contentment.

Anabel skipped down the street as her mothers accusations gnawed at the back of her mind. Her mother was wrong, Anabel had not 'given in' to sin. Just because she liked to have chocolates every now and then did not make her a sinner. Besides she could stop her sugary confection anytime she desired. It wasn't like she was addicted. With a sigh she passed the neighbor hood candy store. Her mint green hair lit up the glass pane as her eyes caught sight of the sweets. She bit her bottom lip. It's not like I need them...

Envy's green eyes looked at the annoyed sins as she listened to Lust making her become more envious of them and muttered,"I'm so jealous that they're more better sins than me,"Her eyes moved to Gluttony eating a entire cake,"I'm so jealous that he's eating that cake...."She started biting her thumb as she watched Lust take the cake.

Gluttony's calm and usually falsely gentle eyes hardened at the sight of Lust stealing a piece of his cake. A slender hand reached out to grab the other boy's wrist in a firm, vice-like grip. "What do you think you're doing?" He asked in a smooth, even tone. Although his voice is mild, and his face is set in what seemed to be a blank, expression-less state, his eyes were stormy and threatening. This had not been the first time, and in the back of his mind, Gluttony was fully aware that Lust was doing this simply to get a reaction -- any reaction, out of him. Rather than seducing, Lust seemed to enjoy himself more on going around and ruffling people's feathers just for fun. Gluttony often found himself wondering what made the guy the Sin of Lust.

"... Well?" Gluttony pressed on, waiting for a reply. His grip remained firm as he maintained a steady gaze on the other male.

Maya got dressed in her red, long sleeve button up top and black skirt along with her white waist apron tied on. She pulled her auburn hair into a high ponytail and pulled on white thigh high stockings with black calf high combat boots. She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed, yay, another day at the diner' Maya then walked out the door of her crappy apartment and walked down five flights to the front door. She exited her building and went down 10 blocks to the diner. She entered and went to the back to clock in. "Hey Maya!" The cook Pablo called out. "Hey Pablo." Maya said with a slight wave, no emotions reaching her face. Yeah it may seem like they are friends but it's just a friendly hello. She doesn't trust anyone anymore, not after everything that happened in her childhood. Maya picked up the notebook for orders and a pen and went out into the diner, a fake smile plastered on her face. A smile never reaching her eyes. Her name tag placed on a pocket of her top. She began her boring job and a boring day.

Lust laughed weakly and released himself from Gluttony's grip. Although Gluttony had a talent for maintaining an expressionless face, one could usually see his true feelings through his eyes. "Geez, you don't have to be so aggressive." Lust muttered with a faltering smile. "It's just cake and I only took a bite..." he glanced at the cake and returned the container as well as the fork back to its owner. "Here. Happy now?" He asked with a cock of his head. "Of course he is, he's always content when he's eating..." Lust kept his thoughts to himself and let out a quiet laugh to himself.

"Well," turning back to the rest of the sins, Lust opened his arms suggestively. "Instead of this pointless quarrel, why don't we prove who's the best by having a little contest?"
He glanced at each one of them for their reactions.

Gluttony blatantly ignored Lust's questions and went straight back to eating. It would take little while, but he would end up forgiving the brunette one way or another, eventually, like he always did. It was like an extremely predictable cycle. Lust would agitate him, he would get mad, stay mad, but then time would pass and he would find his anger simply melting away as the days did. Rinse, then repeat. He knew it, Lust knew it, the other sins knew it. It happens almost often, he would think, but not often enough to be called a routine, so he simply opts for calling it a "cycle".

Gluttony paused, fork raised up to his slightly parted mouth. He indicated his interest in Lust's proposition by raising a single eyebrow. Closing his mouth and dropping his fork back down to the container, he decided to openly voice his curiosity. "What do you mean by "contest"?" He inquired.

Anabel pushed the dancing candies from her head and continued down the road. She wasn't sure why she had wanted them so much. It wasn't like she was hungry. She just wanted to taste their sugary goodness. Her mind flashed back to her mother. It's a sin Her mothers voice nagged at her. Besides, it will make you fat. Anabel glanced down at her body. She was skinny and she knew that. Her thigh gap was visible and she had a defined waist. She never really understood why such things were the definition of 'pretty' but she didn't really argue with it either. In all honestly she could not care less about putting on some weight. What really worried her was the fact that she could be branded a sinner.

"But, Dad... you promised you'd stay home this week." Ume tried her best to keep her voice at it's normal, uninterested tone, but it faltered slightly at the last word. Her father was, once again, heading out on a trip to who knows where, but this time, Ume actually cared. The upcoming week held her birthday and he promised to stay at home for the week to celebrate.

"Ume, I know I did but I've got to go, ok? It's important." Her father barely lifted his head to look at his daughter at all as he spoke, "I'll still buy you that nice purse you wanted, won't that be nice?" Ume simply nodded her head a fraction and left the study, her spirits completely crushed. The sound of her 3-inch heels clicked against the dark, polished wood floors, and the hall seemed much longer than when she came through it earlier. As she sulked her way back to her bedroom, she tried to think things through in her head. Of course, she had thought this was a possibility, that no one would celebrate with her, even her own parents. None of her so-called friends wanted to hang out with her unless they got something out of it, but it's not like Ume wanted them to care about her birthday.

"I didn't want to deal with them anyway... I'll just celebrate by myself and it'll be fine." Ume muttered to herself, willing herself to believe, that being alone on her birthday would be perfectly alright.

Maya finally got to go into the kitchen to retrieve a bunch of food. Her cheeks hurt from faking a smile that whole time she had taken orders and it felt good to return to her emotionless state. Unfortunately, it didn't last long. She soon had two trays full of food on each hand. Maya walked out into the diner, smile once again plastered onto her face as she walked from table to table, serving couples, friends, families, school groups. So many different types of people. When they finished she cleaned up the tables. Then Maya began the whole process over again. Seat, take orders, serve, clean... seat, take orders, serve, clean.... and so on. It was a simple, boring routine in her simple, boring life.

Envy looked at Lust and muttered,"A contest?"Maybe if I join this contest I could possibly be the best sin, She thought.The sin stopped biting her thumb and got her attention to Lust.

"Yes, a contest!" Lust replied with delight, clearly pleased that he had gained the attention of the rest of the sins. He clasped both hands together and looked at the others with an expression that they knew too well. Lust's gold eyes flickered as if he knew something the others didn't.

"Instead of pointlessly arguing about who's the best, why don't we actually prove it? We've deceived humans in the past with our sins so why don't we do it again, but instead compete against each other? Who ever can bring a human to submit to their in the quickest will be deemed the 'best sin'."

Sloth had been alseep on the couch. He'd been there for who knows how long, considering that that is his sin. He awoke while they were talking, sat up, then stretched and yawned. He overheard what they were talking about. "You do realize that that is conradictory? You cannot be a 'good sin', let alone the best." he said once he was fully awake. "Remember, we're here to provoke a human's sin, not argue about who is the best out of all of this." he said, obviously displeased by his fellow sins. Even though he was Sloth, he was still very smart, and sometimes the other sins weren't very. Also, even though he was Sloth, he was very responsible, and would go to great lengths to provoke a human's laziness.

Envy got her attention to Sloth and kind of agreed to what he said,He is speaking the truth...Soon afterwards she turned to Lust and asked him,"Where will we find the human?"
