The UEAS has gladly allowed the revealing of the Constitution to take place in their own capital, and Fergus McClain has promised to be present during the vote. He said he wouldn't miss it for anything.

"This is Capcom to Planetes 01. All aircraft have cleared your planned trajectory, ground vehicles and spectators have left the blast, sound, and heat lethal areas. All spectators are in launch bunkers, and the cameras are rolling. You are go for stability tower disengage."

The rocket stood on the pad, connected to the three remaining red stability clamps that held it in place, three other blue ones were disconnected. In the distance, multiple concrete bunkers could be seen with nearly six inch thick glass. Emily Natālija sat inside the space capsule, with just enough room to move her arms to the controls. Luckily, she had convinced the engineers to give her a nice big window in the nose of the spacecraft. Originally, it was going to be a small porthole just above her head, but instead it was like the cockpit of a B-29.

"Roger that, Capcom. Stability tower disengaged. Gyro stabilizers compensating. All systems nominal, permission to begin final preparations?"

"Permission granted, Colonel."

She began to flick the multiple switches in front of her into their launch positions, every once in a whole looking over to her notebook to check whether or not she missed anything. Though the controls were similar to the aircraft she had flown in before, she only had a month or so of training in the actual capsule, so she had opted to take a notebook with a checklist for each stage of the flight.

"Launch escape system armed, parachutes armed." She said, ,flipping switches must faster now. "Engines primed, supplies locked down, launch guidance engaged. I am prepared for liftoff, where's the countdown?"

"We're at T minus twenty seconds, Colonel. Prepare to engage engines."

Emily moved her hand to the switch that would engage the solid rocket boosters, and only now did she become nervous. There was no way to control the boosters, if there was a problem in one of them then all she could do would be to wait for her death to come. Her hand started trembling, and she was torn between wanting the launch to happen and wanting to to be scrubbed at the last minute.

"T minus ten seconds. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five-"

"Ignition sequence start!" Said Emily, flicking another switch with her left hand. She could feel the clunk of the stability clamps disengaging, knowing the only thing holding the rocket upright now was the gyros and the clamps at the very bottom of the ship.

"Four. Three. Two. One!"

"Engines engaged!" She yelled, flicking the final switch. A deafening roar was heard as the engines began to burn, and Emily was slammed back into her seat by six gees of force.

"LIFTOFF!" Yelled Capcom, and she could hear the cheering from the others in the room. At this point, there was only one thought going through her mind.
I'm going to space

The voice of Fergus McClain came through on the comm line, sounding like he couldn't believe the launch was happening.

"I would call dibs on 02, but I'm not allowed to voluntarily endanger my life. Make us proud, Colonel. Ad Astra Per Scientiam!"

"Ad Astra Per Scientiam!" She responded, half expecting to wake up.

But she didn't, and the rocket kept on ascending towards the sky, refusing to obey gravity.

The vote for the new constitution was a huge success with only 1 opposing vote. Josef the 2nd was at Washington D.C just a month ago where he revealed it to the public. It stated that Japan will be divided into 4 states. The top Island will be known as Toppu shima, The mainland will be split in the middle between Omona tochion and Yobun'na basho while the two other islands will be known as Futatsu no shima, more information will be stated later.

Zwitter has stated that he has now created the Drag-Chute, Ballistics Warhead, Atomic warhead, and the Handheld pistol. He stated the Warheads will be for extra support if a war breaks out between multiple superpowers. He has stated that this moon mission should go very nicely. In other news Josef has boosted support for the RJSA by 10%.

The War in China by: Kurd Markgraf

With Chiang being assassinated by members of the De Vidian army the invasion is going easy. They are saying that all the rebels should be dead within a year, which would make annexing China easy.

The Vote for the Leader by Kurd Markgraf:

It has been recently revealed that the vote for the first Shacho of the Republic will be in April, the one who wins the vote will take office in January next year. Parties have already started forming, the founders of these Parties have given them names, here is the list.

The elections for the governors of the states will also happen around the same time, the will the government will work is that there will be 1 main leader, while the 4 governors work as a sort of senate to the Leader.

NASA
NASA has built a Heavy SRB factory, using up one of it's parts on it. It has also constructed three heavy liquid fuel tanks and three dual-nozzle liquid fuel engines. They have declared their intention to be the first to the Moon, and Wernher Von Braun has proposed the construction of a spacecraft in orbit of the Earth through multiple launches. They have stated that the first launch will be the drive system for the craft, the second the Habitation module, and the third the landing craft. However, since it will require a crew of multiple people, they have begun researching larger space capsules. Ideally, they want to send a crew of four, but will settle for a crew of three if it is needed to reach the Moon first.

The UESP has began construction on a directional antennae. Somehow, a recent manifest of parts required for the Imperial Two has been leaked to the public. It is unknown whether they have acquired these parts as of yet. In addition, funding has been increased by a further 15%, far surpassing the level Timish had wanted. He has stated that with the new found funding he can accelerate the Imperial Two. An anonymous UESP scientist joked that they could probably plate the Imperial Two with £50 notes after the latest increase in funding and still be able to buy the required parts

UE Forces happenings

The group of Nine Royal Navy ships has engaged and sank a fleet of twelve Chinese ships.
A further two Chinese ships were sank by the RAF
A Chinese force attempted to invade India but was met with staunch resistance and have been pushed back into China. The UE has not, as of yet, invaded China it's self.

Lance Corporation
Lance Corporation has deeply apologized for what David has suffered in space. Lance Corp is picking up his medical expenses, as well as his regular paycheck and 2 million in compensation. However in other news Robert came out and stated that they were offering a prize of 20 million for anyone who could come up with a long term option for power in space, that was cheap and reliable. They are also offering 10million for anyone capable of coming up with a solution that will allow astronauts to stay in space long term without suffering muscle and bone atrophy.
Construction has begun on a Factory set to produce Heavy SRBs, so a part has been put forward for its design. Lance Corp isn't planning any launches this year, merely said they are preparing for another one.
The other Parts constructed are 2 Liquid Fuel engines and 3 heavy fuel tanks.

With the new constitution the possibility of an alliance between the UEAS and the Republic of Japan is high, with this a chance for the Republic of Japan to just work on Space parts is growing.

Zwitter has said that he plans on launching his first spaceship next year, with this, he says that if he starts small with just getting a person in space it will be perfect. Hiroo Onoda will be the man who gets to go into space, as he was the best member of the Japanese Airforce in Ww2.

A new leaderby: Kurd Markgraf

With a republic being born, a leader must be elected, so this sadly means Josef the 2nd will no longer lead us. Shon Peiton has been elected leader of the Republic of Japan, he is the founder of the Republican Party of Japan. Even with this, the Republic of Japan and any territory it gets later on will use Josef the 2nd as the “Leader”, as he is the starter of a royal family. The “King” will have no power over any relations, they will just be used as a figurehead.

UESP

The construction of the directional antenna has been completed, and they have pushed on to phase two. Newly released information states the Imperial Two launch to be set for 1956. The leaked manifest for the Imperial two have been confirmed as "only half right" by scientist McGee. A janitor, John Campbell, has been dismissed by the UESP, and left rambling about aliens and conspiracy theories. Doctor Timish has refused to comment on the latest firing, though it is known that Mr Campbell has been admitted to an Asylum. Regardless, conspiracy theorists were quick to jump on the incident, believing that Imperial two has in fact been shot down by a UFO and the UESP is trying to cover it up. Most sane people echo the words o the 6 o'clock news announcer "What utter bollocks"

Meanwhile, a rocket has been launces towards the moon. Consisting of two stages, this rocket is confirmed to be unmanned. It is called "Auxiliary One"

UESP

Contrary to the papers belief... This mission hadn't gone entirely as planned. They hadn't landed the ship on the moon as intended, but nonetheless they got what was required...
Now that the Super computer was finished, they had what they required for their venture... To land a monkey, HC (Harold Cheshire) on the moon, and bring him home. The UESP did not cut corners, unlike the UEAS and the Lance. There was pressure from above to launch the manned flight now, and Timish had insisted they launch a monkey first. But there was discontent in parliament... Churchill had jumped on the chance to get a reelection and demanded outright that they send a man. Against Timish protests, Imperial Two was to be manned. Timish has made no public appearance since, save a single announcement denouncing Churchill for forcing the UESP to breach reasonable scientific methods. There are rumours that he has resigned, but no one is sure whether these are true or not.

Criticism of UEAS

Churchill has waded in to support the movie, stating that the UEAS should do more to represent the German people as the UE has strives to do. Queen Elizabeth commented that it was in favour of democracy to represent all the peoples of a nation, and has said that the UEAS should strive to better recognise the German culture and truly integrate it with their own in as many ways as possible to ensure the two identities become bound together.
