The colonisation of Arran is a sci-fi nation rp set on the garden world Arran.
Players are free to design their own faction and can create everything from a cult seeking a new home to settle to an intergalactic corporation creating a new outpost.
At the start, each player will be able to select his or her starting location on the map and will receive a set amount of resources with which they can buy the equipment for their first colony. Through mining, farming, trading, exploring,… they will be able to gather more resources and thus be able to buy or even manufacture their own equipment to grow their colony
.
(For the main thread I will create a very detailed chart with all manner of available equipment and their prices such as mining rigs, importable animals such as horses and cows, air transports, battle tanks, surveyor vehicles and much much more.)

Perhaps the different settlements will peacefully live together, or perhaps one of them will go to war against the others and claim the world for its own, perhaps a great alliance will be formed to unite the world entirely… it’s all in the hands of the players.

Hey everyone, I'm sorry to have to report to you that a few recent real life events have kept me from working on this rp enough to finish it by today like I said I would.
Almost three quarters of the work has been done though, both the initial post and a large part of the catalogue as well as most of the (secret ;p) background work which the players can reveal through exploration of the world.
Everything will most likely be ready for posting somewhere this weekend if the coming days are anything like the past few days in the way of RL workload.

In the meantime, I'd really apreciate it if you guys could post a short desciption of what you'd immagine your colonists to be like. If they're religious, enviromentally minded or calculated pursuers of profit for instance.

Oh and before I forget, perhaps also where you'd like to start.

I am thinking my Colonists are going to be religious and environmentally minded. Maybe fisherman colony with a mind for trade.

My colonists are going to be aggressive, with a focus on war. But first, they need to establish a firm foothold on this new world.

I suppose my first thought on reading this one is that some kind of craft/trade group would do well. Shepherding, spinning, weaving. You'll all need socks. :) Also the creation of high-end trade goods. So they wouldn't be a martial group, but would have a lot of power through having skills that people needed. They'd probably be a small group living on some kind of highland/moorland with sheep and goats, but would be respected for quality tradeable goods. That's first impressions, anyway.
