Name/Nickname: Grizel Lyall
Race: Fauna
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Weapons/Equipment/Armor:
Spark Striker - A set of gauntlets that also come with retractable claws. Said claws can also be imbued with an electrical current to make those cuts sting a little more, or even ejected to stun a distant target, which requires extra electrical power.
The weapon itself isn't exactly flashy, but it perfectly suits Grizel's style of battle; just let the enemy tire themselves out by fighting defensively, and then strike mercilessly as they struggle to keep up. Grizel's physical strength, while remarkable in comparison to a 'normal' person, is also quite lacking when compared to most other Hunters, which she makes up for with a focus on speed and her evasive movements.
Semblance: N/A, at least for now.
Hobbies: Flaunting her status as a Fauna, acting in plays, sleeping during class, eating whenever she can, and beating up bigots.
Bio: When she was a child, the young Grizel was relatively sheltered by her parents; she know of the hatred for her kind, but had yet to experience it first-hand. Living near an expansive forest free of Grimm activity, she often spent most of her time alone, never venturing far from her small home. At least until one day, when she met a young girl who seemed to have gotten lost in the forest.
As this girl was a human, Grizel was hesitant to inform her parents, as they may just reject the girl's pleas and allow her to wander the forest alone, so Grizel opted to lead the girl as best she could towards the path leading to the nearby city. During this, Grizel and the girl questioned each other about their respective races, learning of each other and wondering exactly why they were supposed to hate each other. Eventually, the two found the path back to the city, coming across the girl's parents. They hurriedly left with their daughter, leaving the confused Grizel with rather biting comments.
Not too long after that, with the sudden appearance of a Grimm near their home, Grizel and her parents were forced to move into the city proper, and Grizel finally saw the full brunt of the ire for the Faunus. Were it not for meeting that little girl again, she may have come to detest humans for their attitude, but her friendship, even with the bullying that came with associating with Grizel, made her realise that kindness still existed, and hoped to spread it throughout everyone.
Opting to become a Hunter in the hopes that fighting for the sake of everyone would change people's minds, Grizel joined the academy. She keeps in touch with her friend, promising that, within their lifetime, she'd find a way to unite humans and faunus forever.
Personality: A girl that always seems to have something to smile about, Grizel is enthusiastic about the things she loves. Yes, even the sleeping thing. Despite her bright and cheerful disposition, she is not above goading bigots and bullies into fights in order to humiliate them, believing that this will help change their views on her kind. She is slow to actual anger, however, only becoming so when she comes across outright abuse and malicious hatred.
Normally, however, Grizel is quite kind and sociable, willing to help anyone in trouble and all that good stuff. She most definitely doesn't agree with White Fang's methods, although she does wonder if they're a cause worth supporting. She wants true peace and equality between the races, but has no idea how to properly achieve that. Thus, her working plan for now is to somehow beat the racism out of people as she work to become a renowned Huntress.
Finally, Grizel has an interest in cooking, despite possessing no real affinity for it. Years of practise has at least made her a passable cook, though she strives to perfect her abilities in this field.

"We'll, I'm finally here. I made it into Beacon," murmured the brunette Faunus, barely audible over the scratching of pencil on paper. Propped on one elbow as she lay on her stomach, Grizel Lyall paid no heed to the hundreds of students in the hall around her, focusing on her letter to a dear friend.
"I saw a couple of other Faunus in the crowd, I guess you were right! I hope we can get along," she continued, her smile widening slightly, "and I hope we can show everyone that we're more than what they think we are. Besides, we're the way cuter race!"
Grizel continued to write in her letter, interrupted at one point with a yawn. She was going to need to sleep soon, and prepare for whatever was going to happen tomorrow. The Faunus hoped that her classes would prove fruitful; after all, if she was gonna be a top-class, world-changing Huntress, she'd need the greatest education around!
Stretching her arms above her head, Grizel suppressed another yawn, letting them drop to her head after a moment. She'd come a long way for this, and with any luck her work wouldn't be in vain...
She'd noticed a few people staring at her or other Faunus at some point. Not nearly as many people as she'd expected, though, so that was something. Maybe things wouldn't be so bad here? Well, only time would tell.
Placing the letter under her pillow, Grizel crawled under the bedsheets and huddled her knees to her chest, grinning with excitement as she closed her eyes. Already, she imaged herself revered as a hero that slew an army of giant, nigh-unstoppable Grimm single-handedly, bringing happiness and equality to everyone in the city, becoming a legendary hero...
And then her dreams devolved into giant cake battles.
