Huh, I never knew that about monks. Archangel's character looks like it'll be an interesting one!

Well, I don't know how much an official rule that is, but monks and Buddhist priests, along with some others (whose names I forgot) usually stop talking about their past, their future - and sometimes, they even stop talking completely, as they figure out talking is unnecessary :D

Well here's what I have right now, I will finish his zampaktou later but heres what I have so far. I will also make the app look a bit prettier as well.

Name: Yorudan Rosu

Appearance:

Age: 348

Race: Shinigami

Rank: Lieutenant of Squad 9

Spiritual Pressure Color: Pure White

Personality: Yorudan is a very stoic man, typically composing himself in the manner of most Buddahist. While it seems that he generally doesn't care for his position as Lieutenant of Squad 9 Yorudan maintains a silent vigil both in and around his barracks. Because he tends to wander from the Squad 9 barracks there is little that happens in the Soul Society that slips by Yorudan's watchful eyes. Since he spends a great deal of time among the people Yorudan has become almost a symbol of hope among those that look up to him since it was he that brought his order into the more populated areas of Rukongai so that the word of his order could fill the Soul Society with hope and healing.

History:
Yorudan was born into a sect of Shaolin Buddhist monks in the middle of the South Rukongai, although due to the secretive nature of his order he never truly revels anything about it. As he has told numerous other Shinigami, he prefers to focus on what and who he is now.

Shinigami Skills:

Hakudo Master- After learning and mastering the martial pratices of the Shaolin order, Yorudan has become widely known for his hand to hand combat skills.

Titan Strength and Endurance- Due to his consistent and brutal training, Yorudan has gained amazing strength and endurance.

Bakudo Expert- While most offensive Kido is lost on him, Yorudan has an extensive knowledge and an even grander skill with Bakudo. While it has not been officially test, he has learned up to 80th level Bakudo spells without an incantation, however the higher the level the less control he has.

Hoho Expert- Yorudan has shown an unusual skill in his speed, which is deceptive due to his muscular build. He is particularly skilled in Utsuemi and the use of the Speed Clones.

Average Kido Practioner- Yorudan has neither great or lacking skill with offensive Kido, although he prefers not to use them.

Zanjitsu Novice- Because of the solom vow he took to never wield a "weapon of death" Yorudan has never truly learned how to wield a sword. However, he has tremendous skill with staffs

Zanpakuto

Name: Tengoku no Chokei (Heaven's Imprisonment)

Type: Kido (specifically Bakudo)

Spirit Appearance:

Inner World: His inner world looks like a pagoda in a sea of clouds

Sealed Appearance:

Shikai Release Command: Shackle, Tengoku

Shikai Appearance:

Shikai Skills: (these refer only to the rings on Yorudan's staff.)

First Ring-Devil's Ensnarement: The first ring of Yorudan's staff directly targets Hollow's and traps them in a ring of reistu. While the Hollow's are trapped they are slowly constricted until they are crushed by the over-whelming spiritual pressure. This ring can trap other beings, but they are simply constricted.

Second Ring-Shield of the Meek: The second ring forms a shield around Yorudan which shields everyone within it, healing minor wounds. It is a weak shield that breaks under a certain amount of stress.

Third Ring-Yolk of Man: The third ring is essentially a stronger version of the first ring, only targeting humanoid creatures. Since most humanoids trapped this way are Shinigami, the ring cannot crush them due their own spiritual pressure
.
Fourth Ring-Silence the Believers: The fourth ring sets a ring around Yorudan which nullifies Kido skills. Everything but Bakudo becomes unusable. The amount Spiritual Pressure it takes begins to put a strain on Yorudan specifically if the other rings are out

Bankai Appearance: Due to the nature of his Zampaktou he already knows the full name of his sword. Once he unlocks all eight rings from his staff he will be able to use his Bankai, as of now he can only release four rings. Once all the rings been released his Bankai looks like his refrence picture.

I have hit an issue, and I'm unsure which way to continue, which is why the character sheet is taking so long. The issue itself is trying to create another Bleach Character that is -not- a blatant rip-off of any of the other bleach characters.

Ugh, I don't even -know- anymore. At first I thought of something that -looks- young but really isn't, but then I realised it was bland and cliché. Next idea was too much like Byakuya, an arrogant, silent sort of person, so that was scrapped. Idea number three was a laid-back lieutenant, but that made me think of Shunsui, and the fourth was more of a Rangiku.

All in all, I'm back at square 1. And I don't even have a -name- for her yet!

EDIT: If there was a way to avoid describing personalities, I'd take that in an -instant-. It's not something I can predefine in a written context; I have to actually roleplay it out until I gain a good concept on my character and adhere to it.

Do you have a favorite skill or have a favorite type of Zampaktou? When I made Yorudan I started with the fact that I wanted to make a Bakudo specialist and built everything else around it.

With the amount of characters bleach has you will be hard pressed to find an utterly unique character, don't worry about it so much. You will be surprised that as long as the Zanapkuto is different the character feels a lot more different than those in the Anime. As far as personality goes make something you would have fun playing and would enjoy. Heck My Captain is like Gin whilst Zume is like Aizen, The Captain commander is....well like the Captain commander.
A nice little spin in their back story is more than enough to make them independent from other characters so instead of pressuring yourself by thinking of something original just try to have fun with it :)

Edit: Write a mini 1-2 paragraph of a scene involving your character :) that might help you form their personality.

Try not to worry about cannon characters. Just focus on what you want. Cannons are long dead anyways, and sometimes similarities to them are good. ^^

You're all wonderful helps, you know.

In terms of a Zanpkuto, and different skill sets...the 'magic' powers in Bleach (Kido etc) always interested me, but alas; I don't know enough about these to effectively manage it. I'm currently reading up on Zanpakuto types now, hoping I can get to a kido blade soon enough. I think my charater should have a natural efficiency with Kido, but I don't want her to be unbalanced and biased towards using it in battle. (Heck, I don't even know if I'm talking about the right thing here - the offensive and defence spells used in Bleach. The ones that make shields, heal wounds, but also melt faces. That kind of thing.)

The short paragraph idea sounds brilliant, and I'll try that as soon as I can figure out what kind of Zanpakuto I want...I will most likely write about performing Jinzen with my Zanpakuto. She (it's a she) will probably be a wise, but arrogant spirit, withholding information from her wielder until she deems her worthy of knowing. A good person (or, well, being) to seek out in times of indecisiveness.

Goken is better looking than Yamamoto.

EDIT: Stich, I updated the OP with a Shinigami Skill section, like I promised, so you can read up on it when you get the change.

EDIT2: *chance, not change. No need for a change.

*Shrugs*I believe it is optional, however it will most likely be used during battles for reference of combat skills. Confirm this Grimm?

Confirmed - the system is optional and used mostly for easier reference during battles and for a neater look of the CS. But other than that, it is not a must.

Well, I achieved a stroke of inspiration - on the toilet.

Now I know what my character's going to be! Now, I was looking through the skills, and I realise that the only thing I -don't- understand as of yet are the equations. However, I'll assign the skills before I get to that point.

Ah, that amazing place that overflows with inspiration :P If you assign the talent points, I can help you out with the equations and just tell you how many skill points you'd have ;)
