Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun, is in a state of war. Chaos has sprung among the clans of old, as villages are razed and the blood of samurai stain the fields. In the wake of destruction, warlords rise up to power to take the chaos head-on, and to usher Japan into an age of peace. However, with the strength of the gods in his hands, Lord Oda Nobunaga, The Demon King, has risen to power in Owari to take Japan as his own...
This Rp is set in the Sengoku Jidai, or Warring States Period of Japan. During this time, there was a large political upheaval that caused the Daimyo's to take matters into there own hands, which in turn caused fighting among the many clans.
~Rules~
1. No Godmodding or anything of such.
2. There will be elements of fantasy in here of course, but let's try to keep it realistic.
3. Romance is allowed, but keep it PG.
4. Violence will be heavy, considering this was the Sengoku Jidai. Be prepared for gruesome stuff when it happens.
5. Swearing is also allowed, but try to keep it to a minimum.
6. Guns were present during this age, but they were muskets. VERY slow to reload weapons. You can have a musket and a flintlock, they even had hand cannons. Remember though, these were only effective in large numbers, so it's best to have a melee weapon after firing a shot.

Very interested. How much fantasy element are we talking here? Just superhuman like skills or enchanted blades and what not?

I might go as far as just superhuman strength(Stronger attacks, enhanced agility, y'know.) and some of the mythological lore of Japan, like Oni and ghost and such.

Name: Hayabusa Jin

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Occupation: Blacksmith

Personality: He is very quiet and reserved. Good humored and personable once you get to know him. He takes honor very seriously and has no problem killing. His face rarely shows emotion. So the few times he is humorous it is taken as serious or sarcasm. He distrusts most people and gaining his trust is difficult to do. He does have a soft spot for animals and believes most are better than people.

Biography: Born into a blacksmithing family, Jin learned the trade quickly and was hailed as a great blacksmith. One day a wandering Samurai rode through town. His horse had thrown a shoe and he was in need of a new one. After re-shoeing the man's horse, the wandering Samurai informed Jin he could not pay. Jin, thinking on his feet asked the samurai if he could teach him how to be a noble warrior. Not having any pressing matters to attend to, the Samurai agreed.
For the next few months Jin learned the art on Kendo and Jujitsu. While learning fighting the Samurai drilled into Jin's head that respect and honor are the most important to a samurai. The day before the mysterious Samurai left, he helped jin forge a katana. Because a warrior is not a warrior without a great weapon.

Weapons: Kendo and Jujitsu and a katana.

Hobbies: Horseback riding and training.

Other: He still searches for the Samurai who trained him.

Occupation:Scraping for a living, but skilled in combat.

Personality: This boy is a humorous fellow, always trying to find the humor in a situation. Whether it be a snarky comment or a bad one liner. However, he uses this to cover up his depression. Using humor, he grows people close to him to help him forget about his melancholy. He'll try to reach out to other using jokes and light moods. But don't mistake this for weakness...

Biography: He was born amongst monks and was raised among them for most of his life, learning the ways of Qi and the flow of life. After an argument of beliefs with his master, he sought out to choose his own destiny. He struggled to make a living after he left and he resides now in Edo doing small jobs and favors around the area. As busy as he is, he still finds the time to practice his combat and some of his old meditation techniques. As time comes to pass, he ponders harnessing his skills to become a true warrior among the Samurai.

Weapons: Dual Sai

Hobbies: Qi meditation, sleeping, and weapons mastering.

Other: Don't touch his blades. Ever.
