"I guess if it's easier we can sleep outside," She said still keeping her attention on the horse. Smiling as he pressed his nose into the palm of her hand. Looking back over at Felix her smiled faded as she saw a tear slip down his cheek. Walking up to him touched his cheek, "Hey are you okay?" She mused wiping the tear away with her thumb. Was it something she had said or done that upset him.

Felix sighed, "Don't worry about me, I'm fine." He looked at Victoria, a slight smile appeared on his face, "I'll keep watch during the night, just make sure we're safe." He placed his hand over hers and removed it from his cheek, "I'll set up a fire." With that he walked to the back of the carriage, pulling out supplies and fire wood. He started building the campfire when suddenly he heard a noise from the trees. Upon hearing the noise he ran over to the young girl and stood in front of her, as a way of shielding her from whatever was out there. Felix's eyes squinted as he surveyed the area, he looked back at Victoria, "I need you to stay close to me, if something... or someone is out there, I don't want you to be by yourself."

Victoria had started to find some blankets that were in a trunk, along with some food. If you could call stale bread, salted meat, and fruit food. Shaking her head she started to set out her things, when Felix was all of a sudden in-front of her, Taking her by surprise her eyes quickly scanned the area. Looking up at Felix as he spoke she nodded. "You..uh..you don't think there's actually anything out there?" She questioned before picking up her things again and moving them over to where he had set up the fire.

Felix surveyed the area, "I can't be sure, but I'll be ready if there is." He looked over at Victoria and smiled slightly, patting her head, "It'll be okay, I'll be here to protect you." He looked around once more, then relaxed a bit, going back to building the fire. When he was done he sat next to the campfire staring into the fiery glow. He thought back to when he was little, when things weren't as bad as they were now. His father use to be nice, his mother would always be there to cheer him up. He sighed, leaning back a little and stared into the sky, watching the falling sun.

Sitting down next to Felix, Victoria cut up some apples and set them on a piece of cloth between them. "The bread isn't worth trying to eat.." She muttered before biting into a piece of fruit. "So I guess it's just fruit and meat for dinner." Shrugging her shoulders she looked over at the knight and raised her brow. "What are you thinking about?" She mused. Taking the flowers she had found earlier, the little village girl set them in her lap and started to braid them together.

He looked over at Victoria as she braided the flowers together and smiled slightly, "Just think about my childhood. Nothing that would be interesting to you though." He looked at the fruit between them and silently sighed to himself, he wasn't hungry. Still being on edge from the noise from earlier and thinking about his mom somehow made him lose his appetite. He slightly glanced at the girl and then looked back up into the sky, "What's your family like? I mean I know I've meet them, but I didn't really get to know them."

"My family? Oh they aren't anything special. My mother and father where always pretty kind people, my mom sort of balanced out my dad. Dad would always be hot headed, fly off the handle at the drop of a hat. Then in would swoop mom to calm him down, just her voice could calm the seas if it could." Victoria said with a soft smile. Her eyes drifted up toward the sky as she laced the flowers together, she could do it without even thinking about at this point. Having made so many as a child, and when her mother had passed, the grave was covered in them. "Then there's my brothers, a strange bunch they are. The two oldest are twins, only ones in the family, and then the middle he's the most protective of me." She said thinking about them, "The twins are Jacob and Jaron, and then the middle is Xaiver." Victoria looked back at Felix as a few tears slipped down her cheeks. "You know, I wasn't even supposed to be born. My family wasn't expecting me, and when I was born, oh god how happy my mother was." The girl sniffed wiping at a few tears on her cheek.
Shaking her head she sighed. "My family isn't anything special. Just a crazy bunch of people that I love.." She said sighing. "What about yours?"

Felix smiled as Victoria told him about her family, "Well, I think it takes a special kind of family to be so loving." When she asked him about his family, his face was cloaked in sadness. "I don't know if I can really say I have a family anymore." He paused as his expression turned to one of pain, "When my mother died... My father, sort of, lost it. He became a loud and abusive drunk, he became obsessed with the thought of me becoming a knight. Nothing would stop him from seeing his "useless, worthless, and weak" son become a great, powerful knight." He chuckled weakly, "You can see how that turned out." He took a moment to blink away the tears that were welling up inside his eyes, "After I joined the legion, my father seemed to disappear from my life. I would see him occasionally, but it was never to say hi..... It was usually me throwing him in jail." he sighed, "At least your family stuck together."

The look on Victoria's saddened when he spoke about his family. "I'm so sorry about your father...and what you had to go through." She said looking up at him. "My family promised my mother to that we wouldn't break apart she passed." Victoria said as she laced another flower into the braid. "You know, when we get back...if..if you ever need like a family. Well a family atmosphere to be around. You're more then welcome to come to my home." She said looking at her hands. "We may not be much, and we may argue a whole lot. But, we're are a family and more then willing to help out someone in need." Victoria said before reaching a hand up to press against his cheek. "You won't have to be alone anymore...you know that is if that's what you want."

Felix looked at Victoria, "You wouldn't have to do that for me, I mean, I would just get in the way." He blushed, smiling slightly as her hand pressed onto his cheek. A tear fell down his face, "I would want nothing more than to have some sort of family and to not be alone..... but, I've had a broken family for so long...... I don't know how to really be apart of one." He place a hand over her hand that was on his cheek, "I don't want to burden you with my problems." Felix looked towards the floor, adverting his eyes from the young girl.

"You're tad late for that." She said using her thumb to wipe away his tear. Smiling softly Victoria pulled her hand back, "We're going to be together for two months, who knows maybe longer. You're not going to be alone anymore Felix." She said smiling at him. Watching as he turned his head the peasant girl picked up a stray flower. Sitting up on her knees she moved over closer to the knight and placed the flower behind his ear. "There.." She said with a satisfied smile. "Now, let's get some rest huh? I imagine you'd want to be out of here early in the morning."

He smiled at her as she place the flower behind his ear and chuckled silently, "Yeah, we will need to be back on the road as soon as possible." Then he heard a noise, like footsteps running through the forest. Felix turned around and looked for the source of the noise, then suddenly an arrow shot just inches from his face, and hitting the side of a tree. The young knight flinched and as he looked to where the arrow came from, a nasty looking, brute of a man appeared through the trees. The man smiled, showing his grotesque and deformed teeth.
"Well look what we have here," The man's voice was deep and scratchy, "Are you poor little ones lost?" A smile stretched across the hideous man's face.
"Victoria, stay behind me." Felix stands up, grabbing his sword and shield and holding then, ready to swing at any moment.

Victoria spun around seeing a man appearing from the shadows. When Felix spoke she didn't have to be told twice to move. Slipping behind the knight she watched as the man smiled at the pair. "No we aren't lost. Just..just leave us alone." Victoria stated, her voice shaking as she clung to Felix's back. The girl jumped when another voice from behind them broke through the darkness. "Oh come now little ones, you can't lead us to believe you're here out here unguarded." Another thinner man slinked up behind the knight and the peasant girl. His voice dripping with venom, he smiled a broken grin and his fingers twitched at a blade on his hip.
"What are you doing out here?" He asked.

Felix turned to see a skinnier man slowly appear as well, "Damn," he cursed under his breath, eyes shooting back and forth between the two men. "Look guys, we don't want any trouble. We are just on our way to a near by kingdom. Just leave us alone okay?" The big brute laughed, baring his grotesque teeth and inching closer.
"Hey now mister "hero", we don't want to make this any harder then it has to be. Just hand over the girl and this will be over quickly and smoothly."
"What? No, I would never do that." The young knight moves closer to Victoria, his hands gripping his weapon and shield tighter.
"I guess we're going to have to do this the hard way." The brute nodded at the skinnier man and they both started to advance towards the two.

Victoria watched as Felix spoke with the men, before her own eyes went wide then they said what they had wanted. "Me? Why do you want me?" She questioned, not really getting an answer before they started to move toward them. Biting on her lip she looked around them trying to find something she could use to try an defend herself with. When one of the men went to strike at Felix she let out a scream, she didn't necessarily know how this would help, but maybe it could distract them long enough for Felix to get in a swing.

Everything happened so fast, Felix barely had time to react. One of the men swung at him, causing Victoria to let out a high pitched scream. As the man swung, Felix ducked and pulled the peasant girl to the ground, "Stay down." He spoke in a determined and firm voice. Then the knight stood and slammed his shield into the burly ones face, launching him to the ground. The skinny one attacked the boys feet, but Felix jumped just in time as he threw out his leg, kicking the man in the face. The young boy used the time it took the men to stand up, to process what was happening and to clear his mind. The skinny man jumped for another strike, but Felix turned ramming the edge of his shield into his throat, easily snapping the mans neck. The knight turned to the other one and stood ready to strike. The man ran towards the boy slashing at him and without warning Felix dodged, stabbing his sword into the mans heart. The burly mongrel fell to the floor, both men lay dead on the floor. Felix slowly and wearily walked over to Victoria, kneeling down and placing a hand on her shoulder, "Y...You okay?" His voice was quite and strained.
