With her one hand she held the skin flat on her lap, and with two fingers of her other hand she scooped up some of the mixture. Slowly, and very carefully, she applied the thick consitensy onto his wing. Her tiny fingers did a proper job at not putting too much pressure onto the ripped skin. "How's that?" She whispered, looking up at his eyes.

Makan hissed at first, but gave in. It felt nice, the painkillers in the salve, the gentle way she massaged it into the membrane. He wouldn't admit it, but the girl applied it better than he did. He nodded appreciatively. "Thank you," he said quietly. "It feels nice." He sighed, closing his eyes. "Can you sing for me?"

"S-Sing? I don't know many songs though.." As she worked her way up to the slightly less damaged skin, she kept carressing his scales with her other free hand. "Sure, how about an old folk song my father used to sing for me?" Elisa sat up a little, and leaned against his stomach with her side.

"Far over the Misty Mountains rise
Leave us standing upon the height
What was before we see once more
Is our kingdom a distant light

Fiery mountain beneath the moon
The words unspoken, we'll be there soon
For home a song that echoes on
And all who find us will know the tune

Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven't seen the back of us yet
We'll fight as long as we live

All eyes on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain born
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long forgotten gold

We lay under the Misty Mountains cold
In slumbers deep, and dreams of gold
We must awake, our lives to make
And in the darkness a torch we hold

From long ago when lanterns burned
Until this day our hearts have yearned
Her fate unknown, the Arkenstone
What was stolen must be returned

We must awake and make the day
To find a song for heart and soul

Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven't seen the end of it yet
We'll fight as long as we live

All eyes on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain born
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Till we get our long forgotten gold

Far away the Misty Mountain's cold."

Her voice echoed through the cave, and everything seemed to quiet. As if every busy bee on the island held its breath to listen to the song. Her eyes blushed bright red and did not look at him for a while when the song had ended.

But Elisa's voice had soothed him to sleep. He snored softly, his sides rising and falling evenly. He thought her voice was beautiful, and it reminded him of how his mother sang. Makan curled his tail around Elisa, not squeezing, just holding her to his side. He didn't mean to, but his tail seemed to have a mind of its own when he slept.

The soft embrace of his tail made her smile a bit. Elisa laid down his wing, so the mixture could dry up. With both of her arms, she held the tail close to her and actuallh tried to snuggle up against his stomach. The warmth he gave off was lovely: not too hot nor too cold. She let her head lean against him and closed her eyes as well. "Never thought I'd be cuddling with a dragon. But I quite like it.." she said to herself.

Makan slept for several hours. When he came to, he found Elisa tucked under his wing. She was cuddled up to his stomach, against the softer scales of his belly. At first he considered moving, covering her with a fur. However he stayed still, breathing slowly, evenly. He looked under his wing at Elisa.

Once Elisa woke up, Makan was still there, and keeping the embrace going. Slightly confused he was still there, she tried to look up a little without moving. "Makan..?" It seemed like she had slept a few hours, but he may be still sleeping too. "Are you awake?"

"Aye," Makan answered. He shifted so Elisa was out from under his wing. "I didn't want to wake you up. I figured that was the longest rest you've had since..." He trailed off, not wanting to bring it up again. He shook his head and left the nest, going over to the spring of cool water and drinking deeply. It was a welcome sensation, but his wing still ached.

"Yes, I know what you mean.." Elisa got up from the next and brushed her dress down. It had a few specks of dust on it. "Makan can I ask you a question?" Elisa lifted herself out of the nest and slowly walked over to the dragon. "How old are you exactly? And.. Have you ever had a human friend?" The word 'friend' she pronounced very slow and with a different intonation like all the others. As if she meant something by it.

"I was born two hundred and forty years ago," Makan answered. "In human terms, I am just leaving my teenage years behind me." When Elisa asked about a human friend, he paused. "Once. He was an old man, and he taught me so much about humans, the good, the bad. He was wise, and I learned so much from him and my parents." His voice and expression seemed distant... sad.

When he said he learned alot about his parents she frowned slightly. "Parents? Aren't they dragons just like you?" Elisa stood there, staring at him. "Haven't you ever wondered how it must be to be human? So tiny and fragile?" He was alot bigger than she was, so if he was tired of her questions he could just squash her, if he felt like it. The thought made her shiver. It was true, she felt nothing compared to him. Alot of people throught they were mighty and strong, and they could conquer just about anything in their path. But they were wrong. Very wrong.

"They are," Makan said. When she brought up being human, he chuckled. "I have been human, if for short periods of time. All dragons can use magic. Some can sing wood or stone into art; others can read minds; and still others can see the future. I myself can shapeshift, something that has come in handy obtaining my collection. But as of late, I haven't been out as a human."

For a moment there Elisa looked up in a surprise. "Are you kidding me?" With a cheer she walked over to him, laying both of her arms on the side of his neck, feeling rather tiny again. "You have to show me! I would love to meet the human Makan!" Her eyes were flickering and she did not bother hiding how excited she was.

Makan blushed. "Y-You would?" he asked. He grabbed a bag from behind his nest, opening it to reveal a set of men's clothes. With a soft incantation, Makan's body began shrinking, morphing until he was a human. He dressed quickly. "Um... how am I? How do I look?"

Makan blushed and making her blush as well. Was it an odd question to ask him for his human form? The whole situation of her being here with a dragon that could transform into anything was weird in the first place. "Yes!" She said then, excitingly. When his body then finally transformerd, Elisa stared at him. It was a weird sight, seeing his enormous body shrinking like that. When he stood there, bare naked, quickly lathering up some clothes, Elisa's mouth fell open. He was not old, as she immagined. He was young, maybe as young as she was. His skin was quite pale and his eyes were a beautiful purple. It made her bite her lower lip. "You look.. Different than imagined." She mumbled softly, quite in shock.

"Dragons age differently than humans," Makan said. "Dogs age seven years for one human year. Dragons age one year for every decade." He quickly dressed. "We are one of two immortal races, lest we be killed by blade or illness. The other are the elves, the Fair Folk. However, I have not detected an elf for almost three years. Perhaps they took their fleets and sailed west..."
