The trick is, you're not supposed to get that invested in a single game save. I'm super glad that I didn't ruin any of my subsequent Minecraft games after resetting my first epic single player world because of an update. Thank god the Xbox didn't allow you to do that. And the PC doesn't want you to do that either, really. There's a reason you're not typically allowed to do that. There's a reason that most every game ever doesn't let you keep the items from your previous game.I could understand if it was single player Minecraft, but it's not. What's the point of multiplayer if you're not on an even playing field with everyone else?Mega long-term survival is an incredibly niche interest. Some people enjoy the idea of crafting cities with things they've gotten from endless hours of survival. It's more of an exercise in tedium than it is a challenge. In my mind, the absolute funnest part of Minecraft is building yourself anew and working with the limited resources you have. Of course the drive behind this is to one day have everything you could ever need, but after you get to that point the challenging part is over. You're maxed out. Sure, you can get more things, but there really isn't a point. Minecraft not having an ending is an illusion for me. It's fun to work towards the idea of accomplishing every single thing and building an entire world, until it isn't anymore. And the best part about Minecraft multiplayer is seeing who's done what, and who can get the coolest things first. I don't want to play in a game where everything has already been accomplished ... tenfold. And I'm probably not going to after hearing that people are keeping absolutely everything. I'm not in it for the decade stretch. Thanks but no thanks.
Well that's all fine, but like you said it's your personal preference. Not everyone feels that way. I get invested in stuff. Also, I haven't accomplished nearly half of what I wanted to. I probably would have worked on more if I didn't feel a reset had been possible/close to happening, which it has been the last month.
Also keep this in mind: there wasn't supposed to be a reset. Giygas didn't particularly want to, and many people came out against it. The only reason we decided on it was because the world got too big. For the next map there will probably be a world border.
And we are on an even playing field, there's no reason to say otherwise. We've all (except a few people like Teamtr/Robeatics) had the same amount of time to get shit done. Keep in mind, I didn't even really play for the first 3 or so weeks the server was up.
Was hoping to see you on and see what you might build after the reset, but it's understandable given your particular preference for the game.
