Long ago, when the Ancient One was still young, he summoned forth the two great pillars of our harmony: Dialga, the Master of Time, and Palkia, the Ruler of Space. Together, these two beings worked not in rivalry as they do today, but in harmony, maintaining the order of our kind. As the beings Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf granted us the pieces of our souls - knowledge, spirit, and willpower - our world was created, and for a time, all was peaceful and of Light.
But of course, where there is Light, there is also Darkness; and the Darkness found form in a name forbidden in our time: Giratina. This dragon, a being with more power than even the two pillars combined, grew jealous of his brothers' positions of power and respect, for many would praise and be thankful for the efforts of the two pillars. Yet Giratina, who stood as the Guardian of Shadow, was oft whispered as a demon and a monster. It was his most sacred duty, you see, to protect our world from the Darkness that threatens us. Indeed, it is no exaggeration to say that his was the most important of all the brothers' duties, yet to protect one from the darkness, one must constantly expose himself to that very darkness. In defending our people from Darkness, Giratina’s heart was slowly corrupted by that very Darkness. He began to be despised and feared by our ancestors, who foolishly and in ignorance could not see the sacred duty and noble sacrifice that once worthy dragon made. Soon, the Darkness began to whisper to Giratina, bringing forth his hidden jealousy and slowly turn it into rage. The two pillars, Dialga and Palkia, began to see this change within their brother and grew concerned for him, but even they were not immune to the intoxication of the limelight; their worship turned their ears from him, and as Giratina fell, there was no one there to see him. And fall he did.
The day began as simple as any other: the sun rose, the grass grew, and Pokémon rose from their tired slumber. Suddenly, the sun became dark, and though the sky was clear, the stars refused to shine. Giratina arose from the shadows, the very Darkness he had sworn to protect us from now coursing through and granting him power. His once glorious form had become twisted and corrupt, and on his arrival, the world itself began to shudder. Forests withered, plains became deserts, oceans slowly started to dry, and the Pokémon… The Pokémon were the worst of victims. Those who came near Giratina were soon corrupted by his great power, abandoning their morals and joining with him as a growing army of darkness. Friends turned against each other as brother struck down brother. The world itself was being transformed into a world of utter darkness, and all who rose against Giratina were quickly struck down… or worse.
At last, the two pillars could no longer turn a blind eye. Their worship and limelight had died out long ago, giving way to fear and some contempt; after all, how could the two great pillars allow such a horror to happen? Unable to believe what had happened, the two of them raced down to stop their former brother. United, they were able to halt his dark advances. Finally, the dark one himself came to bring them down. They were no match for him, and they knew it. But, with their combined might, they were able to reunite the now-shattered lands into one mighty army, one that could even challenge the dark forces that now threatened the world. The war that followed was short, but terrible. Why, even today the land is scarred by the markings of battle that ensued in that era. However, at the end of this war, the blight Giratina did finally show himself against his former brothers. They did not seek to hold council with him; perhaps they believed him to already be lost. On his own part, Giratina gave them no signs of guilt or repentance; he had embraced his new dark identity, and he had no interest in releasing himself from it. Without a word, the three of them attacked, and without a word, the battle soon was over. Yet, the effects from that battle can be felt to this day, and likely will be felt for many more days onward. Giratina was defeated that day, but even the might of the two great pillars could not truly bring him down.
You see, Giratina had been stronger than the two of them even before he had acquired his new dark power. Now, he was nearly unstoppable. Only together could Dialga and Palkia stand any chance against him, but even together, they knew they could not defeat him. So, they did not try to defeat him, but instead held him off while using their great power to form a new and terrible realm for him: a realm we call the Reverse World. It is a world of no laws like our own: up may soon be down, and left may soon be forward. In this confusing maze, the dragons formed their brother’s prison, taking a moment’s advantage to thrust him into the darkness he was now so fond of. Sealing the door behind him, they thought that, at long last, their bloody war was over.
Alas, this was not meant to be, for Darkness will always exist so long as Light is shining. With Giratina’s final act, the brothers had been torn apart, seeing only an enemy where once an ally had stood. As soon as Darkness was sealed in the Reverse World, each of them turned to look upon the other with newfound rage that crept into their hearts; Giratina’s fell influence had taken its root inside the two of them. Now the two of them sought to destroy each other, and it was only by the heartfelt pleas of the Pokémon down below them that the two agreed to separate and leave the world to recover. Dialga used his Roar of Time to bring the world back as best he could. While most of the world was recovered, there are places still today where no life is able to grow. Palkia, for his part, used his Spatial Rend to repair the sundered world back into a conceivable whole, yet even here the scars of Darkness prevented his full action. Satisfied that their work was at best, the two departed to their own lands away from each other: Dialga standing at the Apex of Time, and Palkia hidden within the Edge of Space. The three great spirits – Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf – had been unable to act in the constant fear of darkness, but now used what powers they possessed to turn the dark forces back to their original selves. Once again, though those that remembered knew it as a hard-won time, peace could reign again for the time it was allotted. But all remain ever alert for the coming return of Darkness, for even today, there are those who still followed the blackened laws of Giratina the Dark One.

I had this idea when attempting to write a 1x1 RP, and I realized that this would be so much more fun with multiple people. Our story begins in a small Exploration Guild located in the town of Poplus. Life was peaceful for a time, but now there are small signs that darkness is slowly returning to the world of Pokemon: cruel renegades that attack other Pokemon, natural disasters that don't seem natural at all, and worst of all, stars are actually winking out one by one in the night sky. We, as a brave Exploration Guild, begin to investigate these strange occurrences, only to stumble into our most dangerous adventure ever! And this time, the fate of the entire world may be at stake!
Okay, here's the technical stuff.
Rules:
- Currently looking for 5-6 players. As the RP grows, more may be added.
- No Legendary characters.
-
No smut, swearing, sex, or anything else like that. This is a Pokemon RP; I prefer it stay PG.
- I will be playing the Guild Master, so no, you cannot be Guild Master.
- Don't be a jerk.
- If you haven't played Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon before, I highly recommend you look up a synopsis.
Now for the fun stuff:
- Any Pokemon from Kanto to Kalos (other than Legendaries) can be used, including evolutions.
- You cannot be Guild Master, but you
can be an independent Pokemon, if you so desire. If you are, you'll simply work alongside the Guild.
- Evolution will be possible here, so choosing a first form will not force you to remain one.
Once I get enough interest, I'll set up an official OOC. Looking forward to RPing with everybody!
