why has this turned into such a big debate? this is supposed to be a fun fight and honestly i'm tired of trying to argue my point on this. and it's not that i ran out of things to say, i'm just over the debating that came out of this, we've spent over 24 hours now on this and all we've really done is discuss the effects of two non-existent things on another non-existent thing and an existing thing with only the two main people debating really knowing much about the three non-existent things and their properties.

in short i'm giving up this argument. take that how you will, i honestly don't care if you think badly of me or think i'm just quitting cos i didn't get my way.

I apologize if my last response came off as annoyed or frustrated or something like that, I was a little rushed when I wrote it and I didn't mean it that way.

That said, the entire point of this is to pit one non-existent thing against another non-existent thing, so debating the finer points of non-existent things should pretty well be expected. I've also been a little... Surprised, at your seeming attempts to use the ambiguity of your CS as an excuse to powergame. You haven't actually done it IC, but your posts in the OOC seem to be headed in that direction. Being the GM, this is ultimately your thread so what you say goes, but if you start using the ambiguity of your CS in such a manner you shouldn't be surprised when others follow suit.

As to the nanofibers, they actually get filled with an electrically responsive substance that then allows them to expand or contract depending on the amount of current running through them. If I understand that correctly, at least.

And I still think that he'd be weak to stabbing, and less so if the muscles are contracted. And for arguments sake, I still think that the net should at the very least slow him down as opposed to outright paralysis: it doesn't fully work with this guy's nervous system. but seeing as it's details weren't really in the CS, you can't have it have no effect.. So I still say a slowing would be best :|

Depending on how the fibers are arranged and the angle and size of the blade, he could definitely be weaker against stabbing or slashing attacks. Anything that goes with the grain would be able to penetrate easier than anything going against it, but if there's several layers woven in a lattice-work pattern on top of the actual muscle fibers it would more or less become a moot point, since the fibers would be interwoven and at right angles to each other, making it impossible to slash/stab along the grain.

Since he didn't specify the use of a lattice pattern in the body's construction, it is assumed that no such layer exists and the body merely has the muscle fibers covered by his armor plating.

As to the effect of the net, I would also say that it would weaken/slow him, but that's because of my own theories on magic and how it works in relation to the observable universe.

Well me and Schadinger seem to have come to the consensus that it would slow your guys motor functions. And that he is much more susceptible to stabs.

Its neither of our decisions though. Thats up to you two.

Hey guys, is a being made out of pure fire okay?

It wouldn't be defeated by a bucket of water or a sprinkler or something like that, you'd need LOTS of concentrated water. Like a Blastoise water cannon.

It'd be able to fly, as well.

Agreed. If water is their only weakness, then that is kind of overpowered... Especially if they can fly, because then they can avoid any water thrown at them.

Teo did before I vaporized him, but other than that, no. And even if he was still around, all you'd have to do is take him out and the rest of us would be screwed. Any character in this kind of fight needs to be susceptible to something that the majority of characters have access to.

I reckon in a fight like this, they need to be susceptible to physical damage. And unless it's justified, they should only really have a strong resistance to it if they're a melee fighter.

You could make it so that they are like the human torch, where they are on fire, but has a physical base. So hitting them would burn them, but it would do real damage to the flame guy.

Okay, I'll change it to that.

However, the flames are hot enough to melt steel, so trying to shoot it with some kind of bullet would fail and trying to hit it with a steel sword or something would fail, or at least, the sword would be practically unusable after.

Dude.. Thats kind of missing the point.

How about when he blocks a specific strike it can melt steel, but that takes energy to keep up that sort of heat. Otherwise he just isn't susceptible to physical damage!

That's 2,500 degrees fahrenheit. Anyone without superhuman resistance to heat is going to get burned/boiled alive before they even make it close enough to hit him with their sword, so whether or not the sword will do damage is a moot point. Even Arty, who DOES have a superhuman resistance to heat, would be hard-pressed to stay in melee range for more than a few posts without getting burned. And that's just staying in range, without any attempts to attack made by your character.

In a high-tier fight, that would be fine, but for the level of fighters involved here, having a character so hot they can passively melt steel when it gets close to them is a no-go.

I don't remember radioactive corrosion being listed as a trait of those bullets...
