"Jesus!" Caroline exclaimed jumping from her seat at the fire and taking multiple shuffled steps back wards. The hideous creature before her was not moving - it was simply staring at the group without making a single action. Slowly, Caroline felt around for the knife she had in her back pocket. Of course, with her luck, it wasn't there and was most likely in her bag. "Nobody move," she muttered under her breath.

Gretchen gasped, pulling out her pocket knife and pointing it directly at the giant insect. Her hand was shaking like a leaf. "Oh my god..."

Ana jumped back about ten feet and fell over into her tent, knocking it flat. The creature stood some distance off but was no less frightening than if it had been just inches from her. Ana grabbed one of the tent posts and charged at the creature, screaming for it to back away. It simply reached out and grabbed her leg. She fell to the ground and cried in pain as it turned around and dragged her into the woods. within seconds, she could no longer see the campfire or the terrified faces of the campers. That didn't keep he from screaming though.

" Oh my God!! What the Hell was that!!!" Ben yelled not believing what had just happened. Ben was terrified he could feel it in his bones and his mind was in frozen thinking about the thing that had just dragged away a friend." We...got to...Help her!" He said with a little hesitation.

Gretchen's face paled and she screamed shrilly. "Aaaaah! Ana!" She tried to compose herself and turned to the others, face paled. "Quick! We have to save her! She's in danger for as long as she's with that... THING!"

Ana was dragged, screaming, for about ten minutes before she just couldn't continue. She decided at this point she needed to conserve her energy and try to think of ways to break free. Her mind was still racing and in a fuzz of confusion and fear. The rational part of her kept telling her she needed to relax and think. After a few moments, she was capable of thinking. She remembered the pocket knife she had. She managed to get her hand into her pocket and fish it out. She flicked it open and stabbed the creature where it held onto her. It shrieked in a combination of pain and confusion, but it let go.

Ana took advantage of this and scrambled to her feet. She started running as fast as she could, paying no attention to what direction she was going in. She was purely focused on running. She didn't even see it. It's almost like it had a mind of its own. WHACK! She hit her head on a low branch and it launched her back a few feet right into the creature. Nasty, slimy arm-like things engulfed her as everything faded to black.

'I can't pass out... I have to escape.......' she thought as her eyes closed themselves and her mind detached itself from reality. The knife slipped out of her hand as the creature continued to drag her away.

Caroline watched in horror and disbelief as Ana was dragged away by that hideous monster. She couldn't believe her eyes. She had never seen anything like it, and while the others were wanting to save her, her selfish instincts kicked in and she found herself wanting to just flee. But she couldn't,could she? Not if she didn't want these campers to know who she really was.

"We can't just blindly hunt that thing down," Caroline began, surprisingly calm with her tone of voice. "If we do end up tracking it down we need to be prepared."

Gretchen nodded calmly. "Yeah. I have my pocket knife.... what other things do we have? Any fire? Just knives? Bugs hate heat..."

" it doesn't look like any bugs I have seen!" Ben yelled still looking over his shoulder just incase it came back for them." We need gun to kill it or maybe we should call the police!" Ben said trying to keep his calm but failed.

"Just hold on. We can handle this," Carline tried to sooth Ben. Sure it was traumatic, but she wasn't even sure if she could accept it as being real. She was just working with what she had, in case this wasn't a dream.

She then turned to Gretchen. "I have a hand gun in the glove compartment of my car and I have a blade," she told her. However she wasn't sure if either of those would have any sort of effect on the monster. "We can make a torch. All we need is a thick piece of wood, rope, and some gasoline."

" Lets go get that pistol then." Ben said "Me and Gretchen will hold down the fort while you go...don't be long though." He said looking over his shoulder again.

Gretchen turned to Ben. "We should making torches... or at least some sort of weaponry to kill this thing... don't really know how to kill or even hurt something this huge.... it puzzles me...."

Quickly, Caroline paced back to her car. She wondered why no one had suggested just leaving. Of course they all had an unspoken duty of care for Ana but why was no one eager to jump in their cars and get the hell out of there? This puzzled Caroline as she retrieved her revolver from her glove compartment and promptly locked the door. It was then she remembered she had extra jugs of gas in her trunk. This would be helpful for the torches.

She hurried back to the others with her gun and the jug of gas, resting it down on the ground when she returned to Ben and Gretchen. "I had this extra jug of gas we can use for the torch," she told them.

" Thank God your back! We should start to find Ana before it gets her!" Ben said to the group fearing the worst.

Ana woke up in complete darkness. She blinked a couple of times and tried to remember where she was and what had happened. She turned her head to look around her and almost threw up. A sharp pain shot from the back of her head down her spine and to the front of her head. She groaned. She tried to lift her hand to hold her head but it was restrained. Restrained? Why was this happening? After a few moments, she realized she wasn't being restrained. She just didn't have any arms. 'Arms? what even are ARMS?' Ana thought groggily. There was a slight twitch on her leg. A bug maybe? No. It was a finger. Her own finger? Yes. So she DID have arms. and they were still attached! But why couldn't she feel them.

Ana's eyes had adjusted to the darkness by now. She could see fine holes in her arms. There was a little blood, but not enough to be a serious wound. She tried to pick up her arm again, but to no avail. Her finger twitched again though. Alright. that was progress, wasn't it?

As time passed, Ana's eyes were adjusting more and more. Before she knew it, she was seeing colors again. Was it day again and it had just been night this whole time? Then there was a weird rapid ticking sound. A sound like that annoying kid who used to tap his pencil against his desk during a test. Only there were hundreds of that kid. It remained at an even volume and began getting on Ana's nerves.

"Hey! Cutitout!" Her words were slurred. She moved her jaw. She couldn't feel that either. what else couldn't she feel? She told her foot to move. Thankfully it did. Okay. The feet worked. How about the rest of the leg? She used both legs to push her up against the wall. They worked fine. She kept pushing until she could stand on her own without having to lean on the wall for support. Her blood rushed into place and almost threw her off balance again, but she regained stability.

Suddenly, the tapping was much louder. Ana was seriously getting pissed now. She looked around for the source of the noise but couldn't find it. A bug landed on her forehead and she shook her head to knock it off. It flew a few inches from her face.

"Well, hello there little guy." She said as if the bug would understand her. It bobbed a little. And then it had a friend. "Oh! there are two of you!" She smiled a little. "How nice." Then there were five. Ten. Fifteen. Before she knew it, they were all over the place. The tapping was unbearable . She finally discovered the source. The tapping was coming from a million bug feet pattering on the various surfaces of the cave. She could see clearly that it was a cave now as the bugs had an odd green glow to them.

Suddenly, they began to gather in the center of the cave floor. They seemed to be leaving from a small hole in the floor... wait. No. They were condensing somehow. They were becoming one. One giant bug.

Ana tried to scream, but she couldn't find her voice. She collapsed onto the cave floor, totally helpless.

The group started to remake there way into the dark woods for a rescue mission however they were worried and wondered if they would ever come back.

"Hold on," Caroline remarked, grabbing Ben's arm. They were proceeding too rashly. All they had were flash lights, a knife or two, and Caroline's gun. She had the gasoline for a torch and it would be easy to find a thick piece of wood. All they needed was a little bit of rope to soak in the gasoline. "Do we have any rope for the torch?"

"Yeah I have a little." Ben said handing over about five feet of rope to her. He hopes that this beast would be killed and that Ana was okay from that thing.

"Alright," Caroline started as she took the rope from Ben. She cut off an appropriate amount then wrapped it around the end of a large and thick stick on the ground near them. Once it was tightly secured, she dunked it in the jug if gasoline, then using her lighter to set the torch ablaze. Feeling a tad proud of herself she presented it to the others. "Let us proceed."
