It's the year 401 of the third Era, the Emperor Uriel Septim VII has achieved the unity of Tamriel and the empire seems at peace. However, not everything feels right, a secret organization has been rising to power within the shadows of the Illiac bay and they have been linked to plots of treason, murder and conspiracies. It is completely unknown who these people are and what are their plans, they are extended throughout all the Illiac bay, they could be peasants preparing for a rebellion or nobles looking for a diversion and hungry of power, but any attempt at infiltrating the organization, code named "Maelstrom" or even getting any information has been useless, as any agent sent by the emperor always ends up death when their background hints at a connection with the empire.

That's why the Aureus Anchor was formed, a secret organization created to counter another secret organization. A series of champions with no knowledge of each other or relationships with the empire that had been chosen to investigate the matter and, if necessary, to end the Maelstrom. These champions are only recognized by a lapel pin that shows a crest that has the form of a crowned anchor that is only shared among the members of this order, nobody else can know about their existence. While the fate of the stability of the Iliac bay may rest in these people, it is unsure if they will be capable of fulfilling such duty

--Character sheet--
-Name:
-Age: (lowest 20)
-Sex:
-Race: (All the races in Skyrim are permitted except orcs, since they are at war with the provinces of High Rock at the moment for independence)
-Class: (Choose one from here. This will have impact in the characterization of your CS as something you might be recognized for. You do not need to pay much attention to the skills, traits and equipment, since this rp is not going to be heavily focused in combat and is going to be more focused in character interactions and events. With that said, pick a class that you would find fun more than one that would work better in combat)
-Skills: (if your character is a magician, name what spells does he has and what do they do, limited to a maximum of 5 low level spells at the beginning and eventually getting more. Put the weapon specialization of your character, how he fights and other things such as climbing or swimming. ) (The skill limit is three primary skills and three secondary skills. They do not be specifically the ones of your class, but they must fit your class, because being a warrior without weapon skill is stupid.)
-Equipment: (physical equipment, weapons, clothing, armor and some items. Nothing better than steel in the beginning)
-Background: (Some messenger of the Aureus Anchor has contacted you to go to the Iliac bay in the name of the emperor, write the reason of why they would need your abilities. Previous to that, everything is up to you, but I would suggest nothing too dark)
-Where are you: (The Illiac bay consist of 44 provinces. Tell where do you start and how did you arrive there, or maybe you were already living in that province)

I'm reserving this spot for my imperial. She suffers from a degenerative disease called Cliche - her parents aready have died afflicted with this disease. Anyway, my character may be bard, rogue or nightblade. If someone want a background together, I'm open to cooperation.

I imagine that since we work for the empire, assassins are "agents" more than bloodthirsty killer?

Name: Ajax-Vei
Aliases: Chases-the-Horizon, Ocean-Scales, Walks-the-Shore, Scouts-Darkest-Depths (Current)
Age: 32
Sex: Male
Race: Argonian
Class: Bard
Skills
  • Racial Abilities: Claws and Tail, Histskin, Waterbreathing
  • Primary Skills: Dodging, Lockpicking, Long Blade
  • Secondary Skills: Climbing, Mercantile, Stealth
  • Spell List: See Equipment
  • Combat Style: Tsaesci Martial Arts. The dual-bladed combat style used by the vampiric man-serpents of Akavir. As stated by the Tsaesci Potentiate in the First Era to Emperor Reman Cyrodiil III: "We don't have shields in our culture. In our country, if you don't want to get hit, you move out of the way.” It is a style that places agility and skill to protect oneself over armor and shields. Traditionally, it has many flashy, acrobatic techniques, and takes full advantage of everything the practitioner has at his disposal, not the very least being that they have a tail and their enemies tend not to.

Ajax-Vei, having learned the style from a series of old documents in ruins hidden deep within Tamriel, has modified it slightly to suit his purposes better. He's stripped away or altered many unnecessarily showy techniques, and combined the style with combat doctrines gleaned from Argonian culture and his battles as a pirate - such as the use of guerrilla tactics and underwater combat, light armor, and sabres instead of katanas - as well as magic via the use of scrolls and enchanted objects found during his travels to 'bring the boom', both literally and metaphorically. In short, it could be said that he took a style well-suited to his race, haphazardly mashed together various loosely-related concepts, and come out of it with something that works surprisingly well.
Equipment
  • Weapons: Dual Steel Sabres, 5 Scrolls (1 Dispel Magic, 2 Fire Damage, 1 Shock Damage, 1 Tongues)
  • Armor: College Robes; Leather Pauldrons, Vambraces, and Boots; Cloak
  • Miscellaneous: Lockpicks, Money, Torches
Background: A pirate, a master of the Akaviri martial arts, a treasure hunter, a historian, an archaeologist, and a scholar of ancient knowledge - Ajax-Vei, currently known under the name 'Scouts-Darkest-Depths', has accomplished many things and experienced so much in his relatively short time on Nirn.

Like most Saxhleel he born in the swamps of the Black Marsh, on the 7th of the Evening Star. From a young age, Ajax-Vei had aspirations of becoming something greater than he was, of living a grand life full of riches and adventure around every corner. However, not everyone thought that this line of thought was a very good one, and they began calling him 'Chases-the-Horizon'. Originally it was a way to mock his so-called 'pipe-dream', an endless pursuit of something impossible to reach, but it soon caught on and became a name Ajax-Vei took pride in. His time in the Black Marsh ended when he set off alone from home into the wilds to sate his wanderlust, to chase that endless horizon.

Ajax-Vei travelled eastward until he reached Soulrest, along the southwestern coast. It was here he managed to persuade the captain to allow him to join the crew of the pirate ship The Storm Treader. Though his stay in Soulrest was short, the many lessons his naive young self learned there would last him a lifetime and save him a great deal of pain and coin.

The rest of his adolescent years - under the name 'Ocean-Scales', given by one who does not understand the ways of the Hist - were spent on the high seas, travelling all across the coasts of Tamriel, seizing goods from merchant ships and learning the tricks of the trade. It was all well and good, he had plenty of coin to throw around and his desire for adventure was adequately sated. Unfortunately their actions attracted the attention of the Empire, who proceeded to send a shop to catch up to them, sink their ship, take them all prisoner, and sail them back to Cyrodiil for prison or execution as necessary. However, Ajax-Vei managed to prevent this fate by reclaiming the ship with the help of his fellow crewmates. They had managed to secure their freedoms, but they were all still wanted men - even more so once news of their escape reached Imperial ears - so they were forced to go their separate ways.

After their great escape, Ajax-Vei aimlessly wandered the lands of Tamriel, taking odd jobs to keep himself going. He took up a new identity. 'Walks-the-Shore', the Argonian pilgrim/mercenary/whatever fits the situation. He had found a calling, and it was taken away from him. This existential crisis didn't last long, however. Ajax-Vei took up a relatively innocuous job. Escort a group of scholars into an Akaviri ruin and assist in locating new findings. Simple enough. Paid well too. Little did he know it would be the job that would inspire the direction of his life from that day forth.

With his new calling in hand, Ajax-Vei took to delving into ancient ruins and scouring the ends of the earth to search for treasures long-lost and knowledge forgotten, whether for himself, a client, or the highest bidder.

The empire does not care if you are an assassin or a thief, they are desperate with destroying this menace to care about the background of their champions

With that said, the empire will never respond for you in case you are caught by the law. Technically only members of the order and the emperor himself know of your mission, you do not have any privilege and you won't be excluded from the order regardless of what you do

I was seeing the lore - and at the time - to be the Dark Brotherhood I would have to kill three civilians or fifteen guards. And indeed, be a member or former in factions is allowed? On the path of vengeance of my character she would have killed some civilians, and this could have called the attention of the DB.

I'm still preparing the background of my character. It's more complicated than it seems to give a reason to the scars of my character.

It is allowed, however keep in mind that, in this rp, the guilds of other regions, such as the mages guild, the fighters guild and the dark brotherhood, are not connected to the guilds of the Illiac bay, meaning that if you were a member of the dark brotherhood in Cyrodiil you will not be a member once you arrive at High Rock or Hammerfell and you will have to start from the beginning. Even more, because you have abandoned the area of your guild you are not a member anymore because you are considered to be disappeared

There is no deadline, take your time, but obviously, since we are all eager to start the sooner the better

Right so. Conjuration isn't a school of magic in Daggerfall. What a shame. Also, are we restricted to in-game spells, or can you jury rig together spells relevant to your character's knowledge?

In the beggining we are restricted to the in game spell effects. However, you have to keep in mind that the spells must be 5 relatively weak at the beggining (and for some classes that are notfocused in spellcasting, such as thr bard, even less), if you have doubts you should PM me first about what are your ideas

Thinking about it, I see no reason why conjuration wouldn't be possible, so I'll allow i

I'm just using this to reserve my Nord character. It will take me some time to write it out since I am using a public computer and my wi-fi at home is absolutely horrible at the moment.

Don't worry, every character is independant of each other, meaning that you can join whenever you want without disrupting the story

By custom spells, I meant something like different varieties of them within the base game effects. Like a Bound Sword spell that summons up iron-quality instead of daedric, or a Fortify Attribute used on senses instead of the usual application.

Or maybe a dagger - has less damage and looks like something a beginner would have learned.

And for example, a kind of rank spells like oblivion. We would have access to novice magic. A novice bound sword would have less damage (could be even compare with iron).

That's a good idea Grey, a low level conjuration spell that creates a weapon of iron quality. It can be any weapon, just of iron quality

EDIT: Ninja'd

But swords have dat reach (but TBH I'm more a shortsword kind of person, which - along with the bow - is the Bound Weapon I'm gunning for)

Besides, Bound Daggers are still... Ebony quaility, IIRC?

And yeah, that last bit is pretty much what I mean (along with sensible alternative applications of certain spells, but I figure that can wait for later)

NAME: Rusalka Nin.
AGE: 24.
SEX: Female.
RACE: Imperial .

CLASS: Assassin.
SKILLS:
Primary: Stealth, Short Blade and Backstabbing.
Secondary: Archery, Lockpicking and Critical Strike.
EQUIPMENT: Stell Dagger, Stell Short Bow and a Quiver with 20 Iron Arrows, Hooded Leather Armor and Normal Clothes.

BACKGROUND: Adventuress and opportunist, Rusalka was born in Cyrodiil. She is the fourth daughter of Lyzabyth and Amiel Nin, a couple of bards. Confident of her skills, the imperial grew surrounded by a troupe of artists, acrobats and bards. Since her childhood, she had the knack for getting in and out of trouble, that only survived by her skills and cunning. And, in fact, she was proud and bold. She grew up devoted to the troupe. From place to place, city to city, Rusalka acted and have met new faces, histories and cultures. Ally of beauty and charm she wants nothing more than to enjoy life. As a thrill-seeker in her adventures as bard, she almost always ended up in bed with someone - man or woman.

The colorful life of a bard was not enough to Rusalka. When in Whiterun she slept with a nordic woman her life has changed. She was dazzled with the skills of the woman, she was a bounty hunter and had told stories about fortune and fighting. Fate was written, Rusalka left the troupe of artist and followed her. Thus she became the wife of luck and the lover of death. Skilled in combat and in the use of weapons, charming when she can be seen, cold and ruthless when necessary, she began selling her skills to the powerful or the desperate - either a reward for the head of a bandit or seduce a nobleman to sell information... she will by any means necessary.

Eventually the years passed and Rusalka moved to Chorrol where she rented a room in one of the local inn. In one morning a strange man came to her and delivered a message that, among other things, said: go to Illiac Bay.
