“The stars dance and play up close, but from far away they act like judgemental eyes; always on the horizon, blinking only when they don’t plan on looking anymore. The dust clouds are bigger than planets, but the dust drifts endlessly, like an enchanting dance that guides everyone of its members in the wrong direction. Or perhaps like a group of friends slowly drifting apart. The daylight skies are nonexistent out here, but that does not stop the beauty of the things here from fading. In fact, it makes them all the more noticeable. But to me, the endless night sky is the most beautiful thing. It stretches on for an eternity, without beginning or end. The darkness is all-consuming, and many find that comfortable. But that thought always comforted me out here, as I endlessly drift…”
-Unnamed Ancient Passage

Drift...

This galaxy, with no agreed upon name, is endless. At least, that’s what people used to believe. Now, of course, it is known that it does have a border. But the galaxy is so huge that it may as well not. The discovery of new sentient species is so commonplace nowadays that it is no longer news-worthy to most. Pirates and looters are common place. Wars are constantly raging. Alliances constantly on the edge of breaking. Greedy merchants and merciful captains, perverted pirates and brutish scouts, families trying to survive and those who would see them dead; these are all people you can meet out here in the vast endless expanse of space. So, the question is, which one will you be?

Perhaps you’ll be the military captain, renowned throughout your race’s eyes. Or the pirate that preys only on ships of a certain make and model. Maybe you’ll be the last ship of your military’s rather tiny armada. Maybe you’ll be a cult-on-thrusters, trying to spread your religion across the universe. Maybe you’ll be a greedy merchant on a quest to find your beloved shuttle once again, or the drunk that stole it? Perhaps you’ll be the crooked cop, helping the pirates find their next mark? It’s up to you.

Basically, Drift is an open-galaxy roleplay. In it, you will control your ship and her crew. I’ll try to manage a pseudo-economy, I’ll try to keep note of who’s who and what’s what. But I’ll leave it up to you to create the plot. It’s no fun if I just tell you what to do, where to go. No no no, I’ll have none of that unless it’s for you to make money doing delivery missions. I want you all to try your best and play a game of politics, civil or not. If that’s not your thing, you can always be a pirate, a military man, or just someone with enough money to fly around the galaxy and look at it.

Vessel Classes

Shuttles- Small ships, usually only used in traveling within a space station or within the atmosphere of a planet. They are the equivalent of a car.

Scout – Scout class vessels are lightly armored, and have hardly any shielding. They are usually manned by a crew of 10 or less, with much of the space being used for the FTL core and extra thrusters for quick getaways. Scout ships have weak weapons, mostly used for distractions.

Frigate – Fast moving and hard hitting vessels, frigates are favorites of galactic pirates. They have enough armor and shielding to survive some attacks, and have guns that pack a punch. They are slower than scouts, however, and can’t even compare to a dreadnought.

Dreadnought – Usually at the rear of most armadas, dreadnoughts are slow-moving, hard-hitting, heavily-armored and shielded beasts of warfare. Many dreadnoughts have much space for FTL cores, with extra heat vents, as well as large guns that can cut through enemy fleets. Many even contain a deck in which frigates can fit in. Dreadnoughts are usually only used in times of war; however, some pirates manage to gain hold of them.

Cruiser – Going at a medium pace, heavily armored, heavily shielded, and outfitted with automated cannons aboard, Cruisers are about the same size as a dreadnought, however instead of using most of that for guns and other offensive tech, cruisers almost exclusively house smaller vessels. With special cargo bays made to fit dozens of frigates, scout ships, and shuttles, cruisers rely on their cargo to protect them. Cruisers travel within the middle of most armadas, deploying ships as they float gently through space. Some are even outfitted with advanced workshops. Most cruisers have a large space reserved for multiple, functional FTL drives. With a few in a special reserve area in the event the other drives go down. Needless to say, when most cruisers are decommissioned, they are recycled.

Space Stations – Slower, heavier armored, heavier shielded, but much less deadly than dreadnoughts, space stations are essentially mobile nations. They don’t usually have FTL drives, due to the nation-like nature of these beasts, but they do have a large variety.

Drifters – Drifters are more commonly known as ghost vessels, or derelict ships. They may or not be in working order. Many are stripped and looted. Can be any class.

Other- While most ships fit these classes, some vessels are just so different that they fall under another class entirely. Tell me about it.

You can also modify your vessel in most ways you see fit. Some modifications aren’t legal in every sector, though.

These ships, however, cost money to maintain. FTL drives alone cost anywhere from thousands to billions of credits just to buy. Total costs could range from anywhere from tens of thousands of credits to quadrillions of credits. These things are expensive. Fret not, however, credits can be earned in many ways.

Credits
Trading is one way to make credits. Just trading every day goods, or even larger more important things. Trade with your friends, or maybe even your enemies. Credits are credits.

I would however, prefer that you trade with other roleplayers. If there’s not enough of those to go around, I’ll step in and actually play GM.

Pirating is always an option for the adventurous, the devious, or the mentally-unstable, however, this is very dangerous, and should only be considered if you have at least a frigate-type vessel.

Working for people always proves to yield some sort of payment. Unless they’re a no-good liar. Regardless, plenty of people will pay you for the occasional odd-job. It may mean you have to team up with others and split the payment, though. Unless of course, you do something about it.

Generous people sometimes give out money. Sometimes it’s a scam. Doesn’t hurt to risk it, though, right? Unless you have the guns and the tech to track down scammers though, it’s probably not wise to accept money from generous people.

Looting derelict “ghost” vessels will occasionally yield some tech, some guns, or some raw credits. Be warned, though, not every ghost vessel is a true ghost vessel. Many of these ghost vessels are traps laid out by pirates, or full of a crew that has suffered the ill-effects of space dementia or some other illness that may or may not be contagious.

Other ways to get credits are out there too.

Many species dot the vast galaxy, from the common and bland human to the mythical and rare S’rhinza. Each species is different in most ways. But not all people fit their stereotypes. Beware, some are known to be unified, and harming one ship may cause an unwanted war. There are too many species to name.

There are many star-clusters as well, most are assigned numbers and some are nicknamed.

Star-Clusters of Interest

The Market
(77162871248)
The Market is purely a trading station. If you want a seller, or a buyer, this is the place to find them. No trade is restricted here and it is a place of relative peace. Anyone who even thinks about charging up their weapons is shot down by The Market’s private military.

The Ghost’s Cradle
(00000000000)
While the number 00000000000 was assigned to a different cluster, most of the races agreed to reassign it to this peculiar place as a warning. Home to a large and ever-increasing number of derelict ships, The Ghost’s Cradle plays their last messages on an endless loop. These messages are usually on one channel, but a few of them “bleed” into others. Another strange phenomenon of this particular region in space is the tendency for crews to go mad if they linger too long. Many popular psychiatrists from each race have stepped forward to put their theories forth. The most popular? “No idea.”

Tyktz
(1882129847188)
A place of seemingly infinite darkness. This strange recess of space has no natural light, and one cannot even see stars here due to a very peculiar phenomenon referred to as “Cancellation”. This strange phenomenon cancels out any waves that are transmitted, including light, sound, and others. This region of space spans a few million light years, and can be seen from almost anywhere in the galaxy. It is recommended to stay away from this region of space, because if you get into a pickle, it’s hard to get out. This place derives its name from an ancient word meaning “Endless Night”, commonly used in spooky stories.

The Longest Day
(88472313194)
While not as strange as some places in the galaxy, The Longest Day is a hot spot for travelers and those who just want a break. This strange cluster is quite literally that, a cluster. 1000 stars, each of varying colors and each caught in the next’s orbit. This huge stretch of space is home to millions of beautiful space stations with a terrific view of this strange chain of stars. The Longest Day also has quite a few planets, with many of them being located far enough to get a good view, while also maintaining a year-round tropical environment. Many of them are also large, endless deserts, devoid of life and too hot to occupy. The planets have one of the strangest orbit patterns within a few million light years of the sector, with their orbit stretching across the entirety of the thousand planets.

The galaxy is a vast place, still wholly unexplored. Many of the unnamed sectors have something worth a name, but who knows? One planet may be filled with diseased creatures that’ll not only eat your doctor, but spread a hyper-contagious disease to your crew. Another may have the remains of an ancient long dead civilization. The possibilities are almost endless.

Well, that’s what I have so far. I’ll try to update this post as often as I can, with various events, miscellaneous information, and of course the main conflicts, alliances, and traders.

"Sir, it seems the cruiser is attempting to ram us."
Vessel name: Empaleur

Vessel identification number: 6892
Vessel history: The Empaleur ( Impaler in English ) was owned originally by the Imperial kingdom. It was a cruiser, able to carry many ships, and around the size of your average dreadnaught. In a massive battle above the Imperial kingdom's capital, the Empaleur was badly damaged, and was then left as a derelict wreckage.

However, some space pirates stumbled upon the scene and quickly brought it back to their camp. It underwent extreme upgrades. The armor was extremely strong, able to withstand even an ion blast. On top of that, powerful shields were installed. The finishing touch was hundreds of monkey cannons. Though these do not compare to heavy dreadnaught guns, they are extremely lethal against the inside of a ship.

Currently it is under the control of Desha A'Cor, who uses it for pirating and whatever he pleases.

Vessel occupation: Pirate.

Crew members:
ARE THERE NO SPOILERS?

Desha A'Cor/52/Male/Human

Desha grew up in luxury. He was taught politics when he was young, as well as self defense and piloting. When he was twenty, he embarked on a venture to see the world.

It didn't work well. He was captured by pirates, and slowly worked his way up their ranks until he was the first mate. Then he killed the captain, and now commands the crew of the Empaleur.

Seras/27/Female/Human

Seras willingly joined the pirates when she was young. She is ambitious and cunning, but not without a soft side. Rumor has it she is the mistress of Desha. She serves as the second in command of the crew.

Kesk/Unknown/Presumed Male/Unknown ( Says Kesk? )

Kesk is the weapon master of the ship. He is responsible for leading bording parties and assualts on other ships, aswell as defense of the Empaleur. He wears an armoured suit and mask, and he rarely says anything except "Kesk."

Auto/Active for 89 years./None./AI.

Auto is the robot brain of Empaleur. He controls defense, and also nearly everything else in the ship. His physical appearence is of a robot which he can choose to control whenever.

Features: The Empaleur is a fast moving ship, with heavy shields and armor. It's primary function is to ram the other ships, and once breached, assume control. It also has many monkey cannons to ward off small ships and humans.

"Well, yes, our ship is basically a bunch of houses on the back of a giant creature."

-Tapfere Seel, the captain and only human member of the crew.

Vessel name: The Gojirius

Vessel identification number: 19240

Vessel history: The creature on which the fortress resides on has existed forever, devouring all in its path. The creature's lungs are made of several intricate layers, to filter out any oxygen in its path. It was originally a scientist base. They wanted to study the creature. In fact, one of the scientists is now the captain. Alien races moved in and settled in, and most of the humans left the The Gojirius after this. The alien species transformed the small scientific vessel into a dreadnought of war, equipped with cannons and harpoons. Even though a human is a captain, he can't do anything without the consent of the whole crew. The ship now mostly trades.

Vessel occupation: Trader. Even though I say it is equipped with war items, they are only to protect the trade.

Crew members: (these are just the main ones. There are countless workers on the ship, these are the ones who control different aspects.)

Tapfere Seel - Human, age 54.

Was originally a scientist. Was one of the best on Q-67, his home planet. Was on the scientific base that was attached to and studied the giant creature that the fort now is attatched to.

Has a strong personality, very brave, therefore was the only person to stay once the aliens arrived and changed The Gojirius forever. He rose through the ranks until he was elected the first captain, going against what most aliens think of humans. Most of the aliens respect him.

Ukukhuluma Eyodwa - Izimpawu, age 68.

This exotic alien is one of the smartest species in the galaxy. Ulukhuluma is the communication master of the ship. He handles how the ship talks to other vessels, and sorts out the radio that informs the crew of the latest news updates. He also set up a radar that informs of other ships in the surrounding area.

He is well respected among the crew, and Tapfere would trust him with his life.

Brod Vozača, Nečovjek, age 30.

Brod is the pilot. Well I say the pilot, he sits in the cabin and uses a set of levers to steer or stop the creature. Tapfere hand picked Brod to be the pilot out of over 75 candidates, as he seemed trustworthy and proved his skill well.

Nečovjeks are one of the best sighted races in the galaxy, and have very fine tuned senses as well as sight. Brod could spot a shuttle from a mile away.

Kashikoi Sumāto, Komyunikētā, age 105.

Kashikoi is the person in charge of convincing people to make trades while in the market. Tapfere chose him to take this position because Komyunikētās are one of the most respected races in the universe.

He is kind, smart and gentle to others.

Kangpae Mugi, Gongpo, 49.

Kangpae is in charge of all the weapons on The Gojirius. He is a brute. There is no other way to say it. He is the only main member that Tapfere does not trust entirely. Kangpae does also not trust Tapfere.

Gongpos are a warring species. Tapfere was reluctant to pick Kangpae, but the other main crew members insisted.

Features:<Weapons, armor, speed, etc.>: The creatures skin is very tough. As I mentioned before, the Gojirius is equipped with lots of weapons, heavy fire cannons and large harpoons. As it is a dreadnought like vessel, it cannot go very fast. But when the creature feels threatened (Which doesn't happen really at all, as the creature is very large) It can make a quick burst of speed.
Height/Weight/Length: 400 metres long.
Rooms:<You don’t have to list them all, just the main features>
There is a...

A workers sleeping house
A trading house
A captains cabin
A supplies closet
A control centre (where it is steered)
A communications room (Where radio is transmitted, a radar is placed and a speaker is placed).
And a sleeping complex for all the main crew members

Everything else: Nothing else, apart from this took be over an hour to make ;_;

Cpt Dario said "Yes, she is, indeed a bucket of bolts, but, my dear, she can do the job better then any other vessel."

Vessel name: The Good Gallant Ship: MINE!
Vessel identification number:958323
Vessel history: Originally designed and used to haul containers around within a station or Cruiser it had its future changed as a suicidal young man, and his seven accomplices, decided to 'borrow' it for an ever extending period of time. They picked up a container carrying an FTL drive, and filled with other belongings, and at once set to work hooking it up to the main systems and re-purposing the interior. Where they could they stripped the inside of the hull, welded the container to the cockpit and set up space for them to sleep and live without imposing too much on the all important pilot. It was to the sounds of falling metal and welding that the security did notice the hijacking. Foolishly, thinking it to be one, perhaps two men, they decided to try and get close to take out the crew. At which point Captain Kiliard Dario and most of his untested crew opened the door and began firing back. Meanwhile the last member of the crew, Tillion Viscot, was busy trying to get all the engines working correctly. Dario and the crew held of the security detail (who ended up hiding behind cover as they were outnumbered by one) while the ships main security arrived. Eventually Tillion got something working and, with the security doors closing, managed to fire some of the engines all at once from the rear of the ship, resulting in a hasty airlock closure from the crew and a very erratic tumble out into the vastness of space. Before Dario got a hold of the controls and steered them clear of the cruiser before some sod tried to take them out of the sky.
Vessel occupation: Raiding ship (Pirate)
Crew members:
Name: Kiliard Dario

Age: 27
Bio: Upon a discussion in a pub after work with two of her colleagues in which they began talking about the container craft and how they could be re-purposed they ended up getting into a serious discussion and, when Tillion mentioned he reckoned he could get it to run off an FTL they began making more serious, permanent plans. Dario saw this opportunity to leave her job as a energy infuser, who was in the part of the ship pirates often attempted to plunder.
Race: قزم

Name: Tillion Viscot

Age: 31
Bio: Tillion ended up offering his skills to the crew in a heated bargain and, not aproving of the infighting amongst the قزم, held his end of it by hooking up the FTL drive and adding the added features to the ship. He also keeps s the ship in good nick as the قزم in the crew often have little of his love for the aspects of technology and its fragile nature.
Race: Human

Name: Froroc Roc-Roc

Age: 89 (As Reiakma) 3 (As CyborgAI)
Bio: Originally named Friar Yale his dying wish was to be reincarnated as a cyborg. Since his brain could not be revived they replaced it with an AI that's base personality was much like his Techno-religious 'base model' That was until he men Tillion who hated his devout technoligious worship and re-coded him to be freer spirit and to be more loyal to his allies, who ended up being Kiliard and Tillion. He was commissioned in his 'afterlife' as a security guard and, after some messing from Tillion that gave him more freedom to develop his own personality, which ended up being one that liked guns and fighting alongside friends.
Race: Undead Cyborg AI?

The Other five members of crew are all males of the race of قزم and are all ex-security and very loyal to Dario who has gotten them thus far.

Features:The weapons the crew themselves carry, which are powerful but would have difficulty doing damage to anything beyond a shuttle but would be happy to hold a ships crew at bay as well as a downward airlock which was added by Tillion and Froroc and is designed to survive Tillion's breaching charges. The ship has a quick turn of speed and can drift accurately from long distances thanks to Tillion's patent pending targeting system. This allows it to drift past a ships detection system where, what was once used to pick up containers, latches on allowing the airlock to be opened and the crew the ability to breach the hull. It also has extremely weak shielding as its original purpose was an interior one.
Height/Weight/Length:
Rooms:A 'bridge' as Dario calls it, where there are two seats and the ships controls. Behind that lays the joint living space and sleeping area which also houses the targeting computer. Behind this again is both the Storage and the engines.
Everything else: Yes Dario will have to get changed with the predominately male crew, get over it Bruh.

"They never expect to get caught"
Vessel name: Arkingham
Vessel identification number: 054326
Vessel history: Designed with stealth and speed in mind, this ship and it's crew sign on as retainers to various trans-galactic corporations, caught under the plight of piracy. This crew tracks and recovers stolen assets for various corporations and various completely legitimate enterprises from the people who stole them. Known for their speed and discrepancy when dealing with sensitive cargo, the Arkingham has a reputation of respect and courtesy to their corporate employers. Feared by pirate scum across the galaxy, the crew will stop at nothing to get the job done, even if they kill everyone around them.
Vessel occupation: Asset Recovery
Crew members:
Name: Talis Snow

Age: 30
Bio: Born on a frontier colony world, Talis was one of the few survivors of a pirate attack destroying the colony. Instead of just stereotypically forming a vendetta on pirates, watching all his friends and family die drove Talis utterly insane and gave him a sociopathic personality, but there are space drugs for that. As long as Talis gets his injections, he stops from killing everyone around him and ramming the Arkingham into the side of a civilian cruiser. He also enjoys long walks on the space beach and calibrating the guns.
Race: Human Cyborg

Name: Carl

Age: 89
Bio: Carl belongs to a telepathic race that is highly intelligent and dedicated. Carl serves as the ship's tracking officer and hunts down the assets and pirates who stole them. Talis won him from a slaver during a game at the Intergalactic Space Roulette Championship. He is wary of Talis, due to his inability to read his jumbled mind and he watched Talis kill a whole bunch of people.
Race: Carminian

Name: Dardok Gnoss

Age: 40
Bio: Dardok serves as the ship's engineer and tech specialist. Generally disregarded by the crew of the Arkingham, he has come to the rescue of its crew many times. Born on his industrial homeworld, Dardok was destined for a simple life of being a vent mechanic until one fateful day, a man in black showed up in the hangar he was working on. That man was Talis, who Dardok happily recalls him saying "Quick bash him over the head, we don't have the funds for this" and being dragged into a life of adventure. He's probably developed an advanced form of Stockholm syndrome and can only view Talis as a heroic gentleman, expertly defeating pirate scum.
Race: Argossian

Features: Regenerative Heavy Shielding, Semi-Legal Stealth Drive, FTL Drive, Many smaller cannons for disabling ships and one large forward mounted gun for taking down ships, Highly Illegal Electromagnetic Ship Disabler which takes a long time to charge and can only be used at the expense of other systems.
Height/Weight/Length: Medium/Heavy/Medium
Rooms:Bridge, Captain's Quarters, Crew Quarters, Med Bay, Comms Center, Cargo Hold, "Secret" Cargo Hold, Armory, Gunnery
Everything else: N/A. There's no preview button. This disappoints me.

"Saying he's adaptable is an understatement. I prefer to use flexible."
Vessel name: Sentinel 8
Vessel identification number: 888888
Vessel history: The last remaining ship from a fleet unknown. The ship itself is sentient, and regards itself as 8. Although 8 cannot speak, he is able to communicate through the HUD in the cockpit with a monotone male voice. Currently Vayes [The captain] is the only one who has been told the ships relations towards the universe. He wrote down his conversation with 8:

The goal of my fleet remains unknown to those who have not yet been destroyed. I am the counterpart to my own brethren in that I seek their destruction while they seek the destruction of others. I came to be approximately 4000 years ago on a planet known as Arcronia, nearly 400 million lightyears from our current location. Our creators built each of us as their own personal partner. In this region of the universe, one cannot imagine bringing up a technological artifact as an accomplice or as a student, but our knowledge and pre-invested intelligence allows us to understand feelings, emotions, doubt, reasoning, logic. I was given to a man known as Axron. I still carry a databank with pictures of him. He was my father and my teacher. Piloting me around the galaxy of which we lived in, we christened ourselves vigilantes, striking down foes who betrayed the essense of good. As I've explained to you before, I was the 8th ship out of 20 just like me, varying in size and power. I am 8th in that ranking, being able to shift with a charge required. After a training period of 1000 years, as our creators were immortal, you see, myself and my 19 other brothers assembled and formed a fleet. Ventex, they called us. I thought it was a suitable name for a ship, maybe not a fleet, but we were just the transportation. We started lovely, helping win good wars across the galaxy, our homeworld peaceful and proud of their renowned heroes. But slowly, the leadership of ships 1 and 2 waned. 2 slowly became envious of 1, although it was not shown to our creators. After another 1000 years of Ventex, 2 confronted 1 about switching places. All of us look the exact same in our normal state, you see. 2 thought it would be a fine idea to trade places for a little while, although 1 was not impressed with his modesty. On the next mission, 2 disobeyed his masters tactics, and was destroyed when a missile flew straight into the engine and hit the main power cell. Our creators turned on each other, as to why 2 had failed to obey. They blamed us. Me and my brethren were thrown aside, replaced with exact copies of the same name and personality. 1 came to all of us, as we sat, useless, in a hangar back on Arcronia. "We understand their principles. We know what we are, and we are capable of fighting where they are not. There are 19 of us now, but Ventex still remains in our hearts. Each one of you represents a part of me. While we may be able to shift, morph, change who we look like, we will remain connected to each other by our past. We are brothers. Venturing into the universe, doing right where there is wrong. Follow me now." and with that, 1 swooped into the sky. All of us followed him; we had nowhere else to go. Pass another 1000 years by; our creators have turned evil. They are the opposite of what they used to be, and they see us, their past creations, filling in where they had left off. And so, they came for us. 18 of my brothers and myself, their 20 and their might. We fought, clashed, laid down our lives for a purpose that was easily filled by any other man in the universe. At the end, only 1 and myself had survived. I would have been dead if 3 had not sacrificed himself to protect me. Our experience in battle was superior to theirs. We knew how space worked, we knew how we flew better than they did. Of course 2 was the only one left on their side. He had seen the wrong in his masters action and had killed his creator from the inside. But he was not turned to good. 'I view our creators as inferior weaklings whose evil is reminiscent of a baby strangling a cat. If you two, you puny two, would like to defeat me, please, charge your cannons and fire. But know that you killed the last of your brothers. I will not shoot back. If you kill me, you only hurt yourself.' 1 was slowly falling apart besides me. As I had said, we understand emotions, and thus, we understand our brethren for how they feel. I could feel 1 crying inside. He saw 2 in the 2 across from us. 1 sent me a final message before he moved:

"Find your path. Continue our goal, but make sure to never fail like I did here. Be merciless, but respectful. You, as my last brother, are all I have left. The least you can do for me, and for what we stand for, is continue down the hall where I collapsed to the floor. Best of luck, brother."

Morphing into a hollow sphere, 1 surrounded the opposing 2, facing his engine towards the inside. Powering up a full charge, 1 fired his engine, creating an implosion, destroying both himself the 2 inside.

I wandered for a few hundred years. Over time, I found my way to you, Vayes. I see a leader inside of you. I see 1.

8 had wandered to a trading post just outside of the Ghost's Cradle sector. Vayes, 18 at the time, found him there in the hangar bay, staring into the sky, or rather, sitting motionless like a ship normally would. Turning into the Captain upon the moment of finding the ship, Vayes brought along his partner, Exasado, and the two moved into 8.

Vessel occupation: A scout class capable of morphing into any shape, using the cockpit as a central pivot point. Depending on the complexity of the maneuver, the amount of time required to execute scales upwards in intervals of 5 seconds, to a maximum of 50 seconds. However, the stabilizers and mechanics of the ship must charge for the same amount of time before being able to do the move. Lastly, the perform a second maneuver, the morph must be reset back to the normal state of the ship, taking the same amount of time to retract as to split.

Turn into a cube: 45 seconds
Charge time: 45 seconds
Time to execute: 45 seconds
Time to retract to normal state: 45 seconds
Total: 135 seconds to execute the move and immediately reverse back to normal state.

Think of a Rubix cube and how it rotates around the central ball. That's what I'm doing here, using the cockpit as the pivot point.

Crew members:

Name: Vayes

Age: 24
Bio: Born on Surabachi, a planet known for clinging on to older principles and society, Vayes grew up in an enviroment much like the Wild West, albeit with advanced technology and weaponry. Bounty Hunters lurked in the shadows while armed guards stood in sight everywhere, laws being placed as a guideline, not as a rule. With quarrels between people usually solved with a firearm, Vayes is amazingly proficient with a pair of laser pistols he owns. His left hand holds "Burn" while his right holds "Dust", and he usually refers to them individually, rarely regarding them as a set.

Each has a power cell inside that powers them for up to 600 shots without a need for a reload, although they can only be recharged in a special station inside of 8. The ship gave Vayes the guns when he became Captain; they were the only items found on 8, although Vayes considers asking 8 where they came from. They fire a blue beam of energy when used that burns any in the path of the laser; the beam itself stretches for about 30 feet before dissipating, making them frustrating to use at long range. However, they are hot enough to melt through weaker metals and easily burn through wood or organic materials.

Vayes had a somewhat normal life, his father being an instructor at a nearby military school. Contrary to what most would think, his father tended to not care about Vayes' discipline and behavior; as such, Vayes grew up with a slightly more observant and less pressured outlook. Staying silent unless needing to talk, he tends to figure out problems on his own rather than seek out help. However, Exasado is an outlet for him and his problems, and he usually seeks her out before trusting himself, if necessary. He met Exasado back on his home planet; she was one of the students his father taught, although not very good in the academy. Attempting to teach her a few extra techniques, Vayes incurred the wrath of his father, who although not an aggressive man, was extremely strict on how to raise a child to their peak physical ability. An outside influence, even if it was his son, did not seem to meet his fathers standards. Having a massive argument with his father, Vayes left the house with Exasado and they drifted around the planet for a while, moving from town to town. Getting a ride off of the planet, they happened upon a trading station near The Ghost's Cradle and acquired a ship. Now both 17, they wandered into the Cradle and collected their gear and weaponry through searching in old ships. During that time, they also formed a bond to each other that would make them near-perfect partners in combat and strategy. A year later, they found 8. Ever since then, Vayes has traveled as a bounty hunter/vigilante with Exasado and 8. He carries a vibro-sword on his back for very close combat.

-- Is extremely perceptive and logical for his age.
-- Occasionally speaks with metaphors and phrases that require some deconstruction, and is a master conversationalist.
-- Was taught Xef by his father, mastering it by age 13. [a form of efficient, agile kickboxing]
-- Loves movies, and has a habit of trying out some of the combat techniques employed in some of his favorite action flicks.
Race: Human

Name: Exasado
Age: 23

Bio: Exasado never knew her parents. She was born and then given straight to the Military Academy of Cines, a prestigious school on the far side of Surabachi. Her entire life was focused around the Academy, never leaving it until her and Vayes left the city when she was 15. Proficient with most firearms, she fills in for Vayes' lack of range by being extremely adept with a railgun:

She very rarely strays from Vayes' side, so both can cover for each other in the according ranges of combat. She carries two daggers on her back just in case someone gets too close, and is accomplished with those as well.

-- A decent mechanic, being able to fix 8 manually while being instructed.
-- Has an amazing amount of endurance built off of the foundation of living at the Academy for most of her life.
-- Adept in Xef, a form of efficient, agile kickboxing.
-- Enjoys drawing.

Name: 8
Age: +-4000
Appearance: See picture of the ship above.
Bio: See Vessel History.
Personality: Extremely noble and loyal to Vayes, 8 is calm and cool even when he himself faces life-threatening situations. Knowing his own capabilities and limits to a T, Vayes lets him do most of the piloting, although 8 allows his Captain to do any and all talking. Surprisingly, the ship has a lot of experience regarding emotional concerns and dilemna's, often providing comfort or advice to Exasado and Vayes.
-- Shares an odd bond with Vayes, occasionally watching movies with him and commenting on them.

Features: The ship, besides being able to morph into nearly any shape, carries a single lightweight cannon attached directly to the cockpit. It cannot be moved or repositioned with rest of the ship. It functions off of the same mechanics as the pistols Vayes carries, although how it charges is unknown. Each beam fired is powerful enough to melt through basic hull armor, although not able to penetrate high-level shields. Each shot requires 3 minutes of charge time, stacking to a maximum of 60 shots charged. After a shot, another 30 seconds is required before being able to fire again.

The speed of the ship is average among Scouts, nothing miraculous. The ship has no shields, instead putting on a slightly more durable sheet of armor. The armor itself can stand metal projectiles, although laser weapons and rail guns are capable of puncturing it, when of a higher quality.

Although not tall, entrance to the ship requires a small jump to get in, about 3 feet off of the ground. Entrance is through the back of the thruster[see below].

The engine of the ship, again, functions on the same principles as the cannon and Vayes' pistols. Requiring a charge of 1 hour to make a lightspeed jump, the thrusters themselves fire a beam similar in heat and color to the cannon, albeit much larger and dissipating after a few feet, making them near-useless as weapons, although they can be if used at extremely short range. At that point, assume the power = 4x the cannon. The engine charges over time at the rate of 120 mph = maximum speed before the engine starts to use more than it can charge. Fully running out of energy for the engine will cause it to stop completely until there is enough power to return to 120 mph. However, the beam out of the engine is aimed in such a way that the engine itself does not overheat, allowing the thruster to be walked through.

Height/Weight/Length: About 28 feet from engine flaps to point of nose. Around 2 tons total in weight, not very heavy. When on stabilizers, about 13 feet high.
Rooms: The cockpit, which contains the recharging station for Vayes' pistols and a closet with food supplies, and a small room with two bunks and a storage closet below.
Everything else: The storage closet contains a small collection of movies, additional ammo for Exasado's railgun, and a few tools and parts for repairing 8 if needed.
