Where are you getting this claim from?

Illogical fallacy for the sake of comedy. Most characters in the RP use stealth and tracking skills. Usually, people tend to favor stealthy, assassin-type characters. We lack many beefcake warriors and old guys with sticks that shoot fire. No offense to warriors and mages. Again, comedy.

I for one get the humor xD Assassins/ninjas are rather overated nowadays, but I myself did fall under the trap of 'stealth' myself with my dear Delilah- whom is most certainly not a stealth oriented character in most cases, and I actually have been meaning to drop that 'stealth' aspect after I initially made her xD apathy and laziness, eh?

Once again, I favor the samurai- xD

-edit-
Went ahead and editted the lass actually, dumped the stealth for more... Fitting skills that Delilah would have, only one post in and figured it wouldn't hurt much :p

Is this one of those things were you mask complaints or criticism behind parody? Usually people chose sneaky rogue types because either: Beef-cake warriors get snuffed by the villain of the week to prove the strength of said villain of the week, or old men with magic sticks get rendered useless to prove the toughness of the villain of the week. If people aren't getting worfed, their attacks are getting nerfed. You have to fight smart and cunning when brutal efficiency or your years of magical expertise gets countered for the sake of plot. Of course, specializing into being just the warrior/rogue/wizard is getting phased out for more skill versatility, or at least the ability to use your same play style in different flavors.

There will come a point where Malakaus's "Hit them with everything you got" style won't work... Because he's using physical weapons. Eventually he'll use magical weapons, which still amount to "Hit them with everything you got" but with magic instead of axes. That's what assassins and the like are often known for: have no restriction to their tools or methods beyond what they can prepare. They can stab you in the back or fry you with lightning, neither one of them would be unexpected. But to see a bonefide warrior slinging ice spells, or a mage in the thick of battle swinging a maul in heavy armor? You'd think either they were a made warrior or mage, or just multiclassing.

But I guess that's the other issue with rogue types too, neh? By taking the middle ground, they have the potential to be better than either classes if they lack restriction. The best warrior won't match up to the best rogue if he's just as good as a warrior AND is also just as good of a mage as the master wizard. Sneaky assassin types often can somehow defeat armored knights in strait up combat, somehow finding ways past their armor (If they don't simply stab through the armor) or able to close the distance with mages or escape their foresight before the mage can pull off their spells. It's probably why everyone has Perception as a class skill; to have something that would allow them to counter ambushes and sneak attacks and take away a rogues most devastating ability: To hit first. And when everyone starts playing rocket tag, he who strikes first wins first.

-defenitely didn't edit perception in-

But anyway I see your point, I find rogues/assassins quite OP. I bet if I made a martial artist mage, I could counter rogues. Though that's why I use 2/3 assassins it's an excuse to get up close and personal, use martial arts to counter melee and unarmed hits and then make my hits undodgable due to the logic of me having control of their limb or mounted on their body.

Oh, so you're a grapple fighter eh? Yeah, that can be tricky to deal with in a narrative format too. Once you're grappled there isn't much you can do to NOT get hit, and you'd have to be a beefy warrior type to survive it... Course, if you're a beefy warrior type, getting grappled would be a good thing because that just means your enemy is within striking range.

I actually dislike using stealth myself. I find stealth to be difficult to portray when roleplaying. I'm not saying it isn't a good thing-- quite the opposite, I more just go with creating a story and plugging in what makes sense for the character. I'm very much so story-oriented over combat.

But this is just me, and I can see your reasoning. Rogues do have certain advantages-- but I'm in favor that even the most skilled of rogues can never outdo the most dedicated of warriors in combat, or the most learned of mages in spell-use, but offers a charming and charismatic middle ground, and is capable of supplying both humor and darkness when necessary.

I see things more story-oriented than game-y xD

--

Oi, Grappling's a bitch to deal with in roleplays! Two people have different mental images-- and suddenly nobody knows what's going on xD I love it! the confusion is great.

Grappling, like rocket tag, depends on who gets hit first: It's hard to get out of a grapple and once you're in you're pretty much done for. Unless you specked for character to counter grapplers most don't have much to do to defend themselves. You could block or parry a sword swing, but it's harder to dodge out of an arm bar. Hence why Malakaus unarmed skilled is with wrestling, to counter or at least be able to put up a fight in grapples while giving him an unarmed option.

Did I mention that I'm not just a grappler? I'll just switch over to Kali and be done with it. (Weapon Combat) I would like to see Malakeus vs Titus or Rommy.

@Phoenix LMFAO I'll do my best to explain my attacks and counters as best as possible.

Grappling with weapons just raises the stakes. At least if it were pure weapon fighting Malakaus could shrug off all but the hardest blow thanks to armor proficiency. Most people think a guy in full armor shouldn't need to dodge, well those people would be killed if put into full plate. Being armored just increases the odds of surviving a stray blow, not guarantees survival. Even Malakaus has to be agile, and he's taken the measures to be so in heavy armor. Once thing is for certain: I plan to advert Rocket Tag gameplay when Malakaus gets into battle. Hit him once or hit him a hundred times it still won't be enough.

Oh, what I mean is that I may not even grapple you, considering I can still go for a weapon range and whatnot. Considering BOTH my characters have hidden blades, grappling with them would be suicidal, at this point all locks turn into breaks.

There are two types of unarmed combat RPers

-The ones that observe or google stuff up.

-The ones that do this stuff in real life.

The problem with hidden blades is that they're either small and only good in a grapple, or large and easy to break. Assassin Creed style of hidden blades are flimsy; they're worse than butterfly knives with all their moving parts. And while you character may have hidden blades, Malakaus goes into battle in Full Armor. Sure most people think that being armored just makes it easier to dehumanize your enemy, but it turns out that stuff is good for not getting metal bits into your not-metal parts. Sure it isn't exactly subtly, but it's certainly effective. Contrast to popular belief, full plate armor wasn't even all that restrictive or heavy. If it was, it would be bad armor. I mean, armor that you can't move in? Who'd want that? Certainly tiring, but it's also why you don't have a lot of random people donning full armor into battle. It takes training, conditioning, and most of all time. You don't just have a natural talent for moving around with an extra twenty pounds of steel. That stuff needs to be conditioned onto you, like calloused palms.

A grappling fight is how most real life brawls evolve into. At the very least, you certainly don't want to give your enemy the space to swing his weapon which usually means you're right up onto them, either locking weapons or pulling him to the ground. Times like those is where a knife is truly deadly; that small blade might not look like much next to a big longsword, but it's just the rise size when your body-to-body with your current opponent. At least, so long as your enemy has some soft parts to put the blade in. That's where the armor comes in.

Oh he can get hit with other magicks then IF detected. Physical attacks will do nothing to him, and yes take a shadow and say it's like quicksand. Amplify the falling by quite a bit, he literally sinks/emerges from the shadows.@Jivusa Assassin! Not ninja! This is my Mythical RP character converted for this RP!

Physical attacks will do nothing to him? wait what? I'm confused. It's 5am over here and all I want is:

For the shadow walking business to be limited to a range of two hundred yards.

For him not to be made out of steel titanium alloys.

For him not to be able to spam the shadow business as a way of killing hundreds of opponents in one instance.

If we have an agreement, then you're accepted.

Anyways, must be off to work, will catch up with you all later.

What about Romulus?! XP also I don't spam shadow travel, and all physical attacks to him while he's IN a shadow do nothing, magic works however, also I only use shadow travel for individual assassinations or fast travelling in a limited range. (Like you said)

The best counter to any Rogue is a Monk.

My character is a caster, and I believe there's another legitimate magic user around here somewhere.

You completely neglected people like myself-- common sense users. Sometimes simply doing what makes sense im combat surpasses any research or real life skill. I fence. I fence rather actively. I rarely fence in roleplays. Etcetera xD

But hm. There will always be a downfall to heavy armor- restricted mobility, the heat (god awful layers they have to wear to avoid rubbing their skin off with that armor, eh?) the easier target... To be quite frank, plate mail would be useless against a rifle shot (internal bleeding and such)- but let's leave this to fantasy, eh? Let us not be too realistic in this wonderful fantasy setting Ser Hamster has provided us. I do so love fantasy.

I'm just going to put an accept stamp on this.

If it turns out your character is wholly unsuitable for the RP, then we can always revisit the issue. I'm sure however that you'll be sensible and I'm just having a hard time understanding things.

Take it away!

Oh, oh wait you have another character. *Prepares scepticism"

Spanish? What the- no, no no no no no this is not earth. DENIED.

I've also noticed both characters lack background; surely after six months cooped up on a boat with hundreds of others, your character would have given away some details willingly or not. I imagine an assassin shadow warrior type emits some strange mannerisms when under constant observation.

Rework your Spanish fellow, and try again with him. Let me know when you've made him not from earth.

*Face palms*

I don't think he means no accent. Just no..using the word spanish.

Though we haven't at all discussed what takes the places for such things. Cause if asked where Vyce's clothing originates, I'm just going to call this realities version of the Japanese, Genji.
