Tetsuo watched the rest of the ceremony with interest and cheered with the other students when the principal screamed at the top of his lungs, welcoming the new students to the academy. He followed the incredibly boring looking teacher over to the incredibly boring classroom and sat down for what was no doubt his least favorite subject: math. It was the first day, so it wasn't really gonna matter that much anyway, so he just doodled and listened to some of the things that the girls around him were talking about.

"Did you hear about the disappearances?"

"Wait, you mean like the people who show up dead?"

At that, Tetsuo turned around to the two girls. He didn't recognize one of them, but he vaguely recalled seeing one of them in the hallways. "Did you say that they died?"

The girl he didn't recognize nodded. "Yeah. Or, that's what I heard. I trust my sources, though."

"Right…"

Tetsuo turned around just as the teacher turned back to the class from the board, and doodled for the rest of class, not paying too much attention to the lesson.

~

After the lunch bell rang, Tetsuo headed over to the lunch room with a speed that even surprised him, but hell, he wanted to beat the rush that was certain to happen in the lunch line. He showed up relatively early and got something filling, then headed back to an empty table, sitting down and putting on his headphones, eating and looking around the cafeteria while his music went through his ears. It was good stuff, some light rock that was perfect for his mood.

Rika frowned a bit at the boy's overly shyness. She couldn't tell what was the problem, she was being friendly. Perhaps it was just his personality, nevertheless, she still wanted to know more about him and would not be dissuaded. "I-I-I'm alright... I guess... Um... You?" The boy finally spit out after a long moment of silence. "That's good, oh by the wa-" She started to say something but was soon cut off by the approach of another student.

"I... Hope I'm not interrupting anything, but... would it be alright if I ate here? None of the other spots around the place are free." A black haired boy asked the two of them. Turning her head back, Rika noticed it was someone from her class. However, before she could respond Tim chimed up and offered him a seat rather readily. Wait a minute, what's up with that? He barely said a word to me, then this guy walks up and he suddenly can talk? Hrmm, what the heck? I mean, I'm charming, friendly... what could it be? Scratching her head, she began to look at the two boys. She looked at one, then back to the other. Wait a minute! What if-? No... could it? Maybe it's more common like that in America. Ugh, if that's the case then I'm seriously at a disadvantage here... She sat there thinking as the black haired boy took a seat, anyone around could almost see the smoke coming out of her head.

Rika shook her head. "Anyway, It's nice ta meet you two!~" She said in a chirpy tune. "In fact, it looks like we're all from the same class." She chuckled, drumming her fingers in a rhythm. "By the way, my name's Rika! How about you guys?" She asked with an inquisitive look, tilting her head slightly.

Suzu's eyes peeled open as she heard the door to the room open and shut. She hoped in the back of her head someone was not already causing trouble. It was far to early in the year for anyone to be pulling any stunts. It wasn’t long before she confirmed the entrant, another member of the student council. ”Oh, its you Hideki.” She said idly while shifting into a proper sitting position, her arms folding onto the desk in front of her.

She gave a light sigh at the mention of the entrance ceremony. ”Even I don't know everything they're gonna come up with for these things. They're going to burn the whole place down one of these days.” She gave a shrug of the shoulders. Truth be told she was surprised they didn't burn the place down this time. Though she recalled having a similar thought during the previous years closing ceremony.

When the subject of classes came up she simply gave a light hum, and that was about all she thought of them. Nothing more, nothing less. A class was a class after all, there was only so much one could think about them. ”Did you lose a fight with a razor or something?” She blurted out bluntly as she looked over the boy. The bandage plastered on his brow was impossible not to notice.

Naganori nodded politely and took a seat as the boy offered it, although the guy seemed a little nervous. It was understandable as they barely knew each other, and the boy didn't seem to be one who liked talking much with others. He then started unpacking his bento lunch while the two seemed to look at him. The girl seemed to be looking at him very intently, and maybe with a hint of anger. "What's her problem...? He thought. He silently started chewing on his food as the girl piped up in a surprisingly cheerful voice.

"Anyway, It's nice ta meet you two!~ In fact, it looks like we're all from the same class." She said with a chuckle. "By the way, my name's Rika! How about you guys?" She finished. Naganori just realized that they were indeed classmates of his, as he vaguely remembered faces like theirs during the morning classes. "My name is Naganori Tadayoshi. It's a pleasure to meet you, Rika." He said in a somewhat blank tone of voice. He partly wanted to ask her what was making her so angry a while ago, but he decided he might as well let it go. There wasn't really much point in asking unless she started fuming again.

"Are... you two friends?" Naganori asked the girl while studying the two of them, wondering what an outspoken person like Rika was doing with a shy guy like the boy seated next to her.

"Hahahaha, yeah. The amount of fire hazards in this year's ceremony was uh....Unnerving to say the least. I'm not looking forward to the closing ceremony in that regard." Again Hedeki scratched the back of his head as he gave another small smile. The young man took a seat in one of the chairs that adorned the room, frowning ever so slightly at Nanase's seemingly disinterest in the first classes.

"Well my first class was certainly interesting. Had a teacher by the name of Satoru Masanori, any idea who he is? If his name's Satoru he's related to th-." His hand drifted to his bandage when Nanase interrupted him. Hideki quickly looked away as he stammered to give a response. "Uh, I, uh...It was a kendo accident. A little mishap with a broken shinai." He shifted uncomfortably in his seat as he tried to change the subject. "So Madame President! Got any extra curricular clubs planned this year? Aside from Student Council of course."

"Anyway, It's nice ta meet you two! In fact, it looks like we're all from the same class. By the way, my name's Rika! How about you guys?" The girl said with a chuckle while the other new guy took a seat and introduced himself. Despite the laughter, the girl looked angry for some reason that Tim couldn't figure out. He frowned, and assumed he must have done something wrong that he wasn't aware of... again. Uh-oh... It's only noon, and I've already upset someone...

The boy didn't spend too much time thinking about it. He had to say his name before there was a long awkward silence. "Um... I'm Tim..." The boy muttered. There was less stuttering, and It went much better than we he spoke to the class president earlier, but there was still some pauses there. Then Naganori asked if he and Rika were friends, and Tim wasn't entirely sure how to reply. He had only just met the girl a minute ago. They were acquaintances at best, but he didn't want to sound rude by saying no outright. He started feeling flustered trying to come up with an answer. He started stuttering again, wringing his hands, and avoided making eye contact with anyone. "Um... well... uh... I dunno... um... I mean... we just met... but... um... eh?!"

Makoto stood by a wall near the cafeteria area, seeing that the tables have been taken. Having sat through the opening ceremony earlier gave him something to smirk at. "It's so much like what I'd expect from the Principal." He said to himself as he opened a bento box that he brought with him from home, which consisted of mainly rice, grilled steak, chicken, and vegetables. Being a chef at the family's restaurant, he made his own lunch thanks to his cooking skills. "Yo Makoto! I see that your lunches are as extravagant as ever!" A voice rang out towards Makoto as he had taken his chopsticks and was about to grab a piece of vegetable. He turned his head towards the direction where the voice was coming from. "Hey Yamato, I guess it is a little extravagant." Makoto said as he saw a guy with short brown hair combed and spiked off to the side, wearing the school's uniform. Yamato is one of the few friends that he has still going to this day. One that is outgoing, and a fun person to be with, not to mention understanding.

The two friends started talking while eating, Yamato had bought some drinks for both of them. "So yeah, the break was kind of dull, meeting my lonely grandmother. It gives me shivers just thinking about it. Let me guess though, you've been kept busy over at your place right?" Yamato said with a smirk. Makoto smirked back. "Yeah, I've been kept busy. It's been a lot busier during the day than it was in the evening. I'm not even sure if it will slow down." Makoto answered. Yamato leaned back towards the wall with his gaze scanning across the cafeteria in deep thought. "So, this is going to be our last year here. After this, we're off on our own huh? I wonder what I'm going to do after this? Maybe I can go to Tokyo or something like that." Yamato said with a deep tone. Makoto thought about this as well and drew a small sigh.

"Well, we just got to do with what most we can of this year, I'm certain that you will have something after all of this." Makoto said as he finished his lunch. "Heh, easy for you to say, after all of this you got stuff over at your place, working full time there. Anyways, you hear 'bout the rumors? Looking at a certain fountain at a park during midnight and you'll see your future? Maybe I'll go check that out just for fun." Yamato asked, laughing a bit on the idea. Makoto's thoughts on it though, wasn't pleasant. "I'd rather that you don't go there. It's bad enough that we got police running around with the disappearance. It's dangerous out there, as well as getting into trouble for sneaking out past curfew." Makoto interjected in a stern tone. Yamato saw there and grinned, waving his hands side to side to try and calm Makoto down. "Hey, I was joking, like I'd believe the whole future seeing thing and all. Hahaha..." Yamato said with a small laugh, at which Makoto sighed with an apology as they got back to talking about other stuff while drinking.

Rika nodded to the black haired boy as he introduced himself. "Naganori Tadayoshi...Naganori Tadayoshi...Naganori Tadayoshi..." She said it aloud three times, trying to memorize it. She was never any good with names. "Well, nice to meet you Naganori!" She began to stare at him a moment, and looked up and down at him. Just as she looked like she was about to say something, one of Tim's awkward stutters cut her off.

"Um... I'm Tim..."

Rika looked over to him and smiled. She was glad that he was talking at least. "Nice to meet you Tim!" After she introduced herself, she furrowed her eyebrows a moment. Hrm, Tim is it... I wonder if his last name is Smith? Actually, is Tim short for Timothy? She continued to ponder on mostly trivial things, drumming her fingers. Until the new black haired boy broke her out of her thoughts.

"Are... you two friends?" Naganori asked, looking at the two of them.

Rika was about to chime in, but to her surprise Tim answered first. "Um... well... uh... I dunno... um... I mean... we just met... but... um... eh?!" She chuckled a bit at his mess of an answer. Though, feeling a little sorry for Tim, she picked up the question. "Naw, we're both new here. This is my first year here, same with Tim." She gestured to him as she said his name. "Oh yeah by the way guys, what do you think of our homeroom teacher?" She asked the other two, with genuine interest as to what they thought.

The first person to respond to his question was the boy, although he spoke in stutters, and rather awkwardly. "Um... well... uh... I dunno... um... I mean... we just met... but... um... eh?!" He said while showing clear signs of being under pressure. Naganori wasn't sure what exactly he had done to make the guy nervous, but nonetheless the girl managed to pull him through by answering for him.

"Naw, we're both new here. This is my first year here, same with Tim." She replied. "I see. This is my first year in Hirameki too." Nagnori said. "Oh yeah by the way guys, what do you think of our homeroom teacher?" Rika piped up. Naganori thought about it for a moment. "Oh, huh... Well, he's very different from the teachers I know. But he doesn't seem like he's one to fool around either, which is strange considering his attire" He replied, referencing the Roman Helmet he always seemed to have.

He wondered what these two thought however, and so looked at them and waited for their responses as he continued nibbling away at his food.

Shinji still couldn't wrap his head around that opening ceremony. Could of been worse, Last year they built a bowling lane and had him throw out 'the opening strike'. Which resulted in a 7-10 split. He was fairly sure the Principle still gives him an occasional dirty look over that one.

As he pulled out his lunch of a tomato and cucumber sandwich, small bag of potato chips, and a can of orange juice. Shinji had sat along with some of the people he knew from the bowling program. They were talking about the first meeting that would be coming up in a week. Some of the students who were interested, it felt like random talk about whatever and nothing in particular. Finally though one of Shinji's teammates piped up with something... interesting? "Hey Shinji, Did you hear the rumors? If you go to the fountain in the park and look into it at midnight, you can see into the future!"

Shinji just quietly looked at the person, debating if they're now still friends or not.

"That is ridiculous. Whoever told you that owes you an apology for something so goofy." Shinji calmly said, shaking his head with a smirk. Though before any of the others could chime in with something on the rumor. A girl had strolled up next to Shinji, looking quite awkward before finally she bowed her head and extended out with both hands a small box of chocolate. "Shinji... I was just wondering if you'd like to go out with me tonight? I thought we could see a movie?" Her voice shook just a little as Shinji silently groaned internally. Couldn't he get past the first day without this? "Uh... actually I'm working at the alley tonight. Sorry." Shinji shrugged with a small smile to try and relax her break. But like it had happened so many times before. Shinji watched the girl seemingly lose her self esteem as she drooped her head. "Oh well... maybe another time?" Before Shinji could answer she left the box of chocolate next to Shinji and seemed to scatter away. Shinji sighed as he looked at the box before shoving it over so the others could dig into it. Which they did almost immediately. Shinji personally couldn't figure out which was worse. The fact his done that so many times, or the fact his getting used to it?
