Why was she staring at him like that? Her gaze made Fionn feel more apprehensive as he looked into her violet eyes with fear. His trembling didn’t cease in the slightest, even if she had remained silent. She’s probably thinking of different ways to get rid of me. Sonya isn’t one to put up with my sort of crap. he thought, dropping his fearful gaze to the floor. Maybe if he ignored her, she would go away… His hopes were thwarted when she suddenly grabbed hold of his shoulder and pushed him down the street that she had just had just been on. Fionn yelped as he almost lost his balance a second time, but he regained his balance after a few moments of staggering about. ”Daisuke’s house?” he echoed as he glanced back at Sonya. ”Why are we going there?’

It wasn’t like he had anything against Daisuke. He was a friendly fellow who seemed to brighten up the day with his smile. While the Asian boy seemed like a huge idiot at times, Fionn could tell that he was more than just a fool. He knew that he was going to be the type of friend that one could lean on. And even if he was a little too obnoxious at times, he was much better than most of the boys that he knew at school. Fionn thought about his friend as he made his way over to his house, perking up when Sonya called Jak. Jak’s here? His eyes darted around, but he could not find the dark-haired girl anywhere. ”Where’s Jak?” he asked the tutor, frowning at her with a confused expression on his face.
By the time that Daisuke was greeting his father, Cyril had already finished using the bathroom. He stood at the top of the stairway, covering his mouth as he yawned. How he wished that he could have gotten a better night’s rest… Then again, how exactly was he supposed to sleep when his aunt was possibly being tortured, or even worse? He shuddered as he walked down the stairs and into the kitchen, glancing over at Daisuke and his father. He was surprised to see that Daisuke was not his hyperactive self as he addressed Hajime, but he didn’t bother questioning him about it. He wasn’t even sure if Daisuke would give him a direct answer.

Cyril was dragged out of his daze when he heard Hajime speak up again. He had taken a seat at the head of the kitchen table, stating that he contacted Sonya and told her to bring the candidates over to Daisuke’s house. It seemed like they were going to search for a solution at last… if it were up to him, he would have made everyone come over the night before and not have waited until morning. They wasted valuable time. Then again, they shouldn’t just rush into things, right? They couldn’t have done anything significant overnight…

After a while of standing, Cyril finally decided to take a seat at the table as well. He sat a few seats away from Hajime just in case Sonya or anyone else wanted to sit next to him. He clasped his hands on the table in front of him, his eyes staring at the texture of the table. To others, he seemed to be fascinated with the material that made up the table, but instead, he was deep in thought. He wasn’t sure if he should even speak to Hajime. Then again, he should at least display his gratitude…

”Thanks.” Cyril told Hajime after clearing his throat. He turned his gaze toward the older Asian man as he spoke, trying not to show that he was nervous, or even worse, scared. ”I mean… thank you for letting me stay. If you hadn’t let me in, I wouldn’t have known where to go.” He had to admit, the thought of roaming the streets at night with someone after you terrified him. Cyril would have probably been like a grounded bird to a famished cat if he had not found somewhere to stay for the rest of the night.

After a few seconds passed, Hajime was approached by the sleeping girl who had been one with their floor only mere moments ago. Despite his awareness of her identity, he was comfortable to listen to the girl introduce herself to him; it was a clear showing of respect (or so he hoped), especially since he was the owner of the house. In Japan, that type of deferential behavior was a lifestyle that was one of, if not, the first lesson taught to children, unlike the seemingly dying morals in other countries such as America. "Protection for your family, huh?" the man repeated, looking down at her extended hand that awaited for his acceptance.

The Vongola Famiglia had been built upon the principles of protecting the people, and Hajime was not an exception of that knowledge. He knew that, if requested, that they would have done so anyway, but personally, he was humble in her display of admiration for her own family. Practically exchanging a portion of her life to dedicate herself to the Vongola just for them to provide the service that they were already known for doing from their selfless hearts was something that he could relate to; he, too, had done the same, many years ago, yet... I still haven't forgotten, Satomi. I was powerless...

Hajime decided to shake Artemis' hand. "Of course," he replied, his bored expression unchanged. "You pass."

Even then, Hajime was inevitably suspicious of the girl. Any person with mediocre intelligence that could rival an empty peanut jar would be able to deduce the possibility in potential subterfuge, but for men like him, he was smart enough to recognize the deception before it would begin. He knew of the girl's background; how she was a budding expert in cracking through technology, how she had used it for her own criminal exploits in the past. Though, a number of people in the Vongola were formerly criminals, as well..

And even then, they already possessed a number of men and women within the Vongola that possessed such skills that had much more experience with technology, and their connections to other families, notably the Bovino, was more than enough. Who knows. Maybe Giannini or Irie need an assistant. "But you'll be sticking around with the other kids," Hajime advised, letting go of the handshake and folding his arms as he turned back to the table. "You're all still too inexperienced to be considered part of the Vongola, anyway."

As if on cue, another person walked up to him; this time, it was Cyril. "It's not an issue," Hajime replied flatly, sighing. "The real issue that needs to be discussed is last night's incident. I'll speak more when the rest arrive."

Jak, listening to Sonya speak to Fionn, she heard a phone beep and Sonya rapidly change the subject. Apparently they were going to Daisuke's house now. She decided to wait there for a bit until they left... "C'mon, we need to go to Daisuke's house. You too Jak." Jake seized up, her face turning red at being found out. At least Fionn's not that perceptive... Jak thought as she left her hiding place. Hopefully they wouldn't be too mad. At least Sonya didn't sound angry...

"Sorry, I didn't want to interrupt your conversation. So, I, uh.... hid. I didn't really hear anything, except that we were going to Daisuke's house. So... I wasn't hiding all that long." Jak said, deciding that lying once was enough for today. Even if it was a partial lie. She was nervous, but mostly about being caught red-handed. What did you think would happen? Sonya wouldn't notice? She kicked everyone flat on their backs in a few seconds. Well, at least she managed to fool Fionn, that had to count for something, considering he had the ability to just blend in no matter what.
Artemis swallowed, fearful that he would refuse after musing over her offer. It was a thing the mafia didn't do often, probably, and not to mention they had to ensure that her Dad and Mom were safe. Her mother would be tricker, as she was still bedridden when Arty had left. A pang of homesickness ran through her, but she covered it up quickly. She couldn't show fear. Mafioso probably smelled fear, and maybe other strange things. The Dying Will Flames... why can these guys summon them, what do they mean?

"Of course," Haijme replied at last, his bored expression giving nothing away. "You pass."

Artemis stared at him for a moment. What did she pass? As she stared at him, as though mere looks would help her understand what he meant. Then he said that she'd be staying with the other kids, and she slowly nodded. It wasn't like she was even expecting to be able to head for the HQ right away. Especially given her... past. It didn't matter, those politicians and other groups didn't need all that money anyway. They were fine. After a moment, Artemis realized her hand had been hanging in the air while Haijme talked the brown haired crying boy from last night.

"I'm.... just gonna go get some breakfast," Arty said awkwardly, breaking the tension that had been in the room by sliding out to grab whatever was left of the pancakes.

Naoto chuckled lightly at Abby's response, probably his most genuine laugh in the past few days. Though he partially hoped she wasn't too serious. He felt that these relaxed moments are gonna be more previous than ever. Abby alerted him to the ringing coming from his pocket. "Hm? Who's calling me?" Naoto only ever got calls regarding the soccer team and his mother, the latter being when he's in trouble. Looking at the caller ID his worry off it being his mom vanished and was replaced with curiosity as to who the unfamiliar number is. "Ciao?" He said answering the phone. "How'd you get my number!? Connections-uh...mom...right, stupid question..."

The call was fairly short consisting of Naoto trying to question the caller only to be cut off and ending with a defeated sigh. Putting his cell away he turned to Abby and Ben. "Looks like break time's over. Sonya wants us to meet at Daisuke's. Don't ask why she said she'd explain once everyone was there..." Raising his voice he called out to Prospero behind them. "Oi, roomy! We're heading to Daisuke's!" Naoto started toward the street Sonya told him since he'd never been to the thunder guardians place.

Prospero's reaction to being called out to was a strange mixture of a twitching spasm and suddenly sticking bolt upright, his tophat nearly falling off of his head before he scrambled to catch it and hastily put it back in place. Obviously without the help of his illusions he wasn't nearly as stealthy as he had initially hoped. what followed this revelation was a series of mental and emotional stages, beginning with surprise at being spotted at all, then anger at himself for being foolish enough to get spotted by someone so easily, then just embarrassment as he realized what a fool he must look like sneaking around in plain view, in a rare moment of non-arrogant self-consciousness.

The end result of this was a lot of spluttering, a slight amount of mask-hidden blushing and then angrily shouting "Fine, but you guys better not leave me behind got it!?" then a lot of quickly racing after Naoto and presumably the others while having even less of an idea of how to get to the thunder guardian's house than any of the rest. He had to run regardless given the shortness of his legs, though it at least gave him an excuse for the cape to flutter dramatically as he ran without using illusions to do it.

'Oh my god, he is totes adorbs!' Abby mentally squealed when she saw Prospero get embarrassed over his failed attempt to be sneaky. She giggled under her breath while she followed her boss and Ben to Daisuke's house. She briefly wondered why they were meeting there. Usually they would go to Naoto's house to train but maybe they weren't doing that today (which actually would be fantastic). "I wonder what Sonya needs to tell us." She voiced her thoughts as they neared what she assumed was Daisuke's home. It was pretty quaint and looked a lot nicer than the farmhouse she was living in. The blond was actually kind of jealous.

A lady opened the door and gave them all a lovely smile before ushering all of them inside. She lead them all to the dining room where Abby was quite surprised to see Hajime sitting at the head of the table. Sitting beside him was Sonya as well as Daisuke. Further down the table sat Artemis, Jakki, Fionn and-

"Cyril? Are you okay?" Abby asked. The usually angry teen looked solemn and sleep deprived. Before she could comprehend her actions, the blond was already by his side with a concerned look on her face.

"Everyone take a seat." Sonya interrupted Cyril's answer as she gestured to the empty seats, "You can chat later." Abby quickly shut her mouth and took a seat, waiting for the rest of her friends to get settled. Once everyone was seated, the red-haired woman turned her attention to the man sitting at the head of the table with the rest of the room following her gaze.

It didn’t take long for all of the Guardians to gather in Daisuke’s kitchen. Before Cyril knew it, Sonya arrived with Fionn and Jak, and Naoto arrived with Prospero, Ben, and Abby. The group of boys and girls wandered around the kitchen table and he watched them with a solemn face. Now wasn’t the time to argue and bitch about them taking so long to get to the Lightning Guardian’s home. At least they were there, right? They would able to discuss how to get his aunt back from the demon that had taken her away. She would be back at her home, safe and sound, before he knew it. Cyril’s fingers curled inward, his hands beginning to form fists as he hoped that that would be the case. He was torn from his thoughts when a feminine voice piped up next to him, questioning if whether or not he was okay. His dark eyes flicked up to Abby. Why is she concerned about me? She should just sit down and listen to what Hajime has to say.

Then again, Cyril wasn’t about to brush her off and tell her to mind her own business. He needed her help to get his aunt back. Then again, he needed everyone’s help. There was no way that he was going to be able to fight against the menace that threatened his aunt’s safety on his lonesome. Even though he was born and raised in the mafia, he had little to no experience in fighting, and often lost the battles he got himself into. The Storm Guardian candidate sighed before opening his mouth to answer Abby’s query, but he was interrupted by Sonya’s demands. His gaze drifted over to the red-haired woman, and then Hajime. He knows that we have to act quickly. Hajime’s an experienced member of the mafia. He can’t take this as a joke. While Cyril held his deadpanned expression rather nicely, he felt himself begin to tremble slightly. His mind was racing as he thought about all of the things that that bastard could be doing to Velia. She was always a delicate flower, more of a housewife than someone who could actually put up a fight. It wouldn’t be that hard to end her life. And Cyril knew that her captor was aware of that. One wrong move, and it’s over.

Fionn wondered what was going on. He was suddenly taken to Daisuke’s house and told to listen to Hajime. The blond-haired boy knew that this wasn’t going to be a simple training session; they were going to Daisuke’s place for another reason. Once or twice, Fionn was tempted to ask Sonya what was happening, but he wasn’t sure if she would put up with such a stupid question, especially if she didn’t know the answer. However, he could tell that it was something serious. Sonya’s expression and tone of voice said it all.

He swallowed roughly as he took a seat amongst the rest of the Guardians, his eyes flicking over the boys and girls who stared at Hajime with anticipation. Something’s really wrong. he told himself, leaning against the back of the seat as he waited for Hajime to speak.

"Now that we have all gathered, allow me to hold your attention for a few moments as I explain the premise of this meeting."

Hajime cupped his hands together as his eyelids slanted, a pair of resolute viridescent irises peering towards no individual in particular.

"I apologize for the lack of a prior warning, but this is an emergency assembly based around the events of last night," Hajime explained as he removed the folded letter from his pocket and passed it to the person towards his right, cupping his hands as he ignored the fresh plate of breakfast sitting in front of him. "Typically, Sonya will arrange these councils and I would not be present, but as mentioned before, this is an emergency."

Hajime's gloomy expression contrasted the seemingly joyous bunch, and as the letter was passed from one individual to another, he watched as each smile slowly morphed into distress and fear. "As each of you come to possess the letter that I have passed on to the next, you will see that we have an issue; simply put, Cyril's aunt has been kidnapped."

After waiting a few moments to read the scattered reactions along the table, Hajime continued. "Last night, I returned to the headquarters of the Vongola to seek a possible compromise with Decimo in order to secure Miss Leggieri's release from her captors, but there has been an... unexpected development," he cringed at his own emphasis on desperation, biting his tongue. "Vongola Decimo has declined my request for assistance on this matter, and has placed the responsibility into your hands, as well as voiding my direct involvement to aid you."

Sitting on the seat towards Hajime's left, Daisuke began to tremble, paralyzed with fear after receiving the letter last. "Dad..." he stuttered a few times before producing the one-syllable address. "Does that mean... you can't..."

"Yes," Hajime replied, seemingly painful to respond. "That means that in the instance where she is to be rescued, I am not allowed to assist in said rescue."

"But, we're just kids!" Daisuke said, scratching is neck nervously. "We can't... fight people from the mafia... they'll kill us!"

Hajime closed his eyes in frustration. "He has also ordered that Sonya be unable to directly influence the outcome of her rescue, but as your tutor, she will be your trainer."

Daisuke returned the letter to his father with frantic hands, slowly picking at the foundation of his breakfast as his fearful eyes focused on the surface of the table. "Vongola Decimo has stated his reasoning as a means of preparing you, the candidates, for your futures as the eleventh generation guardians of the family. His resolve is absolute and unarguable..."

Hajime opened his eyes and clicked through the interface of his watch, the final click enlarging the screen to a hologram display as they were greeted by the Vongola Famiglia's emblem. He swiped through numerous screens before arriving at a particular display titled, "Database", and proceeded to load it onto the hologram. From a previous search, the life-size body of a mafioso appeared as a three-dimensional model, the hologram of the boy projected from the watch spinning slowly to show his physical appearance.

Beside the hologram, was a small profile that included his name, family of association, age, weight, and the like.

VONGOLA DATABASE ENTRY |VC0710-2015| said NAME: VINCENTE CLETO

"From the traces of biological evidence left behind that I have collected, this is the individual that is responsible for the kidnapping the Cyril's aunt," Hajime looked past the hologram and at each of the children's faces. "By any chance, have any of you seen this boy recently?"

Abby's hands were shaking as she handed the letter Cyril obviously read a thousand times, horrified by both its contents and the way it was written. However, the cause of her terror were Hajime's words. What was the Tenth Boss thinking? They were just a group of teenagers and barely any of them actually knew some sort of self defense. Now he was commanding them to save Cyril's aunt from some crazed lunatic? Sonya had described the mysterious man as kind-hearted and a great leader, but all Abby could imagine him now was insane.

Sonya, on the other hand, had pursed her lips into a tight, thin line. Anger was building up inside her, not just because someone had dared to drag a civilian into mafia business, but that she was denied to directly aid her students. Sitting on the sidelines was something Sonya Dmitriev was not used to whatsoever. As a former mercenary and hitwoman, she was used to being the first one on the battlefield. That way of thinking was difficult to change, especially since her recent career change was still fresh on her mind. Yet, these were the Tenth's orders. If he wanted her to train those kids, she was going to train the hell out of them.

All thoughts were cut short when Hajime revealed an image of the kidnapper via hologram. To say the room was shocked was definitely an understatement as it took a few seconds for everyone to register the familiar face.

It was Abby who broke the silence as she jumped out of her seat and slammed her hands on the wooden dining table. "That's the nerd guy from the other day!" She screamed. Sonya's rage flared up even more as she stared at the cocky expression of Vincente Cleto. She knew he looked familiar when she first laid eyes on him. Yet she decided to ignore her gut feeling and allow him to socialize with the 11th Vongola candidates. As the room filled with panicked chatter, the red-head stood up, her domineering presence silencing the room in an instant.

"We have one week." She began, "One week until this idiot becomes too restless and decides to do something rash. During this week, I will train all of you to your very limits. Even if one of you breaks, I will not stop your training. If any of you are having second thoughts, get out. Leave this Familigia and we will never contact you ever again. We do not have time for hesitation."

Sonya's words hung heavy in the air as she allowed them to sink in to each and every candidate. Finally, after a long minute, she gave one final question.

"So, is anyone leaving?"

Jak watched as they passed around the paper and looked at it. As she read the profane -and frankly insulting- language, Jak shuddered at the idea that someone could be so vile and repulsive naturally. You're lucky he didn't go after Mom... I don't think she'd make it... the kidnapping might be too much for her after all that happened? Do you think you can protect her? The questions weighed heavily on her mind, so much so that she nearly missed the hologram display of Micheal. Or Vincente apparently. She didn't think he could be a bad guy, but look where she was now.

She passed on the paper, crossing her arms and leaning over the table. Who was to say that Naoto wasn't secretly like Vincente? Who was to say if she'd thrown in her lot with the wrong crowd or not? Jak could practically hear her mother now, if only Dad could see you now, hanging out with wanted criminals and mafioso, preparing to take down an assassin. Then again, who's fault is it that he's not around anymore? The thought made her sick to her stomach.

Then Sonya mentioned withdrawing from the mafia.

Jak started to move her arms to run away from the table, to grow old and support her mother like she planned. Then she wondered what Naoto would think. As she looked at Naoto, she realized that he'd trusted her somewhat during the practice sparring. He thought that she could do something worthwhile. "When you join something, it's bigger than yourself. You have to devote yourself wholeheartedly or not at all. No back and forth, Jak. Plant yourself in the middle of the storm and ride it out, no matter what. If it's important, then you'll be happier for it."

"This is insane." Jak answered the memory quietly. "We can't fight an assassin in a week. I don't...," she paused, sniffling, "I don't wanna die... I can't leave Mom..."
Artemis was passed the note, and after a quick read, she slammed it down and yelled, "this guy put a gun to my head and insulted me to boot. I was right about the assassin! Yer all idiots for not listenin' to me earlier!" if there was anything Artemis liked more than computers, it was being right. And she was right about the assassin and the mafia going after her and... she quietly realized that she'd pissed off someone this connected and powerful. There was no happy coincidence when he showed up in her hotel room.

He was honestly going to kill her. "Fuck, I nearly gave him your address, Naoto...," Artemis realized quietly. Just as quickly as she'd realized this, she stood and moved the chair out of her way. "May the lamb of God stir his hoof through the roof of heaven and kick this Vincente in the arse down to hell!" she cursed. Then she turned to the group and spoke again, hoping they could at least understand her meaning if not the words. "He needs a proper thrashing, and I think you guys can do it. He's just an arse who's full of hot air."

She didn't show that her nails were digging into her palm as she said inspirational words. If they failed she was as good as dead. He swore the next time she saw him she'd be dead, and without the Vongola, she was done for. She was putting all the chips in, whether or not she liked it. She had to hope for the best, but she could shake the worst possible conclusion.

Ben followed easily enough behind Naoto towards Daisuke's house. Normally he wouldn't bother running but he'd began respecting Sonya as a tutor and wiser than himself, so he'd take her word on urgency. Once he was there, he dropped his bag at the door and gathered around the table with the others, noting Cyril's distress and Hajime's solemn look. But they again, Hajime always looked solemn. What's going on, anyways?" he pondered. Suspicion was confirmed when Hajime announced that it was an emergency council. The note he was handed was despicable. Vulgarity was entirely unnecessary. And this was all because of a grudge!? Because Cyril left the Birra!? What kind of kid was Michael, rather, Vinciente? Sonya's words only emboldened Benjamin. Family was important. He might not have the best one but Cyril didn't warrant losing what Ben didn't have. Jak set him back but the energy coming from Artemis as she babbled in English reignited him.
"We need to do this." he said, his simplicity not exactly matching the moment. He wasn't one to call for action, and not one for speeches, but the bark in his voice when he spoke should've have been enough.

Prospero contented himself with quietly listening while the others talked and taking a quick scan of the note as the news of Cyril's aunt's kidnapping spread around the group. The note was a nasty piece of work, all taunts and idiocy as far as he could see. The fact that the Tenth Vongola Boss had decided to make this a challenge should probably have seemed a lot more messed up, but it did make some sense to the young magician. If Naoto's little part of the Famiglia couldn't protect itself against a single assassin, how was it supposed to be capable of leading the whole organization? If Naoto were already the leader, an attack on the family of one of his guardians would not only be an expected threat, it would be exactly the dirty kind of challenge he would be required to respond to with full strength, or else risk the entire family looking weak and losing power. Better have us sink or swim now while the impact of us losing would be relatively small, guess...and if Naoto fails well...

He would have thought to himself that if Naoto failed there could always be some other candidate to take his place, that it was just understandable pragmatism, no different than anything else he'd come to know in his short time hunting through the criminal underworld. But Prospero had cast his lot in with Naoto the second he'd agreed to become his Guardian, hadn't he? So if Naoto lost this challenge and died, all of his efforts would be for nothing. As things stood, Naoto was his best chance. Speaking of which, there was the matter of that Birra assassin...

He could be the one considering his age and the notes about all those murders...if he isn't the one he might know who is, scum sticks to scum after all. In that case, the best way to know will be beating it out of him, and if he is the right one well even more reason to become strong. Coming to Trespiano, allying myself with these people...but I thought it would still take years..."...Could he really be so close?"

Prospero hadn't even realized he had said anything out loud, or that he'd clenched his fists and was now shaking violently from head-to-toe with a very odd gleam in his eyes. At the moment he wasn't even seeing the others anymore, just the holographic image of Vicente and a scene from years and years ago, burning into his brain.

On the outside Naoto was silent, his head low and his body still. However, on the inside he was flooded with emotion. That edition began to leak out as his hand began to tremble and he crumbled the letter in his shaking fist. Anger, fear, anxiety and even understanding all filled him. He was angry at Vicente for what he's done but he was even more furious with himself for not saying something when the mafioso appeared as Michael. Naoto knew from moment he saw him that he was dangerous and as he looked at the the true form of their enemy he realized why. Bloodlust. Vicente's tourist act diminished its presence but it was there and it was prominent even in his image. And Naoto let him slip away and drag an innocent person into it all.

As angry as he was his fear was what really caused his trembling. Vector, Sonya, Prospero. They all have shown a power that he never knew existed in the mafia, in this world. He was lucky to beat Prospero and and he was spared fighting the Vector from ten years ago by the time limit of the bazooka. While Prospero only had the intention of trying him he knew Vicente would kill them all without a second thought. Why he didn't before was a mystery but fact that he chose not to at the theater made him even more frightening. He's confident he can kill us at any time. If he can do the kind of things Vector can then he's right. Even with training we might still be walking into a death trap...Decimo...Tsuna. I understand. Why you won't help us. I don't like it but I can't be mad either. Mom and Sonya both talk about you do highly. You probably wouldn't send us in if you didn't think we could do it... Naoto was trying to resolve himself but it was futile. He was still shaking. He smiled slightly thinking it was natural for him to be nervous. It didn't change the fact that he wasn't gonna sit by and let Vicente do as he pleases-

"I don't wanna die..."

Naoto's eyes widened in shock hearing Jak utter those words. He had thought about the possibility of them dying but to hear it voiced shook him to his core. Jak...I can't pretend like I'm not terrified too. Not as much for me as... Finally, Naoto stood and crossed the room. Walking up to Cyril he grabbed him by the collar and pulled him from his seat. "Cyril...I want you to say it? Say that you need our help. Don't think I'm trying to make you beg or anything. But if I'm going to be able to resolve myself to this fight I need to hear how much you care for your aunt in your voice." Naoto hadn't raised his head until now. His eyes showed his strong determination but it was clear he needed that lay push. "I know what it's like to lose someone close to you. I've also seen the pain out causes from the other side. I'll do whatever I can to keep that from happening again." His eyes drifted to Jak briefly.

"Like Sonya said before I don't have s choice. This time it's because I can't let myself run away from this." Speaking to the others Naoto remembered their first encounter with Sonya and the news she came with. "I know Cyril is going no matter what. I'm...completely out of my league and I'm more scared than I've ever been in my life. You didn't have to show up at my house that first day but...I'm actually glad you did. Just like then you don't have to come and really I wouldn't ask you to. So, whatever you choose..." Naoto turned around and gave them all a big grin. "Thanks for coming this far with me~"

I probably wouldn't have lasted this long if you all hadn't...

Fionn stared at the letter for what seemed like an eternity. His mind couldn’t process the malicious words on the sheet of paper at first—he had to read it a few more times in order to fully understand the letter. The person who wrote it had to be insane; they drifted off from the topic several times and started to blabber on about nonsense. When he finished reading the paper, he allowed it to be pulled out of his hands. What...? That was one of the words that crossed his mind, along with many others. All he knew was that he was terrified. He hadn’t fought anyone except for his brother, and Reiner often beat him in brawls. How the heck was he supposed to be useful if he couldn’t even fight?

A panicked chatter surrounded the table, and Fionn felt more horrified than he already was. They were just kids, and they were supposed to fight a person who could probably kill all of them in the blink of an eye. He began to tremble as his eyes drifted over the faces of the boys and girls that surrounded them. Jak looked like she was about to cry, Abby was definitely angry. Ben and Prospero seemed to be prepared to leap into battle that very instant. His amber-colored eyes drifted over to Sonya. I can just leave, right? If I do, I won’t be bothered by them again. I’ll live a peaceful life…

Then Naoto spoke up. Fionn blinked in surprise at his words, his gaze dropping back to his lap. Something told him that he should just get up and leave, that he would die if he stuck around. Yet… Naoto needed him. He was always there for him when he screwed something up, and now the roles were switched. Naoto needed him… no, he needed all of them to be a family. He bit the inside of his cheek and looked up at the pink-haired boy. ”I’m staying, too.” his voice was low and shaky, but it was enough to be heard. ”We have to get Cyril’s aunt back.”

Even though he was trembling, he knew that he made the right choice. Even though he was currently useless, he knew that he would get better. Yet, he couldn’t do anything about the panic that was rising in his chest. God help me.
Hajime’s words chilled Cyril to the bone, but he was determined not to show that he was afraid. They would have to fight against Vincente alone, without the help of Hajime or Sonya. If only they could have helped. he thought, his hands curling into fists. If they did, we would have been on our way to get my aunt back. Yet, Sonya was only going to train them. He knew that the training sessions were going to become more intense and frequent, and that it was going to be a tough, sleepless week. There was no way that they could become skilled fighters in a week. They only had to be decent enough to beat Vincente back to whatever hole he crawled out of.

Someone grabbed at his collar, yanking him out of his chair. An annoyed scowl crossed his lips as he glowered at Naoto. ”What do you think you’re doing?” he snapped, grabbing Naoto’s wrists in an attempt to pry him off of him. ”Let me go!”

When Cyril’s eyes met Naoto’s, his anger began to fade. His words made him blink in surprise. He wanted him to tell him that he needed their help, that he had to hear how much he cared for his aunt so he could be able to resolve himself. The dark-haired boy didn’t know how to feel at the moment, but he knew that he wanted his aunt back, safe and sound. It’s my fault that she got taken away. I just wanted to get away from the mafia… yet they came after me.

”I need your help.” Cyril said, his eyes locked onto Naoto’s. That was all he said. He didn’t know how to give a small speech like most of the others had; he never liked to be the center of attention. But he was sure that he had gotten his point across with those four words.

Was she really going to just bail out now because it was going to be so risky? Was she going to really leave them without her help? She was the only Rain Guardian and her just abandoning Naoto and the others was unthinkable... but so was fighting this crazed lunatic. They were all bad options and frankly... abandoning the group seemed like it was the most viable. Even if it went against all of her morals to just ditch the group when the going got hard. There were no good choices here, and she knew it. It was die and fight, or run and hide. Jak father would not be proud of her in this moment. He wouldn't be proud of her at all, quivering and whimpering the way she was. Why did she have to even join this gang anyway? She knew what she was getting into on day one but why was she so ignorant to pretend away the reality of the situation. Mafia members fought. Whether or not with guns was irrelevant. Vincente had been trained for this from day one. Jak was just some hick with a chance to be in the mafia.

Jak was rocked from her stupor by Naoto grabbing Cyril and shaking him. He asked if he wanted them to help. I had almost forgotten... she'd been so wrapped up in her own worries that she'd forgotten about Cyril's aunt. Was she going to just her? Like she had with Dad? Naoto's speech went over her head as she stood up. "For better or worse, I'm in." even as she said the words she needed to hold onto the table. She'd only felt this way a few times before. The buzz of excitement and nervousness that came before her old karate matches. It was great, if not terrifying.

She wanted to fix this, at least. She couldn't fix that Cyril's aunt was kidnapped, she couldn't help that she'd been chosen for this role, but damn it she was going to stop Vincente even if it killed her. Which it probably was, but honestly she didn't think about that. She was going to at least try this time and not run away. She had to, because if she didn't, then no one would. Her realization and renewal of her resolve made her realize that her almost crying almost drive some people to running away.

Except for the English girl who was weirdly shouting something inspirational at the group. Jak didn't understand what she was saying, so she ignored her for the time being. "What's the plan?"

The room was in an uproar when Sonya asked them if they would choose to stay in the Vongola Familigia or not. Abby herself had had doubts beforehand but knew she could not leave if that meant leaving behind an innocent civilian, even if she didn't have the strength to help. She'd do her best to give as much support to Cyril and the others. It was difficult for Abby to keep up with all the conversations going around her, but certain people stood up. Artemis, of course, was one of them since Abby was one of the few people who actually understood her. Yet the blond still could not make heads or tails out of what the Brit was saying...

To Abby's surprise, Naoto stood up after a few moments and walked over to her side of the table. Before she could even register what he was going to do, he grabbed Cyril's shirt collar and aggressively pulled him off his seat. "Naoto, stop!" She cried out but Naoto cut her off with his request for Cyril to ask for their help. As simple as that request sounded, everyone knew it would take everything for Cyril to swallow his pride. Yet, without missing a beat, the dark-haired teen asked for everyone's help. Abby's jaw almost fell open when she heard those words fall out of his mouth. But it obviously spoke volumes as the people who had shown previous hesitancy found resilience in their eyes. It was all Sonya needed to see before she cleared her throat, making everyone turn back to her.

"I will need some time to arrange each of your training regimens. It should only take a few hours." She announced as she pulled out her phone to look at the notes she had compiled on each candidate, "But in the mean time, I want each of you to run 10 laps around Trespiano. I have the route marked with numbered red arrows and don't try to cut corners. I will know." She allowed her instructions to sink in for a few minutes before releasing an intense glare.

"Go."

Abby immediately shot up when Sonya's violet gaze hit her and she ran out the door. She knew she shouldn't be complaining since Sonya supposedly knew what was best for their training but the blond couldn't help but let out a small whine when she thought she was out of ear shot. 10 laps around the town?! Who decides that's a good idea?!

Benjamin was surprised to say the least by Naoto and Cyril. He hadn't thought, in his short time, knowing the pink-haired boy, that he would be capable of such aggression. Ben had been sold very early on but it seemed Naoto needed further convincing. That was fine. But what he'd come to know of Cyril surprised him more. The whole time, the kid whined, moaned and insulted. Not really getting anything done by it either. But seeing him so vulnerable caused a sadness to pang in Ben's chest.

Once the fiasco was cleared and they were all determined to help Cyril's aunt, Sonya ruined any emotion present in the room just by clearing her voice. Perhaps someday Benjamin would be able to that. What came after wasn't terribly pleasant, but he hadn't expected it to be. He knew how she operated by now. Or at least how she operated with them. Ten laps? He wasn't exactly dressed for this but he should probably start doing so. He glanced at his square toed shoes and a small, impercievable frown brushed his face. He followed Abby right out the door though, tightening his belt and untucking his shirt. He kept pace behind the blonde girl just fine. His pace was longer so he didn't figure he'd have trouble keeping with the group that would form soon as the others got their senses and followed suit. His feet didn't hurt like he might have expected.
Yet.

Prospero shot up and launched himself out the door shortly after Benjamin did, even tossing his cape and his hat aside to start sprinting full speed around the town. He would do whatever it took to become strong enough to beat the tar out of this assassin and find out what he could about his own goals in the process...and if this Vicente turned out to be the person Prospero had been hunting after for all these years well...

Prospero pushed on and ran even faster, not caring that his clothes were completely impractical for it. If his goal was really so close, just ten laps weren't nearly enough! He would do twenty or thirty if that's what it took. He would learn to really fight and become the strongest illusionist in the world! Then, after they were finished with this assassin, Prospero would hunt down anyone and everyone connected with him until the person ultimately responsible for all the miseries of his life was revealed.

Once Prospero dragged that monster into the light, he would ensure that every bit of sorrow he'd experienced was repaid a thousandfold.

Jak watched as everyone started filing out of the room. "You know... we're not gonna be ready in just one week to fight Vincente, right? We're all just inexperienced kids... it's nice to pretend, but... if this does happen... I... I'm not sure I could be a criminal." Jaks said, quietly watching everyone filter out. Artemis went ahead, regardless if she was going to die before the end of the run and was already out of the room. "Sonya, are you sure about this? I mean, this.... Decimo guy sounds crazy." Jak stood and started to go outside, still worried, but looking back at Naoto and Cyril who were still in the room. "But, if you're going ahead with it, there's no point in giving up halfway."

"Never leave on a heavy note. Always try to joke, because you should never leave anywhere with your last words being angry or sad."

"I mean, we're all in this for better or worse, till death do us part. Like some kind of...." her joke was going very poorly. "Uhhh.... I'm gonna go run around Trespiano and try to forget that I just implied that we're all married." With that, Jak started lightly jogging outside.

This was it. Whether or not Cyril uttered his request for help didn't determine if Naoto was going after Vicente. However, it did determine his resolve and the strength he'll be able to bring to this fight. And if he had a chance of winning. As he waited for Cyril to speak Naoto could feel his turmoil. That alone was enough to tell him what he wanted to hear but he'd feel more confident taking on a trained assassin if it was voiced.

"I need your help."

Even though he had asked him to it was still Cyril and Naoto had to remember that he was awake. Still gripping Cyril's collar he realized his hand had stopped shaking. That's gotta be a good sign right? A relieved sigh escaped Naoto as he let go of Cyril and smirked. "Then I suggest you head home and tidy up. It'll be nice for your aunt to come back to a clean house." Naoto knew he shouldn't make it sound like they were guaranteed to succeed but a little positive thinking couldn't hurt.

"I'm staying too."

"For better or for worse. I'm in."

Turning to the others Naoto couldn't help but think they were all nuts. "Fionn...Jak..." The rest didn't need to say anything. Whether for their own reasons or to help Cyril it was clear by the expressions on their faces that they weren't going to back out. He gave them all a confident nod. "Alright. Let's make this week count and make Vicente regret letting us go and taking someone he shouldn't have!"

Sonya instantly dissolved the atmosphere and started giving orders, restoring the intimidating hierarchy that they all were reluctant to come to know. As she did Naoto couldn't help the thought that occurred to him. "Sonya, I know you were the one sent to train us for a reason but I don't think you'll be able to get all seven of us ready in time on your own. I'm sure you're good at what you do but we're not the kind of people you usually deal with." Naoto was silenty praying the red haired woman wouldnt take what he was saying the wrong way and throw him through a wall. "Mom will probably be glad to help...as strange as that thought is for me. And..." With a grimace Naoto looked at the last person he wanted to ask for help. As much as he can't stand him there was no denying that Vector was just strong as Sonya, if not, stronger. "What do you say Vector? Not like the Tenth is letting you do much else in this fight."

Naoto then turned to Artemis. "Hey, I need to ask something of you too. You're good with tech stuff right? Do you think you can make me a weapon? Personally I dont feel right handling something lethal like a gun or a sword."
