Name: Eira Lucas
Alias: Hatter
Age: 17
Personality: Eira is always getting distracted. She loves to start new projects, but never finishes them. She is always late to everything because of her distractible nature, finding herself wasting time often. Because of this and other coincidences in combination with her natural clumsiness, Eira is often in trouble. With her parents, with school, with friends, even the law before. Though she is hardly ever guilty of doing anything wrong on purpose, she is so naïve and easily persuaded on things she becomes involved in things she never meant to. She is very good about getting out of these situations though. She also rather enjoys poetry, though she’s been told she’s no good at it and that her rhymes make no sense. She can also turn her emotions on a dime. One minute she’s happy, the next sad over something not many would consider significant. This type of back and forth has often driven people away from her, unwilling to put up with her emotional rollercoaster of a personality. And if that doesn’t drive them away, her overly honest, blunt remarks can. Eira also falls easy to compliments (if you tell her she’s pretty or good at something, you’re her instant best friend).
Appearance:
Background: Eira grew up with a magician father, her mother having run off not long after she was born with another man. Eira’s father was eccentric. He was known as the loon of the town, but Eira didn’t know anything else was normal, so from the get go she was always a bit strange. One thing she and her father would always make time for was afternoon tea together. After she entered school, it was right when she got home. Her father couldn’t always be there for dinner because of his magic shows, so this was their bonding time.
Eira was certainly a daddy’s little girl. He loved her nonsense poetry and often asked her to recite it to him and her various stuffed animals who all had names as they sat round the table for tea. And some days her father would give her cakes with the tea simply because. She pestered him so much about why sometimes though, he’d claim it was because it was her birthday. When she would protest that it wasn’t, he would say it was her un-birthday. Which was just as special to him. He helped keep her a child even as she grew, sheltering her and letting her live in her fantasy lands she created in her mind, and never forcing her to grow up out of her ‘I want this now’ attitude.
When Eira was in high school, she entered a talent show. She originally planned on reciting poetry, but her English teacher suggested she do something else instead. So, Eira decided to sing. She wrote her own song and began to sing it every day after school. When the talent show came, she sang, and got laughed at. Pencils and books thrown at her. Devastated, she ran from the auditorium, looking for her father. He was at a show down at the local theater performing, so she ran all the way there. When she arrived, she raced inside, her father in the middle of a trick. She called out to him, causing him to get distracted, and accidentally sliced his own throat. Blood spurted everywhere, including on Eira. She stood in shock, as did most of the audience while her father crumpled to the stage.
When the ambulance and police arrived, Eira had picked up her father’s blood stained hat and put it atop her head, demanding someone clean up the big red mess. Since this time, Eira has been obsessed with keeping things clean, except the hat atop her head. She scrubs herself in the shower a few times a day. She cleans all of her tea cups and saucers between sips even. She’s teetering on the edge. The police recognized this and convinced her to go to the hospital, because well… everything was so clean there anyway. She obliged, as long as they had tea and cakes.
