I'm looking to GM a Stars Without Number campaign. Stars Without Number is an sandbox, sci-fi tabletop role playing game that puts the players in control of the story. The GM creates a sector filled with dozens of planets, factions, NPCs, etc. for the players to interact with, but doesn't create a main plot the players must follow.

Anyway, SWN takes place in the year 3200, over 500 years after the "Scream" devastated human civilization, killing or maddening every human psychic and plunging planets into a sudden isolation know as the "Silence." In the decades that followed, many worlds died off, unable to survive without the trade and assistance of their fellow colonies. Much of Pre-scream technology (pretech) became useless without psychics to operate it, making previously obsolete technology (postech) dominant. Civilization has slowly rebuilt since the Scream, but remains largely out of contact. Navigation charts are out of date, modern starships take weeks to travel between systems, and centuries of isolation have largely separated humanity, creating hundreds of different factions and cultures.

The players would be the crew of a Free Merchant ship and feel free to make any character you want as long as it follows the following rules:
1) It is a human (No crazy aliens. I might make an exception.)
2) It follows the SWN character creation rules.
3) It isn't offensive or just plain stupid.

Also, between your characters you will need the following skills:
Vehicle/Space: To fly the ship (Pretty much required)
Navigation: To avoid being lost in space and slowly starving to death. (Pretty much required)
Computers: To operate scanners and comms effectively. (not required, but helpful)
Combat/Gunnery: To effectively fire ship mounted weaponry. (again, not required, but helpful)
It is possible for a single character to have all of these skills and man a ship alone, but it would be very ineffective, as you cannot fire the plasma beam while dodging enemy fire, plotting a course, and scanning the enemy ship all at once.

Anyway, if anyone is interested, lemme know. I would like at least 3 players before starting.
The PDF is available for free here.

I'd be up for it. Do you just want to play it as "dungeon crawling in space" or do you have some kind of plot in mind?

The game is meant to be sandbox. There would be stuff going on in the sector around you, but otherwise, not really a plot. You could travel to a planet to find out its being taken over by aliens or something, but it would be up to you guys to decide what you want to do. Basically, you have a ship, have fun and don't get yourself killed.

I'm reading through the PDF currently, and have to say I'm interested. I don't tackle Tabletop too often, but like to enter a game every once in awhile. Might need to occasionally have a dumb question answered or be kicked in the right direction, but it'd be great if you'll have me. :3

That'd be fine. I GM a lot of tabletop games in person, but this is my first time GMing one play-by-post, so I'm a little new to this as well.

Aah.

It's a decent experience around here, though I just assume it's much better to play in person with people sitting around with you. Sadly I have never found the chance to do that, but maybe I will eventually. A dude can dream. :P

The downside of it is that you need to find time to get a group of people together for a several hour period. Anyway, I'll work on an OOC and try to get that up soon.

I can see where that'd be a problem. xD

I'll be keeping my eye on this page for the OOC. Though as someone who has ran roleplays more times than he'd like, I understand these things take time! :P

Nice. Raddum did a good job, so that should help anyone who isn't quite sure what their CS should look like. If you have any questions, drop me a PM or something.
