What is a God/Devil Mask?

Godmask: A mask crafted after or designed around a god or deity from various religions. It is imbued with powers based off of said deity or god and requires a covenant to activate. : IE Greek gods and Christian/Jewish Angels.

Devilmask: A mask crafted after or designed around a trickster or Devil from various religions. It is imbued with powers based off of said trickster or devil and requires a covenant to activate. IE Beelzebub and Loki

How does one attain a God/Devilmask?

Godmasks were created hundreds if not thousands of years ago and are hidden around the world. Most archangel godmasks are in the possession of the catholic church, some are owned by secret societies and others are hidden throughout the world. There is even a slight chance that there are a few just sitting on a mantle as decoration. they are often attained through exploration, as a gift , by accident or it is handed down through Generations

What is a covenant?

A covenant is when you agree to the terms of the Mask. These range from promises of protecting innocents to murdering specific peoples. You must agree and follow through with your promise or else the powers of the mask will be nil

Extra information ((will be added to if people ask questions))

All gods are available, even gods like Chronos- but they cannot have unlimited powers (ONE OR TWO MAXIMUM I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH). They are attached to humans, remember, and they are based on the god, they are not the god themselves.

Most people only have one mask - as keeping a covenant can be a heavy burden unless done right

I make a point to not have a "god" or satan" mask because that's subjective and I don't want a flame war. Chronos is defeat-able in story so i suppose he's okay

the antagonists are the other players. Godmasks versus Devilmasks with occasional exceptions depending on the person owning the mask.

Rules

1. Just because these are "god masks" does not mean that they are "gods". Your characters can die and they WILL NOT BE REVIVED. So as a basic rule, no killing off characters unless you've got a backup plan, buddy

2. No over-vulgar language or over - dramatic gore. This sort of has a "Magical girl/boy" aesthetic. Fights and wounds are fine but i don't want to hear about how the user of Lucifer's godmask ripped out someone's heart or something.

3. Have fun and interact! The masks are a secret type of thing so just because your character has a devilmask and the other character has a godmask does not mean that they cannot be friends!

Backstory: He is electrician and computer analyst. He went through his school, high school and college as an unpopular student labeled as a nerd. He was quite intelligent but not necessarily admired for it.
How they came across the mask: He found it in a hidden area in his basement in a place surrounded with clear springs of water. He analyzed the water, and found out it was clean enough to drink. The mask was on an altar like pillar and it seemed to be speaking in words that Terry couldn't hear. He put on the mask and found out that it made him very different.

Personality: Brewer is sarcastic, and often loves to make jokes at other peoples expense, but when he's doing the family business he is serious, cold, incredibly tactical, and utterly devoid of emotion or the humor he normally has.

Powers: Time manipulation, he can slow down and stop time but it messes with his heart beat and using it too much can stop his heart and kill him. He can also go backwards or forwards in time up to five minutes. But he has to wait a full day to use it again, He also has enhanced reflexes due to the mask.

Backstory:Aaron lived in a military family his entire life, so thus when it was his time he signed up. He made it through basic and excelled on the battlefield eventually joining Delta force and 2 years later transferring into the ISA. After leaving the service at 24, six years after he signed on he came home and his family revealed their secret.

One of their ancestors during the time of the Roman Empire, had started a cult for Chronos and came into possession of a mask this mask wanted them to kill anyone who possessed a mask of the Greek gods mainly it wanted Zeus dead, and the family had tried for generations to get their hands on the Zeus mask, using wealth they have accumulated through the masks manipulation of time, and countless contacts within countless military's and governments. The tradition goes they pass the mask down to their first born son after his military service is up, and he takes up the job of hunting down any of the Greek god masks.

While everything here is pretty good, this mask has too many powers. They are powerful, don't get me wrong, but try to pick one or two abilities. use Enalias as an example. Edit that and you are good to go!

Name: Minae Naeni Er'ka (her friend's call her Minnie)
Age: 24
Personality: At first glance she seems practically devoid of it. She is curt, unforgiving, and relentless. Getting to know her reveals her softer, sassier side, and her genuine sweetness. It's not day and night, as she is still proper in her speech and blatant in her criticisms, but she is a kind soul who has suffered much

Godmask/Devilmask: Athena
Powers: supreme intelligence in topic of her choice and only that topic. Good judgement overall. Not a mask used for fighting, though Minae's personal abilities make up for it (She is an excellent melee fighter)

Backstory: Minae was born the daughter of the CEO of Erka Enterprises (HUGE multi-faceted company), whose father loved her mother far more than he ever loved her. And when her mother died in an awful accident when she was a child, no love existed. Her father's turn to alcoholism ended up causing her to go blind in her left eye (How this occurred is unknown. He was then taken into custody for child abuse and Minae was put in the care of her mother's brothers (5 of them), who raised her intelligently and with love, despite the wall she immediately put up and refused to put down after the incident with her father.

The rest of her childhood had little conflict, and she took the CEO seat of her father's company at the tender age of 19. She fell in love with the CEO of a fashion company, but he died about 2 years prior to the start of this. Not looking for love, but for an escape, she took a two week vacation o greece, where while visiting an Athenian temple on her tour, her intelligent mind was able to solve an old riddle that led her to the resting place of Athena's mask. She took it, and agreed to the covenant of "prevent death with wisdom". The topic she chose was medical science (as she was taking schooling alongside running the company), and she has since gotten her PHD.

How they came across the mask: Explained above

Alightment: lawful neutral - though she tends to lean more into lawful good territory

Other: She has a son, Klaus. Who just turned 3 a few weeks ago.

Age: 17

Personality: Yin is a very upbeat and friendly person, very approachable and funny, usually when not helping people he is surrounded by friends and smiles. Yang is the exact opposite, he is a very bitter and mean person, the type you would see literally taking candy from a baby, he enjoys misery and pain sometimes going out of his way to hurt people, he also enjoys getting people lost, sometimes sending them into dangerous parts of the world because he's bored, Yang also enjoys killing.

Godmask/Devilmask: Janus

Powers:
1)future seeing: Yin can see the future up to as far as two days, but when he does this he cannot speak of them, like how you can't describe color to a blind person, he see's them and understands them but cannot describe them to someone. It is the same as past seeing.

2) doorway/Passage way manipulation: he can make doors,hallways,gates,openings etc go to completely different places, he can go to anyplace he has been, while people he see's can only go to places within his sight, also he can manipulate other parts of doorways and hallways, for example making a hallway that has a door around the corner a dead end, or making the hallway longer or shorter than it should be, or creating doors in dead ends. He isn't limited to doors he can create ladders hatches etc.

Backstory: Before Yin was born his mother traveled around the world, falling in love with a Taoist named Chen, after a few years Yin was born and his mother and Chen settled in a small country home in america. Unfortunately Yin's mother died during Childbirth so it was up to Chen to raise and teach Yin all by himself, he did a good job for the most part, though Yin is agnostic he still has many of the Taoist beliefs, he lived a normal life until his father died at the age of fifty-two, Chen gave everyone in his family something, Chen's brother got the house, his sister the money and all Yin got was this stupid mask. He was so mad he threw the mask out his bedroom window, it smashing on the pavement, the next morning it was there. At the window, he sighed and put it in his closet. Once halloween came along he had nothing to go as and he remembered the mask, he put it on and well, he had allot of fun that night.

How they came across the mask: he inherited it from his father, he wore it too a costume party, he started to hear whispering in his head, "do you accept?" he would hear, he asked what and it explained "you must balance your good and evil, evil and good, if you can do that you may use this mask however you wish". He accepted, but it came at a price, the mask needed balance, and to do this it created another person for the bad side of things, it created a boy named Yang, who is only active at night or when Yin fall's into REM sleep.

An angular face with sleek features, slanted eyes and a thin nose, they give of an impression of a higher class. Broad shoulders with lanky limbs, they seem taller than they truly are, and their ears, which are a little on the larger side, add to this effect. All around sleek, elegant and stylish, this one seems t hide blemishes quite well.

Name: Oliver C. Penton

Age: 22

Personality: Soft spoken, and hardly speaking at all. Oliver is one to listen intently, and not think on offering words on return. An empathetic person, Oliver see's two sides to each coin, and truly believes everyone has good and bad sides. He is a peace keeper, and would at most all times avoid confrontation. One to keep most emotions hidden, yet not try and restrain himself from actually feeling them. Has confidence issues, not one to stand up in a crowd, because he thinks others could do it better.

Godmask/Devilmask: Scylla A Devilmask.

Powers: Able to create a long neck, the has a snapping maw on it's end, alike to a ravenous dog. Able to project an aura of harmlessness. (i,e make people believe he is no threat)

Back story: Oliver is a young man. Since his birth he has been blind, but he has for the most part found a way around this. Growing up with a very supportive family, Oliver learned much and was always treated as a normal person, and thus he doesn't think of his lack of sight as any sort of crutch. He grew up happy and harmless, studying often and reading as much as his parents could acquire for him. He went on to do very well in schooling, up until college, where his parents wouldn't have had enough to put him through. He has for the last few years been continuing his studies and looking for a proper job. Though he seems to have some difficulty finding one.

How they came across the mask: An odd parcel arrived at the house, marked with no return address, and directed towards Oliver. He opened the mask and when he managed to slip it on, her heard the sweet voice attached.

Alignment: Good.

Other: While using the monster head, he is able to see through it's eyes. His heavy metal seeing eye dog if you will.

Black hair kept in a bob lowers down to about earlobe length. A button nose and rosy cheeks add to a youthful look. Modest in chest, but not in chutzpah, the look is all in the posture. Small ears, with small eyes, and a small everything else, this character has something to prove, and it's written all over their face.

Personality: A spark is the easiest way to say it. She has a lot of attitude and isn't afraid to say it. She won't hold back her words, or her actions. One to take the leap first, so no one else has to. She can be overbearing, and doesn't recognize all the boundaries she could/should. A protective person, she is likely to put things she loves before herself. But getting on that list could take some work.

Back story: A simple girl, simply adopted near birth, into a simple family. She grew up well and did average in school. She always stuck up for what she thought was right, and is saving up money from her multiple jobs now for her future. And maybe that new game coming out in three weeks.

\Personality:Anubis is a quiet, calculated person, who believes in the act of tough love, he usually push's everyone away and makes sure he stay's alone, and usually comes off as cold hearted, but under his tough exterior he is a caring thoughtful person who put's everyone before himself.

Powers: 1) burial manipulation: 1A: Anubis can manipulate sand, hardening it creating constructs out of it, he can even form weapons out of sand. 2A: he can control cloth, but only the cloth that is wrapped around his body, he is able to stretch it, tighten it and shoot it.

Backstory: Anubis' real name is James Tyler, a famous deceased Egyptologist who was studying one of pyramids, he discovered a new temple hidden under the sand after a sandstorm, the temple belonged to Anubis, the guide of the underworld. When he went in he brought two other doctors with him, none of them escaped, or so the papers say, but what actually happened was as they were going in they discovered something, a room full of treasure which would give wealth for two lifetimes, one of the members of the expedition got greedy, and left James and the other scientist for dead. But James survived, he awoke hours later after Dr.Locke had left, he shambled around until he saw something, in a hidden room, the room had one thing in it, a mask surrounded by statues of the Jackal faced god, the mask called to him, he slipped it on and he heard a deep, forgiving voice telling him something of a contract the voice said that he would have to guide any spirit he came across into the underworld. He said yes, and James' body was found though he was still alive. He decided it would be better for people to think he was dead, he had no family or friends anymore. So he took the name of the god he wore. And exacted his revenge.
