Ok so I want an Arena RP centered around star wars and saber combat and such to stay active for once. This is going to be a high level fight(im not familiar with the tier system) in which you can make a character of any type as long as it is star wars, and matches the faction. For instance no sith working with republic soldiers. Ok so basically this is set in an alternate version of the old republic and any and all saber styles and force powers are useable( within reason). However the more adept your fighter is at one aspect he more he or she must lack in the other. For instance you can have a balanced fighter or a force wielding master or even a blademaster. During this fight I would also like some republic soldier(probably heroes due to the level of the fight) as well as some imperial ones. Hell if you want to make a gunslinging bounty hunter just make sure he has a specific faction of Empire and Republic. Basically if you are empire you can attack any republic character and vice versa. This will take place on Coruscant in the middle of an Imperial invasion. I want at east four to start but this will be an always open RP and more are welcome.

Three factions would be more interesting I think. Maybe Republic, Empire and Hutts/Independents?

thatd be fine as well as long as there is a definite side I don't want this to be just random killings there should be a method to the madness.

Hey, I'm interested! If not for the experience in combat writing, for the star wars opportunity XD

I'd most likely go for your republic commando type of hero that brings in the NPC soldiers to stir things up...

name: Noctis Obscuro

race: human

affiliation: sith empire, sith warrior

height: 6'1

weight: 185 lbs

appearance:

skills:

stats:
strength: he is extremely powerful even for a force augmented being. He can use his rage to fuel this inhuman strength. At his maximum he can lift up to 700 lbs. He delivers extremely powerful blows regardless of what saber style he is utilizing, however his primary style djem so is absolutely devastating when combined with his strength.

speed: while faster than a normal person he is slightly slower than most force augmented beings. He can still move fast enough to easily deflect blaster bolts, but against an ataru user he will ave to overcome a speed gap. he can move around twice as fast as a normal man.

endurance: This is where he truly shines. As a sith warrior he was trained on korriban and has had to undergo trials of pain and anger his entire life. He can take force waves and blaster bolts. He can even survive a point blank explosion from a grenade, however he will be extremely injured and clinging to life. A fatal strike with a saber can still kill him like any other.

equipment:

Couple things to note: Soresu is actually very good against Djem So, but weak to makashi, and the durability of your armor seems to be on par with duraplast, rather than normal durasteel. I'd switch the materials.

Just a couple things to note that were a tad inaccurate.

Edit: And why only three powers? I'm used to fighting forcies with training in up to ten. Lol.

He is a duelist not a force master and soresu is really weak against djem so because their gaurd can't compete with the offense. Granted they can hold out better against blaster fire but the djem so practitioner has them beat in light saber combat. However your right about the armor I'll fix that when I'm home.

Actually, the objective of Soresu to redirect attacks using the most efficient moves possible perfectly counters the heavy, powerful strikes of Djem So. A Soresu user will outlast a Djem So user by a wide margin, and when the Djem So user starts making mistakes is when the Soresu user find an opening to exploit. Soresu uses the power of the style against itself to wear down the opponent into making a mistake. Soresu is the reason Obi-Wan won the fight with Vader in episode 3. It's similar to how a Jiu Jitsu user is pretty much always going to beat a wrestler. The wrestler may have power and weight on their side, but Jiu Jitsu is designed specifically to use that against them.

Makashi, however, is all about finesse and precision, the perfect counter to Soresu's efficiency because it doesn't tire out the user like Djem So does, and its strikes are all aimed at specific targets. It's why Dooku took Obi-Wan down so fast in Episode 2, and anakin was able to hold him off for so long. The finesse of Makashi has a difficult time countering the power and ferocity of Djem So.

Trust me on this. I've spent a great deal of time studying the subject. Lol.

Oh, and regarding the fact that he's a duelist, there are many powers that focus on that, such as battlemind and force rage. Both of which your character already seems to use.

yeah and ive looked into the lightsaber styles as well and while its true that the soresu user will outlast the djem so user, the djem so user is more oriented towards dueling. Djem so is a branch of shien which in itself is just soresu geared more towards dueling. Overall it comes down to individual duelist, but the soresu user is at a disadvantage in a lightsaber duel with anyone who uses a different style. If you watch many of djem so's movements are tight and defensive like soresu, but it focuses on a offensive aspect. I do agree with you though makashi users dislike djem so duelist quite a lot it makes riposte very hard to perform.

sith textbook and multiple reviews many are by jensari and some other enthusiast. Also djem so is based on traditional kendo which is a sword form I have background in.

Which of those sources says that soresu is inferior to every other style in lightsaber vs lightsaber combat?

It was lightsaber combat as a whole that was based on kendo, especially in the original trilogy, not Djem So specifically.

no makashi is based mainly on fencing soresu has origins in Chinese martial arts and djem so and shien have origins in kendo most of the styles also have some western longsword techniques present as well. In the original trilogy the props were so delicate that combat wasn't able to be as fast paced, but they made up for it by using wide powerful swings. The actual different styles weren't truly made present until the start of the new trilogy.
