Hogwarts had certainly become more interesting ever since two new schools had been integrated for the Tri-Wizard Tournament which would take place over the later part of the year. Hermione Granger as well as most other witches, had been quite taken by the blokes from Durmstrang. And then the wizards had taken a liking to the flowers from Beauxbatons. So now the halls of Hogwarts were even more crowded with witches and wizards mingling from other schools. It was educational as well as eye opening. She was only slightly interested in the Tri-Wizard Tournament because of its history. But when it came to its violence and harsh reputation, Hermione found herself more repulsed than anything else. She didn't have any friends who were able to participate so she wasn't very worried about the outcome.
Ron's brothers on the other hand wanted to put their name in but of course it backfired on them just as she warned them. No one ever listened to her. She, Harry and Ron were heading toward the Great Hall since the ceremony for the drawing was about to start. Even though none of them would be in the fray, they still felt the need to support their school with whoever had been selected. Just as the bushy haired girl was about to give another fascinating lecture on the history of the tournament, Ron stopped her and pointed out that she had already told them about the first ever recorded Tri-Wizard Tournament. Blushing slightly, she closed her mouth and quietly apologized. It wasn't her fault if she got carried away sometimes and felt the need to bring more enrichment to their friendship since chess was dull as was Quidditch, in her mind.
Despite her lack of interest in the boys' sports, she tried to show support and in turn, she wished they'd do the same for her academic pursuits. But Ron ran ahead to get a seat for them, leaving Hermione and Harry alone. "I never thought I'd be able to witness such a tradition, sorry it's all I've been talking about lately." She threw Harry a small smile. "I'm just glad this will be a quiet year for us, just studying, nothing to do with danger or anything of that sort." She smiled as they entered the Great Hall and found their red haired friend in the front. "Sorry." She pushed her way to where Ronald was and she took her seat as the last stragglers pushed their way to find someplace to see the glowing trophy in all its glory.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Great Hall, the blond Slytherin was with his usual goons, making small remarks about the batch of losers they were stuck with. Draco had been flying under the radar more then usual but his home life was leaving him pretty busy. His father was preparing for something big and yet whenever Draco asked about, he would get some tight lipped remark. Draco loathed the fact that his own father didn't trust him with information. Draco was spending his time learning new spells and potions in hopes of somehow being seen as worthy in his father's eyes. But it seemed that lately his father was always off doing something and Draco was even more determined to make his name since his father didn't show interest in sharing in the Malfoy legacy.
He relied on his friends, though in his mind, they weren't really friends, to keep him occupied. The blond haired blue eyed boy was tired of Potter and his stupid friends. He was tired to seeing them laugh and joke around while he had to study or deal with family matters. Draco had hoped his time at Hogwarts would be grand, that he'd be the center of everything. Everyone would love and adore him and yet Potter was stealing the spotlight and it made Draco absolutely sick. His own legacy was slowly fading away and he was determined to make himself stand out, not just in the eyes of his father but also in the stupid people he went to school with. He lamented that he couldn't participate in the damned Tri-Wizard Tournament because he was positive that he would be one on top, the one holding the trophy and mocking those had dared to mock him.
So Draco was trying to come up with a plan to make himself get noticed, to prove to his father that he was a man who could take control and command. As the last of the students wandered in, trying to peek at the front, he let out a snort. "That's what you get for being late." He smirked and sat where he was, sitting on top of the edge of the long table, ensuring his view wasn't at all blocked by anyone. From his view, he could stop Potter and his group of morons. Draco spotted the redhead, Ginny, she was rather dull like anyone else from her pathetic family but after knowing how easy she had been to fool two years ago, he wondered if she could somehow be used a pawn. It was possible. Very possible.
