Playing SWTOR(Star Wars The Old Republic) and almost every time someone asks for help with a Heroic(Heroics are like mini-raids), the universal answer is "solo it". Then come the anecdotes of "Oh I soloed it with (insert class and level here) so everyone should be able to solo it!" ignoring the fact that Heroics are raids and are designed as such.

This is a trend I've been seeing in MMOs lately. Just a complete a lack of community beyond, like, trade and shit. It's like people think their dicks will shrink if they partner up with someone for a quest/job/mission/whatever.

I don't know about you, but I tried playing WoW one time and partnered up with someone for a boss quest and my boobs melted off. Plopped right onto my keyboard. Those people are protecting themselves.

A lot of the heroics are doable solo, it just takes a lot more patience and time. To the point it would be far faster to get a friend.
Bounter Hunter's have it easier cause their very first companion is a healer, the best one to have when soloing.

However as much as I like the Old Republics story telling, it was big design problems. It requires you to grind you essentially everything so you're at a level to keep up with the story fights. Working with players offers about no benefit other than social points and speeding things faster, they could use a system that makes it actually more engaging. :/

Though an MMO is always hugely reliant on the communtiy, a good communtiy lets it flourish. A nasty one will cause it to die because socialness is essentially needed to do a lot of the stuff in the game.

I got bored with SWTOR quickly.

It was such a grind to get good enough for story mission fights and the community sucked.

Never found a good party or group to stay in, only way to find a party was to find friends beforehand.

I've had some friendly flashpoint groups.
Though I did play flashpoints ALOT which may be why.

I outright hate it when you get those people who demand to spacebar though, and then get furious when you don't.

They want you to skip the story cutscenes.

Basically what Derp said.
They want you skip all the dialogue just so they can grind through the flashpoint.
May it be for loot, social points or experience. Which really bugs me for two reasons.

1) It's a Bioware game, there main focus is story. You're playing the wrong game if that's what you want to be skipping.
2) There are many combat oriented flashpoints in that game, those spacebar people can just be playing those instead.
