I'm not sure I can qualify anymore for a serious member. The last anime I watched was Kharas, and I still haven't finished that...Very good though, again a fighting mini series.

That's fine. Welcome back! ~

Anime I recently finished is Zankyou No Terror. The last episode just about ripped out my soul and crushed it into tiny pieces. It was a very good anime, though, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys psychological trillers.

As you can probably tell from my avatar and signature, I am very excited for the second season of the anime Psycho Pass that will air soon. I can't wait! ^^

And my all time favorite animes are Death Note, Code Geass, Kyou Kara Maou, Digimon 01 & 02, and Yuu Gi Oh! & GX :3 (yes, I just listed the Digimon series and the YGO! series... I know a lot of people think they're for children, but hey, I still love them *__*)

No shame in loving Digimon, man. Season 3 of that show is still my childhood. ...Even if I think that a lot of the stuff that came up towards the end of the season is totally not stuff that should be in a kids' show. @_@ *shudders from nightmares* Still, in a weird way, I kind of love it for that.

To be honest, I don't really get season 3. It pretty much lost me at hello...:O But I did like the idea in season 4 when they can figth as digimons themselves!

I never really liked the forth season. It was okay, but I didn't like the Royal Knights arc at all (it was soooo annoyingly pointless, they could have done everything in one arc). The third Digimon season was pretty cool, but didn't really feel like a digimon show once the late season hit. But my favorite seasons would have to be both Digimon Adventures. Second season was the best after the Digimon Emperor arc.

I'm pretty hyped for the third Digimon adventure too.

Still, I think it's quite awesome that the kids can fight as digimons. But I don't remember much of the stories of the other seasons except DA 01 and 02 anyway... (will be put on my rewatch list :D)
It's just the thing about follow up series that they are mostly somewhat... really... odd, I guess?! Like Yu Gi Oh!, Pokémon, Dragon Ball (never liked the last two, though).

I admit I'm biased because it was the first season I ever saw, but honestly I just really like season 3 because, by comparison, it just seems so... adult. Some parts of it were surprisingly creepy and/or dark, even early on, and as it continued it was just so... wow. I've never felt more sucked in by a Digimon plot before. And I loved the final villain.

Also, I feel like this is the only season that really accurately captured the whole "digital" aspect. Seasons 1 and 2, despite tacking the prefix "digi" onto everything, pretty much just felt like a fantasy adventure story. Some kids get sucked into another world with fantasy monsters that evolve to get stronger and kill each other, whee~! But it really didn't need to have the whole "digital" thing attached to it (even if the franchise is based off of digital pets). Meanwhile, season 3 took the digital concept full-swing, actually making it feel almost sci-fi-esque. Digimon are constantly described as data, but in a way that actually makes sense this time. They're thought of sort of as programs - which are programmed to fight each other, which is why they have that instinct to fight. And they absorb the data of their enemies in order to make themselves stronger so they can digivolve, which means adding a whole bunch more data onto themselves. And because they're data, they can easily be deleted. But because they're sentient, that raises a whole bunch of moral questions when you have people who just want to delete them all and... yeah, it's just really interesting to me.

Plus, given the fact that the team who produced this was basically just told to "re-work the entire Digimon series in a way that will encourage kids to go out and buy the video games and trading cards", they did a fantastic job of making all that work without totally sacrificing the story and managed to create something that wasn't an enormous cash-in. o.o

Attack on Titan is fantastic. Continue to enjoy it because it only gets better (and bloodier).
I love Death Note and I have yet to watch Code Geass, but I really really want to.

The first season of Psycho-Pass was wonderful. The new season is, well... new. It has a whole new writter and it shows, especially in the first episode. The story is promising and I have no intention of dropping it. I only have hope that they won't mess this up. At least they knew to bring back Egoist.

I never watched Digimon.

I know that kind of feeling. Yu Gi Oh! GX is the first season I saw and I love it.
After reading your comment I definitely have to rewatch the other Digimon seasons! :O
But unlike you, I definitely enjoyed the fact that the Digimons were not just "data". Or rather: I forgot forgot that they were actually just data most of the time. (I think, they have the Digimons say they're not only data themselves?) And I totally cried during the second adventure/season when that one Digimon of the "bad guy" in the beginning died (I forgot the English name).
Oh, and there were pretty much no killing during the second season ^^
But then again, I have to admit I never looked into the setting /story that detailed... I simply enjoyed what I saw.

Code Geass is amazing! It is a little tiny bit similar to Death Note, since Lelouch gets this power to be able to change the world. But instead of being a total arrogant asshole he actually has a more understandable reason. Though that's why I love Death Note xD :3

I can't wait to watch Psycho Pass. The screen shots I saw were really impressive already.

i love anime and its related media as well, but i think there should be a disclaimer for anyone who wants to be an 'otaku' to actually know what it means before it identifies as one. in the sphere of this forum it has a different meaning but if you take that personal identity anywhere else, especially around japanese people, you will just be a loser

Nah, depends. My one friend learned Japanese all on her own (through various sides and programs and blabla), went to Japan for a few weeks to improve the language and then did a voluntary social year in Japan. And my friend fitted quite well into the Japanese culture :)

Done with attack on Titan and Pandora Hearts ^^
I think I'll need something funny for a change. But nothing too long. Any suggestions? :)

I would suggest Trigun because it starts out hilarious, but it starts to turn really dark and heavy about halfway through. Not that that's a bad thing - as I really like both halves of Trigun - but it's not exactly a comedy through and through. It is only 26 episodes, though, if that helps.

See's constant mention of Digimon.

It's Intro is just the best, and honestly I liked it even more than pokemon.
Digimon show = Far better than pokemon.
Digimon games = Just as good, but sadly didn't seem to get close to as popular.

Honestly I think the Pokemon games beat out the Digimon ones, mostly in terms of consistency.

In Digimon, all the rules change with every game. I only played them casually and I didn't even pick up that many, but the gameplay and, in particular, the digivolution paths were all so different that it made it difficult for me to really think of the games as a series, or transfer any useful knowledge from one to the other.

In Pokemon, X evolves into Y (no pun intended) and that's very unlikely to change. Every species has specific characteristics and those don't change... much, other than adding new attacks and maybe a new evolution. Not to mention most of the items don't change, either - nor do established attacks. There's not nearly as much re-learning required as in Digimon. If you've played one Pokemon game, then the skills you learned there will transfer into the next game you play. And, virtually all the gameplay mechanics should remain the same, as well. That's probably why the Pokemon games did so much better than the Digimon games, now that I think about it.

Edit: But yes, that opening theme is the best thing ever.

You would think that the repetitiveness and the lack of variation in lyrics would be a negative factor, but somehow that seems to be the best part.

In all seriousness though, that is a valid criticism. Digimon World 2 did seriously annoy me with how unnecessarily complex it's digivolving system was.
And you're right, it probably is why pokemon games were far more successful. It's just that the digimon games I played (which were few, cause due to lack of popularity/availability combined with Japan keeping a lot to themselves) I loved everything about other than their digivolving mechanics, the fact each game was different was a bit of a charm for me cause it meant a new experience each time.

I need to start streaming the show though, I last watched digimon as a kid. And as a kid I relied on cable, so when the channels in my area canceled digimon for some court case show I was completely unable to keep up with it. :(
