The Mediterranean Sea, Nowhen

The Cradle of Civilization, where the first great powers of the world came to be. Over the aeons, this region has nourished the peoples and cultures that thrived on its bounty. It has seen the might of nations like Egypt, Greece, Rome and more.

But now, something has changed. From all corners of Antiquity, many of the greatest and most powerful civilisations have been thrown together into a new Mediterranean. Once again, their people and cultures must battle for dominance over this ancient sea - only the strongest will survive. Who will build an Empire to stand the test of Time?
- Essentially, the idea is that each RPer will play the part of a leader of a famous and powerful nation or civilisation from the past (pre-Renaissance).
- For some unexplained reason, many of these civilisations have been flung together into a new Mediterranean.
- Important Note: None of them remember the account of history in our timeline.
- As a nation's leader, Rpers will guide them down a path of interaction with other powers, whether this be through warfare or trade.
- There may also be city-states, if people like that idea - minor powers which I will control, and that RPers can befriend or conquer (rather like the city-states in Sid Meir's Civilisation 5)
- I have this idea for trade routes, but I'll explain that if people are interested.
- Casual or above standards, I'm not too strict. Just no one-liners please :D

The Map

This is the map I think it would be good to use if this goes ahead. RPers would choose a few territories to start in, and expand from there.

That's kind of what I meant. Any European nation or any around the Mediterranean.

Yep, certainly. I want to hear peoples' opinions of trade routes and city states (if they want them or not, for example)

Oh, this sounds fun. I might have to dig up a bit of research, but I'll definitely cast my lot in.

Other citystates/npc nations would be interesting, i'm a fan of diplomacy myself xD

Oh, and, btw, if I seem to be posting at odd times, my timezone is Greenwich Mean Time (I'm British). Sorry about that.

I know it says "(pre-Renaissance)". But what kind of time line are we looking at here? ( So I can pick a place or nation that is relevant.)

It doesn't matter what kind of time frame your nation comes from, seeing as they all got thrown through time and space anyway. It would be better to choose a classical civilisation (or one that was around in Europe at that time.) as everyone starts off with low-level tech, regardless from what era their civilisation from. I guess we could just use made up civilisations, but it is easier to relate to real historical empires than RPing one from scratch.

Okay, I was just hoping for like a minimum time period but that is fine. And yeah I agree. It is easier to use on that already existed rather than cover all of their history. What kind of tech level btw pre bronze age?

Hmm... Carthage was claimed-- seems that we'll be using a few of the superpowers, eh? This is coming together very 'Civilisation' esque xD

So we take a real world nation and culture, choosig a famous/iconic leader

Put it into an alternative history and whipe out their tech/culture

And play it ourselves-

I'd like to do a portion of the German Holy Roman Empire. Not the entire thing of course, that would be way too much. but a few territories would be awesome. possible? Maybe?

We don't remember our timeline, but do we realize we aren't back in Kansas anymore, Dorothy? Will all empty land be filled with NPC-nations or just citystates where their capitols and other big cities would locate. What about barbarian tribes?
