I know the idea of a fantasy/modern(or Sci-Fi)/apocalypse RP is a bit weird, but just go with it.

Thousands of years ago, magic existed in our world, along with the creatures who could harness it. Over time, we lost touch with this magic, as our world seemingly split into 2 different dimensions. Both worlds looked identical, but one contained magic, the other contained us. Fast forward to [insert year here] Humanity has thrived with its technological achievements, never being able to return to those days of magic that they had forgotten. The only magic they knew were in stories and myths. The other great races, separated from humans by a dimensional boundary, though they also don't know. These other races told stories to each other about the olden days, where great human blacksmiths crafted great weapons, with more technological prowess than any other race. At some point, each of the worlds became nothing more than a story to the other, leaving them completely isolated.

Now, a catastrophic event has occurred. These two worlds collided, becoming 1 world. The Geography of the worlds completely lined up, though, the man-made structures did not. Great Elven cities emerged from human landfills. Great works of human ingenuity filled with the remnants of chicken farms. The world was thrown into chaos. Now, the people of these worlds have to combat disease, hunger, creatures, and most importantly, each other.

Things I don't have finalized:
1. Human time period, I can't decide on Modern or futuristic
2. Array of races/creatures for the magic world, so I will leave this up to your suggestions
3. If Disease will have a major effect.
4. Setting (in relation to a place in our world)
4. Other things I can't decide on.
If you have an opinion about one of these, feel free to state your opinion as to help with the decision. Or.. I could just let you guys decide 1, 3, and 4.

The RP will most likely take place right after the collision.

Go with futuristic

I too am interested in this. While I would personally like a modern setting I wouldn't mind futuristic either depending on how far away from the present we're talking. As for disease, I think it should be prevalent enough to have a major impact on the population of the combined world and it could make for an interesting obstacle. Maybe we could explore how communicable disease from one world affects those from the other. I don't really have any idea as far as setting goes but I think it will be easier to choose once a time period has been agreed upon.

Modern would probably be easier to do, considering that the world will be semi-based on the real world, just mixed with a fantasy world.

How about kind of like Chrono Trigger? The time period may advance, but effectiveness is based on weapon's various advantages. Zeal was the most advanced society until the end of the world, and it existed in 12,000 BC. That's because Zeal used magic, and 2000 used advanced technology.

Throughout the setting, powerful things still existed based on reason. For example, Excalibur is a heavily powerful sword. If it's enchantment is strong enough, it can cut through a forcefield.

I like the idea of technology versus magic, however I, personally, would feel that for this to have a standing effect for both sides, I would wish that the setting is based on the future, semi-distant. Also; I also think that disease should have a very impacting effect on the roleplay.
