Wow... That English Opening theme... xD it sounds somewhat creepy. I just can't get used to the English adaptations of anime music, I guess

Trigun looks interesting! I'll give that a try! Thanks :)

KIra's laugh is pretty awesome. :P

I just went ahead and watched the Japanesse Digimon theme song... It's not nearly as catchy as the english one. :/
And this is coming from someone who almost always watches anime with subs.

It's really not catchy. But less creepy in my opinion^^ That's probably because I've only listened to the Japanese version so far.
Then again, I normally just skip the openings and endings... :O

Gonna barge in. My favorite would probably be Katekyo Hitman Reborn (no kidding). Don't ask why because even I don't know the answer to that. It just clung to me and I still can't get over it even if it's already over. /chokedwhalesounds I usually change favorites quickly, but it's kinda surprising that this anime stayed with me for a long time, so this is prolly my favorite. Next is Shingeki no Kyojin because Levi. And the plot. But basically Levi. I apologize for the mainstream-ish list, but those behind the scenes really don't stick to me that much (except for reverse harems ofc)

Who're your favorite seiyuu(s)? My all-time favorite is Junko Takeuchi, Naruto and Lambo's voice actress. And theeeen (Legend) Rie Kugumiya and Mamoru Miyano.

@Shinagami: Creepy and funny at the same time lol

I have never really paid attention to who is voice acting who... But the japanese seiyuus are just all awesome in my opinion. Their voices actually fit the cahracters and they sound convincing, unlike some dubbed version in other languages...

Levi is truelly cool. I hope they'll show more of his past in the Anime, since that one girl in his team mentioned something about him having changed.

When it comes to anime, Japanese voice acting > English voice acting.
Every time, unless if it's a Hayao Miyazaki movie.

The only Miyazaki movie I saw recently was Arriety. I only saw the dub.

The voice acting was terrible. I've never heard the Japanese voice acting for that movie but I don't understand how it could be worse.

Like, I'm with you on this - Japanese VA's are pretty much always better than the dubs. I just don't see how Miyazaki movies are an exception.

I think the only Miyazaki movie I've heard both the sub and dub for is Ponyo, and I'd say the Japanese voice for Ponyo is a lot cuter. <3

They generally seem to be more natural and in place with the movies.
Most animes it's fairly obvious the english was done on top and focused on a child audience.

Miyazaki movies tend to not give that feeling for me, it seems to belong and seems to fit an adult audience too.
Granted, the Japanese voice acting is probably still better in most cases. But the english is passable to the extent you can definitely enjoy it (in my mind) in english without missing much, unlike most animes.

I wonder if there's been animes in which there's both English-speaking characters and Japanese-speaking ones, but instead of having different voice actors so that all of them are speaking one language at a time, the linguistic division is clear within the show's characters themselves and there's only subtitles for the characters depending on whether it's in Japan or English speaking countries. Japanese subtitles for English-speaking characters in the Japanese airings and English subtitles for Japanese-speaking characters in the American airings.

It's a cool concept, but that'd be a lot of money thrown at voice actors to cover 2 languages like that.
You'd also need to explain why a conversation is going on in two different languages.

Damn, why am i so unlucky!? ;(

First there's that obsessive, egoistic girl (Mina or something) in Deathnote, then suddenly one of my favorite characters, Alita from Battle Angel, becomes an absolute bitch in the sequel with her high and mighty attitude, pseudophylosophic ventures and undefetable POWAAAAAH, then it's a whole cast of unlikable brat characters from GTO and now i find MIRAI NIKKI.

I JUST CANT STAND SELFISH OR ARROGANT CHARACETRS

of all villains (and protagonists, for that matter), those are the absolute worst for me, and every time i read a manga with those, i anticpate the moment they get decked in the face all too eagerly to fully enjoy the experience. In Death Note's case, i just stopped reading it when i realized that that girl would stay until the very end of the series.

I didn't mean to say anything about a 2 language conversation. Things don't work that way, unless a character would need an interpreter.

Makes sense that'd it cost more money though. Thing is, there'd probably be ways to make it more efficient. I can't claim to know them myself, but it could be worth discovering.

So did you mean in some cases the character speaks english, and in others they speak Japanese?

And the only cost effective method I can think of is finding bi-lingual voice actors.
But that not only cuts down on your skill pool a good amount, but half of the voices in the show are going to come with accents/oddities cause it's a second language (though that might actually serve as being realistic with bi-lingual characters).

Well, several voice-acting schools are springing up in Japan, and sometimes, the guest speakers are, for example, Naruto's seiyuu, Luffy's, etc, so that's probably why they're so good at it. I used to ignore seiyuus but after a while I started researching more about them, and BAM! Here I am, fangirling over their voices.

Hopefully they will. I haven't read the manga about his past either (or so I've heard there's one). He's pretty fascinating and I really adore mysterious characters, so I'd really love to know his past (and for it to be animated).

Done with attack on Titan and Pandora Hearts ^^I think I'll need something funny for a change. But nothing too long. Any suggestions? :)

Clannad, Angel Beats, Kuroko no Basket or something... They tell me Daily Lives of Highschool Boys is funny so I guess it's worth a try.

Oh, and do you guys have a MAL (myanimelist)? I saw the creator of this thread and Magic Magnum has one. It's a good way to keep on track and the otaku community is pretty good, too. Imma share mine: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/AoiHonou

:/ You're missing out on a lot, man...

I mean, she takes a back seat most of the time, anyway. At least for good chunks of it. And there are a LOT of other enjoyable characters to make up for her being there... Like, I really don't like Misa, but Death Note is still great...

Ohhh, I was just wondering if there was an anime thread.

Looking for other Haikyuu!! fans, though it's a lame sports anime/manga so I doubt I'll find many fans, haha.

But as for my favorite, FMA (manga and Brotherhood) will forever hold a special place in my heart. InuYasha was my first. I really enjoyed Kill la Kill. I just started Hellsing: Ultimate--45 minute anime is weird, though. Little Witch Academia is my favorite short by far. Michiko to Hatchin is a weirder one, but still enjoyable.

Stuff i'm disappointed in would be Blue Exorcist--the ending to the anime was so anticlimatic so I need to switch to the manga. Same with Soul Eater, but I'm not a big manga reader.

And Idk what we're confining or expanding the definition of "anime," to, but I'm throwing out that I really enjoy The Legend of Korra and RWBY as well even though they're made in the USA.

In terms of Death Note--since it's already being discussed--I've only seen some of the anime and it wasn't really my cup of tea. Interesting, though, and a refreshing POV with an "evil" protagonist.

And here's MAL, though I need to update it...

Maybe I should just check out the manga instead of waiting for another season. I just love how he is kind of all grumpy and bleh, but still so cool and badass. It's a very fascinating combination.

Angel Beats is on my list already :) I'll put the others up too. Clannad sounds a little to romantic for my taste though :P But I'm really tempted to rewatch some of my favorite animes again... So often I wanted to start a new anime and I almost always ended up rewatching the old stuff again and I only know so little animes :O
