I took a deep breath before I started speaking, trying to calm myself down. We would figure this out. I knew how to get out of here, we just needed a plan and straight minds.
“Okay," I began, "so I managed to find out that there’s an artillery unit here. Not a very big one by the sounds of it, but it’s not often patrolled, so before we leave we can grab a few weapons and ammo, get us some protection before we up and leave. And we do that by climbing through a hole in a fence on the western fence line. He said it’s behind a large bush a few feet away from the artillery shed. Apparently it’s only known about by some of the younger soldiers, it’s a good spot for them to hook up privately. It leads out into the forest."

"To hook up? You mean where people to go--" I paused, "Never mind. Who's the guy that told you? Can we trust him? What if he was a Jaxlor trying to get you caught? Why in the world would he tell you that?" I was shooting a million questions at Sam. I didn't mean to, but I was curious. If we were going to do this, I wanted us to be safe. I didn't want to mess up and get killed. "Do you think he was lying?" Now I Was the one beginning to panic. "I just want to think this whole thing through."

"Relax Daisy. We can go and check it out now if you want, just to make sure." I suggested taking a step in the direction he had told me. "He told me cause he was an idiot and thought I was going there to meet a girl. Didn't want me to miss out or anything. He also said that there wasn't enough guards to go around to always be patrolling the area, seemed pretty genuine to me. And all three guards were basically saying the same thing anyway."

I bit my lip, thinking for a moment. "We can check it out... Only if you're up for it." I nodded at him. "And if it's safe, we can go. But we're gonna need to find a map of this place, get supplies, weapons, jackets. All that stuff." I took a few steps towards him. "If you think it's safe, then I believe you."

I nodded and led the way to the fence. “If it’s safe then we should figure out a time to leave. They guard back there said he thought the girl I was pretending to meet was smart, that she knew the times that they patrolled and didn't. It’s supposed to be clear right now. So we could either figure it out or get back there tomorrow morning about this time and make a break for it. That could give us more time to get sorted and figure out who we can trust to bring with us.”

"Ok, that sounds good." I nodded, thinking things over and taking everything in. "When we're done with this, we need to stock up on food and water. Hide it... All that good stuff." My mind was racing with all sorts of things. I wasn't sure if this plan would work. I wasn't really sure of anything. I just knew I wanted to survive this whole thing without too much damage. "I hope we don't catch anyone at this little escape hole thing. Lord knows I do not want to see that." I mumbled.

I snorted at Daisy's words as we walked around another old storeroom. "You know, if we do escape, where do we go? We should have some sort of destination, I don't want to be wandering around out there any longer than I have too." I said glancing at her. It wasn't far now till we hit the fence, from there we just had to follow it until we found the artillery shed.

"I don't know. We can't go home. That's too far." I shrugged. "We could just find a new base. Or if we're close to a city we can go there. I've never really had to be on the run like this so I don't know, man." I looked up at him, wondering if he had any ideas. "You're a smart guy. I'm pretty sure you can think of something. Or we could just become forest people and hunt for our food." I smirked.

"I like the idea of becoming forest people, sounds compelling." I said with a grin. "But seriously, we should find a map. Maybe the General- well ex-general- has one in his office? We could sneak in there at some point and take it... I'm sure he won't mind, seeing as his room was turned through this morning, he probably won't even notice it's missing."

"Right... Ok. Should we go later tonight?" I asked. "I don't know if it's a good idea to just barge back in. But if you think he won't mind, then I'm down. We could probably take a lot more than a map." I paused. "I mean, I have no clue what that sorry excuse for a General has in there, but he might have something useful."

"Hopefully he's not in tonight, maybe we should go at dinner time, might be safer if we go when no one is around to see us." I suggested as I caught a glimpse of the fence through some of the trees ahead. "We can talk to others before then as well, the more people we can trust who are on our side the better."

I nodded. "Ok, sounds like a plan. In the mean time, we should probably get back to our cabin." I looked up at Sam then down at my feet as we continued to walk. "Seeing as the entire food hall is in chaos, they might try to-- Oh, I don't know. Put us on lock down or something? They're Jaxlors and they're supposed to be sending us out tomorrow so we should be on our toes."

"Ok, good idea." I said with a nod. "That'll give us a chance to see who's with us or not. I wonder how many people we can convince to leave with us. The more the better probably, it's probably be harder to get out of here quietly, but we'd sure last longer that way."

"Mhmm." I nodded. "I really want this to work. I think it will though." I gave him a small smile. "After we get back to the cabin, I want to figure out how we're going to get food and all the other supplies. I don't wanna go hungry out there." I took a deep breath. Just thinking about all of this was stressful. We'd only been awake for about an hour and a half but it felt like forever. "Are we close to that escape place?" I asked quietly.

"Good." I sighed out as I ran a hand through my hair. This would be a bit of a far walk from our cabin. Especially with a possible group of people with us. We'd have to be extra careful not to get caught.
For the rest of our walk, a comfortable silence fell between us. There was nothing but the cool breeze and the sounds of our footsteps. Not too far from us, I saw an old rusty cabin. "Is that it?" I asked.

I looked up from where I’d been kicking rocks for the last few minutes, ahead to the old shack Daisy pointed out.
“It must be.” Walking up to it, I peered inside one of the windows and saw a table full of guns inside. “Yup, definitely it, so the bush should be along here somewhere.” I said stepping back to search the surrounding fence area.

"Oh sweet. Now we just gotta find it." I perked up a bit since we'd reached our destination. "You see it yet?" I asked, just seconds later as I followed behind Sam while he searched. I knew he'd just started but I was very impatient. "Is it big?" I snickered. "The escape hole, I mean."

I looked over my shoulder and raised an eyebrow. “Maybe you should look, you know, seeing as you’ve seen just as much as I have.” I smirked and turned back to looking. “He said it was behind a bush, so it’s gotta be pretty obvious, there aren’t many bushes along here.”
Walking slowly along the fence line for a few minutes, I huffed and turned around coming back towards the artillery shed when I saw it.
“There.” I pointed. It was sitting just behind the shed, the bush sticking out, covering the hole.
