>>>>OOC<<<<

I was reading through the RPGN and got to the first issue, where I noticed this roleplay. It's a multiverse rp wherein everybody starts out on their own hex of land, and then it's pretty free-form from there. The old one died a long time ago, and it's owner, Queen Raidne, hasn't responded to my PM's/hasn't been on for a while anyway, so whatever. I think it's a neat concept, although it needs some refinement, and so I want to restart it.

I'd like someone to help me do that, or at least some help in figuring out what went wrong so that we can avoid it going wrong again. Perhaps place the RP on Earth and then leave it as a sandbox? I'm not sure.

Something interesting occured to me. Civilization V uses a hexagonal map. It might be worth it to generate a Civ V map and then use it for the RP.

I'm interested. And i think the Civ map might be a good idea. Also if it helps I have been in two other Rp's similar to this and they always seem to die due to people changing their mind on their races too much, not posting, or it becomes a pissing contest of My magic can wipe out your entire army in sixteen seconds or I'm an anime race and anime races tend to be OP anyways with the exception of a few. Or some douchebag brings in a galaxy destroying weapon that is totally overpowered I mean i'm fine with super weapons but when it's more contained, not it can blow up an entire planet.

Interesting. So the principle of trust the players to sort things out tends not to work, then? Because I was considering leaving it totally free sandbox - no plot hooks or anything, but occasionally warp in challenges, treasures, enemies, or allies.

Maybe have a few rules along the lines of no Gray Goo types. Hmm. Well, the more about exploration and construction, rather than destruction and "winnning" the game, the better, in my opinion.

Sandbox is fine and dandy, as long as you go into more depth with nation development. Have the players list weaknesses to their nation and weapons, as well as strengths, list tech levels, and try to limit overpowered weapons or magic. Like my nation idea they use a particle beam that fires for a couple of minutes once every 5 hours during that charging time it is completely useless it's just a building that can be destroyed and taken out.

Yep! Sorry, I was travelling for a week. I expect a proper interest check to be up in a couple of days, followed shortly by an OOC.

No, your fine. I've just been itching to start a role play, I haven't had time in a while.
