Yourself, in an apocalypse

So the title pretty much gives it away.
So you'll be in an apocalypse. The thing is: your character will be yourself. Your own appearance, photo's are not compulsory. Your own first name or nickname, you can change your surname. Your own personality, your realistic reactions to things. So yea. Whose up for it?

if it's us in an apocalypse, something realistic might be good. No Alien superweapons, and Zombies are kinda overdone. So, aftermath of a war, nuclear something or other, governmental collapse, [insert disease gone rampant here].

Wow, I'm loving the interest! I'm most likely going to put a limit on the number of players and I was thinking a disease apocalypse along the lines of Zombies, sorry Varionus. I already have an introductory post in my head so if you guys want to debate the apocalypse and it fits, so be it.

If we'd be writing ourselves, would our backstories start where we are now (or in the general area around us), then we somehow find our way to the location where the RP actually starts?

Yep, for complications sake we're just going to in the same city which I'll choose at random. If you live in the country you'd just make your way in

Ok. What about equipment? Would we be able to have the same stuff we could realistically get our hands on?

Also: Health. Chronic diseases that would essentially mean auto-death in months. Could we take those out of the equation for ourselves in this? Or at least reduce their severity?

Equipment: realistic makes the most sense, so crowbars etc. If somebody is a sword-collector, I recommend you use it (if you know how to use a sword in real life) or if you do shooting, give yourself a gun. However I am putting restrictions on guns. They make things too easy and dangerous, and we are not America.

Chronic diseases: if you are absolutely bed-ridden and don't want to write this, by all means lessen it. If you are not comfortable sharing your disease with us then leave out. A cool thing about rp'ing is you can escape. As long as you stay true to your personality. I'm happy. Just to put it out there, I'm going to be including my astma (which is partly stress induced) so you'll see me taking puffs everywhere. Come join the club.

Well I dislike guns anyways.
They are the least survival efficient weapon you could have next to a grapefruit spoon.
I don't own a crossbow, but I know how to make one. just would have to find the materials. And I have a set of three Hattori Swords. One Katana and two companion swords, a wazikashi and a tanto.
