The soft female voice of his secretary whispered into his ear from the pea sized transceiver in Jarvis's ear. "Lady Greywind sends invitation for council members to join her at the arena, and it appears that all councilmen have accepted". Glancing at the timepiece by his bedside, Jarvis grimaced and stretched violently - knocking over a decorative lamp in the process. With all the running around from rally to rally, then being stuck with smug aristocrats well into the night did not bode well for his sleep schedule.

As far as her invitation is concerned, it may very well be a political trap of sorts. In fact, it already was due to the implied rudeness if one chose to decline.

Jarvis rolled off the bed, and went to splash water on his face in the ornate sink.

So be it. However cleverly she sets the field for political leverage, I will find the weakness and turn the tables. This may even be the opportunity I have been looking for to pin the council in front of the populace to some of my policy suggestions. In front of commoners I have worked so hard to win over for my cause, I may more easily aquire their yay votes.

Jarvis smiled to himself as he fastened the final upper button of his bright red, gold trimmed vest.
"Fiona, would you be so kind as to send note for the Lady that I will attend. You may use my signature for this message."

Dahken Arena

Lady Katherine Greywind stood at the noble aircar platform entrance to the arena in one of her regal red outfits, awaiting her fellow invited councilors to join her to watch the games. It was equal parts a display of her wealth, a sign of her priorities compared to the socialist mindset of her fellow nobles on the council, and inviting some persons whom she would have to become more intimate with to interact in a different setting than the council chamber. It wasn't all fun and games though, she had a few serious topics she wanted to bring up to her councilors. One was pressing, the other was less so but of potentially great utility. But first, the greetings.

Beneath her feet, she could feel the rumble of the arena. Beasts and men, gladiators and slaves, blood would be shed for the entertainment of the masses of the city. While there were many games held in the grand arena, Greywind saw only the bloodsport games as the main attraction of the arena. And it would certainly be a show today.

So where was Sir William? And what was this speech Lord Green intended to make? Katherine honestly felt herself looking forward to what bombshells her fellow councilors intended to drop.

Arriving at the arena

A cloud of smoke then appeared before Lady Greywind. When the smoke cleared, Magus Nilrem stood before her. Accompanying him was his ethereal codex and Deeds, Nilrem's loyal underling. As usual for him, Nilrem wore a plain grey robe and leaned on a walking stick Nilrem didn't entirely need "Good day to you, Katherine" Nilrem said with a respectful nod.

Jarvis strode forward briskly to the aircar platform in his bright red, gold trimmed regalia towards the Lady Greywind. She too sported a very posh display of crimson very much at odds with the old sorcerer who either did not care of his appearance, or purposefully chose to make a statement. This had yet to be determined.

He slowed as he neared the woman, and smiled graciously. Jarvis removed his maroon, feathered cavalier hat and bowed shallowly in greeting.

"Good day to you, Jarvis" Nilrem said with a polite nod after Jarvis bowed "How have you been since the first council meeting?"

Lord Robert Green

The coming of the old lord could be heard long before he arrived by the tapping of his cane. As he hobbled into the room, the council members could see that he wore his usual dated gray suit. He hobbled past the council members and said very quickly as he hurried to the other side of the room: "Greetings to you all, I hope you don't mind if you hold off on the meeting for a short while, I have an important errand to run!" Not giving much time for a response at all, he stepped through a door that led to the holo-screen recording room.

Katherine let out a charmed smile at the arrival of her respective guests. First the Sorcerer in his plain robes (She didn't hold it against him, magic probably didn't mix with regal outfits), then her fellow nobleman councilors arrived in turn. Giving appropriate courtesy to both, Katherine was a bit put off by Robert's stride past her.

"My, what matter concerns him so urgently today?" She remarked before turning to her other guests. "Thank you for joining me today councilors. I have already reserved a first-order observation booth for the use of the council for the duration of this season's games. I am certain they have quite a show for the city today. While I have some minor matters of policy to discuss, they are small matters that should not interfere with our enjoyment of today's acts. If you would follow me-"

Katherine led her fellow councilors upwards, towards the grand VIP booths reserved for the city's elite to provide the greatest view of the arena matches. Drinks and convenience foods were laid out by servants while holoscreens depicted gladiators in the wings and lists of beasts and matches to come. The centerpiece was a series of chairs on an open balcony overlooking the arena and the rows of commoners crammed into every seat in the stadium. Taking the centermost seat, Katherine gestured for her biosynth maidservant to bring her wine, and for her fellow councilors to take seats with her.

"Tell me councilors, what do you think of the arena, and the grand sport it brings to our commoner's dreary lives? Personally, I find it to add some variety to otherwise monotonous days." She smiled openly at the sight of the crowds calling for the games to begin. "And provides insight into things not normally seen."

Nilrem raised an eyebrow as Lord Green hurried past the others and into the holo-screen recording room. Nilrem then followed Katherine and the others as they made their way to the VIP booths. When Katherine gestured for the councilors to sit down, Nilrem took the left most seat and Deeds stood to Nilrem's left. "Deeds" Nilrem then said "My usual".
"Yes, master" Deeds said before producing a brass goblet and a bottle containing a glowing blue liquid seemingly out of thin air. Deeds then poured some of the liquid into the goblet and gave it to Nilrem.
Nilrem took a sip of his drink as Katherine asked her question about the arena. "In all honesty" Nilrem said frankly "I only came for the interesting conversation that can only be provided by colorful characters such as yourselves" Nilrem then took another sip from his brass goblet before adding "As for my opinion on the arena itself, I'm not a big fan of it. I never was one for needless violence and furthermore if I wanted to see a fight I would have just summoned a pair of powerful creatures and ordered them to fight to the death instead of coming here to watch slaves fight each other and the few predatory beasts that evolved down here"
